Chapter 673 My phone is broken too

"Oh, okay." Wang Xinxin said, took out the cell phone from under the pillow and handed it to Lin Ke.

Lin Ke took the phone, said thank you, and then pressed the power button impatiently.

However, the phone screen remained dark and there was no response.

Lin Ke didn't give up and tried a few more times, but the result was the same.

"How could this happen?" Lin Ke looked at the phone in his hand in disbelief, and an ominous premonition suddenly arose in his heart.

"What's wrong? Is my phone broken too?" Wang Xinxin saw Lin Ke's expression and realized something was wrong, so she asked quickly.

"Well, your phone can't be turned on either." Lin Ke nodded and said in a heavy tone.

"Ah? What should we do then?" Wang Xinxin suddenly panicked and asked anxiously.

Now both of their cell phones are broken and they have completely lost contact with the outside world. What should they do?
"Xinxin, don't worry, we'll think of a solution." Lin Ke comforted Wang Xinxin, but he himself was unsure.

It's in the middle of nowhere and their cell phones are broken. How are they supposed to contact the outside world?

By the way, Uncle Lin!

Lin Ke suddenly had an idea and thought of the family where they stayed last night.

"Xinxin, wait here for me, I'll be back soon." Lin Ke said, and hurriedly walked out of the room.

Wang Xinxin looked at Lin Ke's hurriedly leaving back, her heart full of confusion and uneasiness.

Where will he go? Will he find a solution to his problem?

Wang Xinxin's heart was full of questions, but she could only choose to believe Lin Ke.

Lin Ke walked quickly into the yard and saw Uncle Lin chopping wood in the yard.

"Uncle Lin!" Lin Ke shouted loudly.

Uncle Lin heard the voice, looked up, and saw that it was Lin Ke, and a kind smile appeared on his face.

"Young man, why did you come out? Why don't you take a rest for a while?"

"Uncle Lin, I have something urgent and I would like to ask you for help." Lin Ke said anxiously.

"What's the matter? Tell me. I'll help if I can." Uncle Lin said readily.

"It's like this, Uncle Lin. Xinxin's and my cell phones are broken. Do you have a working phone at home? I would like to borrow it to call my friend." Lin Ke explained why he came.

"Telephone? Yes, I have a landline at home. Come in with me." Uncle Lin said, then put down the axe in his hand and walked into the house with Lin Ke.

Lin Ke followed Uncle Lin into the house and saw an old black landline phone on the table in the main room.

"This is the phone. Feel free to use it." Uncle Lin said, pointing at the landline.

"Thank you, Uncle Lin, you really helped us a lot!" Lin Ke said gratefully.

"What's there to thank me for? It's just a small favor." Uncle Lin waved his hand and said with a smile.

Lin Ke picked up the receiver of the landline phone and quickly pressed a number.

"Beep...beep...beep..."

There were busy tones on the phone, but no one answered.

"What's going on? Why can't I get through?" Lin Ke frowned, feeling a little uneasy.

He tried to call again several times, but the result was the same. The call could not be connected. "Is the number wrong?" Uncle Lin asked with concern.

"It can't be wrong, I remember it very clearly." Lin Ke shook his head and said affirmatively.

"Could it be that the telephone line is broken?" Uncle Lin guessed.

"It's possible." Lin Ke nodded, put down the receiver, and prepared to check the phone line.

Just then, Aunt Lin came in with a plate of fruit.

"What's wrong? Xiao Ke, can't you get through on the phone?" Aunt Lin asked with concern when she saw Lin Ke's anxious look.

"Auntie, there seems to be something wrong with the phone and I can't get through." Lin Ke said helplessly.

"Can't get through on the phone?" Aunt Lin was stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized and said, "Oh, I almost forgot, the power lines in the village were blown down by the strong wind last night. Now the whole village is without power and the Internet is cut off. The phone must not be able to get through."

"What? The power and internet are out?" Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin exclaimed in unison.

"Yes, the village chief took people to the town to find repairmen early in the morning. It will probably take until the afternoon to be repaired." Aunt Lin explained.

"It can only be repaired in the afternoon?" Lin Ke suddenly felt a headache.

It's already past ten in the morning, which means they will be trapped here for at least five hours?
"Then aren't we going to be trapped here?" Wang Xinxin said anxiously.

"Now we can only wait. Once the electricity is restored, the phone can be used again." Aunt Lin comforted.

Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin looked at each other helplessly, their hearts filled with anxiety and uneasiness.

They are now like being trapped on an isolated island, completely cut off from the outside world.

This is how to do?
Lin Ke's brain was working rapidly, trying to find a solution to the problem.

But in this remote mountain village, what else can they do except wait?

"It seems we can only wait until the rain stops a little before we find a way to go out and look for a signal." Lin Ke sighed weakly and scratched his hair in annoyance.

"This is the only way." There was a hint of frustration in Wang Xinxin's tone. She looked down at her red and swollen ankle and frowned slightly.

"Xinxin, does your ankle still hurt?" Aunt Lin asked with concern, her eyes full of love.

"It's okay, it doesn't hurt that much." Wang Xinxin forced a smile, not wanting to make the old man worry.

"Come, let me help you." Uncle Lin put down the pipe in his hand, stood up and walked to Wang Xinxin, squatted down, and carefully checked her injuries.

"Uncle Lin, can you treat illnesses?" Lin Ke asked in surprise.

"As a mountain person, everyone has headaches and fevers. When I was young, I studied with an old Chinese doctor in the village for a few years, and I know a little about simple injuries and trauma." Uncle Lin explained with a smile, a hint of pride in his tone.

"That's great, Uncle Lin. Please help me see when my ankle will get better?" Upon hearing this, Wang Xinxin immediately became energetic, as if she saw hope.

"Don't worry, let me check you first." Uncle Lin said, taking out a pair of reading glasses from his pocket and putting them on, then reaching out and gently pressing around Wang Xinxin's ankle.

"Hiss..." Wang Xinxin gasped in pain, but still managed to hold back from screaming.

"How is it? Uncle Lin, is it serious?" Lin Ke asked anxiously, his tone full of worry.

"Fortunately, it's just a common sprain, and no bones are injured." After checking, Uncle Lin breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "I'll apply some herbal medicine on you, and you'll be well soon."

"Thank you, Uncle Lin." Wang Xinxin said gratefully.

Uncle Lin stood up and walked to the corner of the room, took out some dried herbs from a cloth bag, then went to the kitchen, ground the herbs into powder with a stone mill, and then mixed them into a paste with warm water.
