Chapter 1282 Study Camp

There are three immigrant study camps in Davao City, mainly targeting three groups, one is mainly Slavic immigrants, one is mainly Far Eastern Empire immigrants, and the last one is other types of immigrants.

If the Germans choose to immigrate here, they obviously do not need to join a study camp. Of course, there are not many Germans immigrating to East Africa at present, and even fewer Germans immigrating to the East African colonies.

The three study camps in Davao City have a student population of around 6,000 to 7,000 people all year round, and are not included in the population of Davao City.

Most of them could not stay in Davao City for long. Davao City was just a transit station. Generally, within two months, these immigrants would be redistributed to various places in the Mindanao colony. Most of the time, a group of people would be replaced in one or two weeks.

Acclimation to the local climate is actually the biggest problem faced by immigrants. Many immigrants lose their lives due to this reason every year.

The good news is that East Africa, as the only powerful country in the tropics, is also the country with the most experience and technology in dealing with tropical diseases and climate, so the immigrant attrition rate has been maintained within an acceptable range for the East African government.

After all, there is a lot of competition for high-quality land. From this point of view, farmers in Russia's Siberia may live better than Ukrainians, provided that they can overcome the closed transportation and more difficult environment.

But when we arrived in Mindanao, the situation here had no counterpart in the whole of Russia, whether it was the language, customs, food, etc.

Kumoyev said: "As long as they can fill their stomachs, they can accept any food, and East Africans are very kind."

"In addition to rice, they also prepared meat and fruits. This should be sea fish. There are many fishing boats in Davao. This should be their main source of meat. In Ukraine, meat is rarely eaten, but there are more fish bones."

Lieblia said, "It's good to have something to eat, and you still want to be picky! Besides, sea fish have much fewer bones than freshwater fish. It's good to be able to share so much fish meat."

“There are also bananas and this kind of fruit I don’t recognize. Bananas are rare in Russia. I have only heard of them before, but in Davao City, bananas are everywhere.”

The unfamiliar fruit that Leblia mentioned was actually cut pineapple chunks. There are many orchards in Davao City, and these fruits are basically very cheap.

Of course, for the lower-class people living in Russia, they most likely do not recognize the various local fruits and vegetables.

Many Slavs have never even seen a banana. Although Russia was once a major importer of East African bananas, bananas are a product that ordinary Russians obviously cannot afford.

If it is a country like Germany, or an economically developed region in Russia, the people there have different perspectives.

Even if they have not seen the real thing, they can make up for it through education. For example, in a country like Germany that implements universal compulsory education, if you randomly pick a German, their knowledge is much better than most people in the world.

Kumoyev only responded to the fruit with one sentence: "So sweet!"

In fact, there are quite a lot of fruits in Ukraine. Apples, cherries, etc. are relatively common, but this is the first time they have come into contact with fruits from tropical regions. Coupled with the difficult life in recent times, they naturally have more subjective feelings.
