Homecoming from Hogwarts
Chapter 1112 Welcome
In the quiet morning, the rising sun only showed a distorted and hazy outline on the horizon.
Wisps of green smoke from the chimneys embedded in the walls of the new building of the Haas Orphanage rose up and dissipated in the sky that was still shrouded in the afterglow of darkness.
"Won't you stay a few more days before leaving?"
Mrs. Reagan looked at Amosta with a warm smile under the rising sun, and she was reluctant to leave.
"You've been coming and going so quickly these past two years, Amosta. The children all hope you can stay here longer."
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Reagan, I'd like to have a long vacation, too—"
Amosta shrugged his shoulders and smiled helplessly.
"But the company is expanding rapidly. I'm sorry for the sudden increase in business volume. I believe this is only temporary."
Mrs. Reagan looked at the thin face of the young man opposite with distress. She wanted to persuade him to have more rest and not to be under so much pressure. But when the words came to her lips, she swallowed them back.
"Mr. Lawrence——"
Mrs. Reagan turned her gaze to Lawrence, who was wearing a bowler hat and a neat gray-black suit, and she also showed reluctance.
"It's a bad day for the kids. They'll be sad when they wake up and find you and Amosta gone—"
"I'm just as sad to leave, Mrs. Reagan--"
Lawrence was sincere. He glanced at Amosta quickly, then turned his gaze back and assured,
"I'll come back once the trouble is solved, as long as you don't think my presence is a burden to you."
"Oh, you've been so helpful."
Mrs. Reagan said with both emotion and fear.
Before walking out of the big iron gate of the yard, Lawrence glanced at the Tudor roses in the flower bed bathed in the morning sun, sighed with emotion, and then followed Amosta out of the orphanage.
There were not many pedestrians on the street outside. The only people you would occasionally see were merchants getting up early to prepare for a day's business or deliverymen delivering milk and newspapers.
These Muggles all knew Amosta and Mr. Lawrence, the kind-hearted man who generously donated a large sum of money to the Haas Orphanage.
When they met, they greeted them good morning and nodded and smiled at them.
Amosta and Lawrence responded politely.
"My assurance to Mrs. Reagan—"
Turning the corner and leaving the street in front of the orphanage, Lawrence suddenly took off his hat. He nervously smoothed his graying temples and looked at Amosta with uneasiness.
"Can you deliver, Amosta?"
"There's nothing to worry about, Lawrence—"
The message he received last night did not add much psychological burden to Amosta. He was like a traveler carrying a suitcase ready to go on vacation, exuding a sense of relief and joy.
"I can promise you that I will bring you back safely from the wizard's court."
Lawrence walked forward silently, still looking deeply worried.
It wasn't that he didn't believe Amosta's assurances, nor was it that he cared about his own safety.
Although he knew nothing about the wizarding world, it didn't mean that Lawrence didn't have some common sense.
There was obviously a huge conspiracy behind the scene he witnessed. Amosta himself confessed this to him. The wizard's high-ranking government officials attempted to use this man-made tragedy to realize some conspiracy.
Amosta found him, apparently to expose the conspiracy, which meant that he was against the wizard's government.
Lawrence glanced at the young profile of Amosita, who seemed truly carefree.
The government of a country undoubtedly has considerable majesty.
Wouldn't Master Brian be implicated if he went against the government that governs wizards?
"Little Amosta?"
After hesitating for a long time, Lawrence asked softly,
"Are we the only two defending that kid? Is that necessary?"
"In fact, we have a lot of supporters, Lawrence——"
Amosta didn't seem to understand the old butler's worries. He smiled and said,
"But we don't need too many people to give us a boost. You don't understand, the wizarding world is actually a very reasonable place."
A very reasonable place?
Lawrence became even more worried.
His life experience for most of his life told him that there was no place in this world that was completely legal, unless the magical world created by wizards was a fairy tale kingdom!
"Is it."
After thinking it over again and again, Lawrence decided to remind the young master who lacked life experience.
