Chapter 3 Sarn River

Dawn, the dawn of all things dispels the mist of night, the air is filled with the fragrance of green grass, but also mixed with a smell of horse dung.

It was customary for the Dothraki to put away their tents and mount their steeds, and until Khal Mongol had no new orders, the tribe would still continue marching towards the outskirts of Qohor.

A marching team of more than 4 people is not a trivial matter in other countries. It must have complete logistical supply capabilities and a strict command system, but this kind of action is inherent to the Dothraki, and it is just life. That's all.

Riding a horse is life, killing and plundering is also life, living day by day until death.

Sun rises and sun sets, and as long as Kaa can ride, all is well.

The next day, the tribe discovered that their Khal Mongo liked to talk to an old man named Ofer. Could it be that Khal wanted to appoint the old man who couldn't ride a horse as his bloodrider.

Another day when the sun was sinking, a team of patrolling scouts from the tribe did not return. Khal Mongo claimed that the missing scouts were sent further afield to search for water sources.

Until the seventh sun set in the west, the tribe traveled to the Sarn River in the west of the Dothraki Sea, where they stopped their progress, and some of the missing scouts returned to the tribe safely.

In the early morning of the next day, at the Dothraki camp, Mungo rode a flaming horse, and under the guidance of the old man Ofer, came to the ruins of the city by the Sarn River.

"This is Wes Cower."

With the breeze blowing, Ofer stretched out his hand to caress the stone wall of the city ruins, and a fascinated smile gradually appeared on his weather-beaten face.

As we all know, the Dothraki don't care about architecture, and Mongol stopped the horse and said with a smile:

"Wes Kevor, that's a Dothraki name."

Unbelievable things abound in the world, and it is really rare for a Dothraki man to live to the age of Ofer.

His protruding cheekbones bear a piece of vicissitudes of skin, under the wrinkled forehead, there is a pair of cloudy but warm eyes, at the moment revealing a sense of peace and tranquility, Meng Ge noticed that the old man's bare arms were extraordinarily slender and delightful long.

After a moment of silence, Ofer's absent-minded eyes slowly lit up, and he said:

"Tangazan Finn called the capital Shanas, and Ves Kvor is the name given by the Dothraki, which means the city of worms."

Meng Ge was taken aback when he heard the words. This is a foreign language. Before he could speak, the old man Aofu continued:

"All prosperity will usher in the dusk, and all prosperous times will come to an end. Tangarzan Finn is the self-proclaimed name of the language of the high people. They also have a more resounding title, called Salors,"

After saying this, Ofer didn't explain any more, and continued to walk in the direction of the Sarn River behind the ruins.

Meng Ge looked at the bent figure of the old man thoughtfully.

At the beginning, he only wanted to find someone who was familiar with the Dothraki Sea, and he didn't pay too much attention to the origin of the old man Ofer, he only knew that the other party was very good at geography.

After today's contact, Meng Ge discovered that the old man was quite secretive.

If one wants to rule a nation, one must understand the history and culture of the nation. When he was Kou, Cass' doctor told him about the historical legends passed down by the Dothraki population.

The Dothraki Sea in the past was not as vast as it is now. More people called it the Essos Prairie. At that time, the people living here were not only Dothraki. Later, they established the Kingdom of Salor around the banks of the Sarn River. In its heyday, fifty city-states guarded the capital Sanas and created a splendid civilization of more than two thousand years. The Salor people The name is also derived from this.

As the old man Ofer said, when all prosperity comes to an end, the Salorians dismissed the rising Dothraki, and it was too late to repent. The horseshoes turned into ruins, leaving only a stronghold of Seaas with less than [-] residents.

Since then, the horseshoes of the Dothraki have trod across the Essos prairie, turning it into the Dothraki Sea.

The Salorians have slender and long limbs, brown skin, eyes and hair as dark as the night, the old man Ofer is definitely not a simple Dothraki, but has inextricable relations with the Salorians .

However, Mungo was not too worried that the old man would be unfavorable to him. After all, the country of the Salor people had been destroyed for hundreds of years, and before he became Kao, the old man had already lived in this tribe for decades.

Thinking of this, Meng Ge put away his thoughts and rode his horse to follow.

Passing through the ruins of the city, he came to a bridge across the Sarn River.

Looking forward on horseback, the other end of the bridge is connected to a wide avenue, extending straight to the horizon like a spear.

At this time, the old man, Ofer, straightened his back, so that he could see a shadow of a Dothraki warrior from him.

Hearing the sound of horseshoes coming from behind, Ofer turned around with a joyful expression, then stomped heavily on the ribbon-like flat road, and said with a hearty smile:
"The Valyrian road, made of lava, is big enough for three carriages to drive side by side. The Valyrians are as famous for their architectural carvings as they are for their Valyrian steel forging."

Mungo, who has watched the original drama, naturally knows Valyrian steel, which is a kind of steel infused with magic. It is not only lighter than other steels, but also harder and sharper. After the Valyrian catastrophe, the existing Valyrian Steel-forged weapons are extremely precious and rare, and almost every one has its own name and story.

Mungo didn't answer. This avenue really shocked him a bit. He got off his horse and observed the spacious ribbon road made of lava half a foot above the ground.

In their heyday, the Valyrians built the Valyrian Highways linking all the major cities of Essos, and though it has been four centuries since Valyria's own destruction, these roads are still alive and well.

Old man Ofer pointed to the western horizon and said:
"This Valyrian road leads directly to the ruins of Wes Kadok, which was originally a city called Asalia, which belonged to the colonial city established by the Valyrians."

Mungo stared intently, then took out the dagger hanging on his belt, with the blade facing himself, handed the handle to Ofer, and said:
"Based on the Sarn River and its tributaries and Valyrian Avenue, can you now draw a map near the two cities of Wes Walker and Wes Kadok."

"This..." Ofer hesitated, then withdrew his outstretched hand, and said calmly and seriously, "My Kayo, please allow me to speak frankly."

Meng Ge inserted the dagger back into his belt and nodded to indicate that the other party could speak directly.

Old man Ofer said without hesitation:
"If it is to determine the route and determine the direction, my map is enough. If it is to determine the position and number of enemies, the scouts you sent are also sufficient. But if Kayo wants to decide a war, you still need to check the terrain yourself , the vastness of the Dothraki Sea is indescribable, it takes three years for the tribe to pass through here at a time, neither my map nor the scouts you sent can allow you to win."

Of course Mungo knew the importance of the terrain in Ofer's mouth, so he sent scouts to inspect and wanted to get the map in the old man's mind.

Isn't this enough to decide the outcome? Looking at the rushing Sarn River in front of him, he thought of killing himself in the Wujiang River, thinking of throwing a whip to cut off the flow, one was brave enough, and the other had many people.

The high-spirited spirit of becoming Kayo, in charge of [-] tribes, and commanding [-] roaring warriors under his command is fleeting.

After calming down, he carefully recalled his previous plans, cavalry, swiftness, surprise attack, grassland, charge, and victory. The familiar battle scenes disappeared, and his mind went blank. He didn't know anything.

But now he knew what old man Ofer said was right, that he was being arrogant.

Those who are in the shape of the husband are also the help of soldiers.Predicting the enemy's victory, planning dangers and dangers, is the way of a general. Those who know this and use warfare will surely win, and those who do not know this and use warfare will surely lose.
