Even after reading the works of Saussure, Russell, and Wittgenstein, Asama was still intimidated by analytical philosophy, which is closely related to mathematics, linguistics, and phenomenology.

His interest in the works of great analytic philosophers such as Frege, Russell, Moore, Carnap, Quine, Austin, Strawson, and Grice is far less than his interest in [politically frustrated leftists] such as Merleau-Ponty, Althusser, Derrida, Deleuze, Badiou, and Rancière.