"When the master was alive, I dealt with many officials and judges. To be honest, sometimes the law is not so supreme in the eyes of those people. Of course, as you said, I don't understand the magic world."
"In fact, wizards don't believe in the law that much--" Amosta laughed.
"But they respect 'the fist' more."
fist?!
Lawrence was stunned.
"Ah, the bus is here. We're lucky we didn't have to wait too long. I remember when I lived here, buses were like true love, always taking so long to come—"
Amosta said happily, and then helped Lawrence onto the empty bus.
"Shall we take the bus to the uh, wizarding government residence?"
After a long silence, Lawrence asked again,
"I thought there would be some... I mean, wizards would use some more fantastical ways of traveling."
"Oh, I might have to take another subway later. You guessed it right, wizards do have some means to reach their destination faster--"
Amosta said with a smile,
"But those methods are too 'stimulating' for you. I think, considering that I need you to keep a clear mind and good physical condition today, it's best for me not to take risks. Muggle travel, I mean, ordinary people's travel methods are safer for you."
Lawrence took a deep breath, nodded, and said nothing more.
The young master doesn't seem like a reckless young man. He should be prepared for possible situations.
Lawrence convinced himself that after all, it was the young master who asked for help, and he had to do his best to help regardless of whether it was dangerous or not.
After riding the bus for twenty minutes, they took the subway.
Occasionally trying Muggle transportation did not bring Amosta a very pleasant experience.
As the subway got closer to the city center, more and more young people who got up early to go to work filled the carriages, until the carriages were shoulder to shoulder.
Not to mention Amosta, even Lawrence found it difficult to adapt to this situation.
"I thought we were going to the suburbs?"
Forty minutes later, Amosta and Lawrence squeezed out of the subway station and stood on the main street in central London.
Looking at the familiar buildings around him, Lawrence tried to smooth out the wrinkles on his suit and said with a little surprise.
"In fact, when the Ministry of Magic was first established, it was located in a less prosperous area—"
Amosita led Lawrence across the street and into the deserted alley where the red telephone booth at the entrance to the Ministry of Magic was located.
"But wizards obviously didn't anticipate that Muggle cities would expand so quickly—"
Amosta, who had just walked into the alley, narrowed his eyes and looked at the reporters who were lining up in front of the telephone booth, carrying cameras and waiting to enter. He then took a step back outside.
"What's wrong, Amosta?"
This unusual behavior immediately made Lawrence nervous, and he asked quickly.
"In order to avoid unnecessary trouble——"
Amosta thought about it.
"It's better to do it before you are needed, otherwise others will find out about your presence. Oh, of course, I'd better not be discovered by these reporters. They won't let me go easily."
Amosta said, then drew out his wand and tapped Lawrence's shoulder gently while the Muggles around were not paying attention, and then did the same to himself.
"Oh, this is me!"
Lawrence's eyes widened immediately, and he confirmed his guess from the glass window beside him.
"We are invisible, Master, is this also magic?!"
"I told you, just call me Amosta. Yes, this is magic. Invisibility is not a difficult task for wizards--"
Lawrence's eyes were darting around and he couldn't see where Amosta was after he disappeared, so Amosta could only hold the old butler's arm and lead him back into the alley.
"Amazing!"
Although it was not the first time that Lawrence had seen Amosta use magic, he still felt awe in his heart.
"Compared to wizards, we are too clumsy."
"That may not be the case--"
Amosta waved his magic wand, and the sudden strong wind blew the reporters in line all over the place, and he and Lawrence took the opportunity to cut in line.
"Muggles can also use technology to do all kinds of incredible things. Look, the elevator at the entrance of the Ministry of Magic was borrowed from Muggles' ideas. Here we are."
hum!
After a moment of darkness, light re-entered Lawrence's eyes. At the same time, he could also sense the buzzing sound of many people talking at the same time.
However, this is not important anymore.
"Welcome to the world of magic, Lawrence—"
Looking at Lawrence who was shocked by the grandeur and magnificence of the golden magic hall and the crowds of people wearing strange and bizarre clothes, Amosta smiled and said. (End of this chapter)
