Chapter 672 Thank you so much

"I'll get you some medicine." The old man said, turning around and taking out a cloth bag from a shabby cabinet. When he opened it, he found some herbs inside.

The old man crushed the herbs and applied them on Wang Xinxin's wound, then fed her some water.

"Thank you so much, old man. If it weren't for you, we really don't know what to do." Lin Ke said gratefully as he looked at the busy figure of the old man.

"No need to thank me. It's what I should do." The old man waved his hand and said.

"Old man, I still don't know what to call you?" Lin Ke asked.

"My last name is Lin, you can call me Uncle Lin," the old man replied.

"Hello, Uncle Lin, my name is Lin Ke, and this is my friend, Wang Xinxin." Lin Ke introduced himself.

"Hello." Uncle Lin nodded as a greeting.

"Uncle Lin, do you live here alone?" Lin Ke asked.

"Yes, my wife passed away early, and my children all work in the city and don't come back often, so I live here alone. It's good, I want some peace and quiet." Uncle Lin said.

"How do you live your daily life?" Lin Ke asked.

"I planted some crops and raised some chickens and ducks, which are enough for me to eat and drink." Uncle Lin said.

"Don't you feel lonely usually?" Lin Ke asked.

"Lonely? You'll get used to it once you get used to it." Uncle Lin said lightly.

Lin Ke looked at Uncle Lin's weather-beaten face and his calm eyes, and a feeling of admiration suddenly welled up in his heart.

Although this old man lives in a remote mountain village and leads a simple life, he lives calmly, freely and with dignity.

"Uncle Lin, you are such an admirable person." Lin Ke said sincerely.

"Haha, kid, you only know how to say nice things." Uncle Lin smiled and said.

"I'm telling the truth." Lin Ke said seriously.

"Okay, let's not talk about this anymore. You must be hungry. I'll go make you something to eat." Uncle Lin said as he got up and went to the kitchen.

"Uncle Lin, let me help you." Lin Ke said quickly.

"No need. Just take care of your friend here. I'll be back soon." Uncle Lin said and walked into the kitchen.

Lin Ke looked at Uncle Lin's hunched back and was deeply moved.

Although he had never met this old man before, he was very grateful to him and Wang Xinxin for taking such good care of him.

"Uncle Lin, you are so kind. We don't know how to thank you." Lin Ke looked at the old man's busy back, his heart full of gratitude.

"Yes, Uncle Lin, you are such a good man." Wang Xinxin also said weakly, forcing a smile on his pale face.

"Haha, you kids are just sweet-talkers." Uncle Lin smiled and shook his head, "It's just a small favor, don't take it to heart."

"It's just a piece of cake for you, but it's a life-saving grace for us!" Lin Ke said sincerely.

Uncle Lin came out of the kitchen carrying two bowls of steaming noodles and said with a smile, "Okay, let's stop talking and eat it while it's hot."

"Wow, it smells so good!" Wang Xinxin smelled the aroma of the noodles and her stomach started to growl.

Lin Ke took the noodles, handed a bowl to Wang Xinxin, and said, "Eat quickly, you must be starving."

Wang Xinxin took the noodles and wolfed them down. Lin Ke couldn't help but smile as he watched Wang Xinxin eat, and also picked up his noodles and started eating.

Although it was just simple vegetarian noodles, Lin Ke ate it with gusto. Maybe it was because he was too hungry, or maybe it was because of Uncle Lin’s warm hospitality, which made him feel the warmth of home.

After dinner, Uncle Lin took out two sets of clean clothes from the cupboard, handed them to Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin, and said, "Your clothes are all wet. Change into my clothes first. Although they are a bit old, they are better than wearing wet clothes."

"Thank you, Uncle Lin." Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin took the clothes and said gratefully.

"You go change in the inner room. I'll wait for you outside." Uncle Lin said, pointing to a small room next to them.

Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin walked into the cabin, closed the door, and changed into Uncle Lin's clothes.

Lin Ke's clothes were obviously much bigger, his trouser legs were rolled up several times, and his sleeves were much longer, but he didn't care at all. Instead, he felt very comfortable and relaxed wearing it this way.

Wang Xinxin changed into Uncle Lin's wife's clothes. Although they were a little big, they looked quite charming on her.

After changing clothes, Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin walked out of the room.

"Uncle Lin, your clothes are so warm." Lin Ke said with a smile.

"Yes, Uncle Lin, thank you." Wang Xinxin also said.

"Haha, as long as you like it." Uncle Lin said with a smile, "It's getting late, you should go to bed early. I'll make your beds."

"Uncle Lin, let us help you." Lin Ke said.

"No need, you are guests, how can I ask you to do any work? You just go and have a rest, I can do it myself." Uncle Lin said, walked into the inner room and began to make the bed.

Seeing this, Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin didn't know what to say, so they could only sit on the chairs and watch Uncle Lin busy himself.

After a while, Uncle Lin made the bed. He took out two clean quilts from the cabinet, spread them on the bed, and said, "Okay, you guys should go to bed early."

"Thank you, Uncle Lin." Lin Ke and Wang Xinxin thanked him again.

"You're welcome. You should go to bed early." Uncle Lin said, blew out the oil lamp and walked out of the room.

The room suddenly fell into darkness, with only the faint moonlight from outside shining through the window paper, casting a mottled shadow on the ground.

Lin Ke lay in bed, but he couldn't sleep at all. His mind kept replaying what happened today, and his heart was filled with gratitude and emotion.

He took out his cell phone and wanted to call Wang Ze to report that he was safe, but found that the phone could not be turned on because it was soaked in water.

Now that he couldn’t be reached by cell phone, he had no idea what was happening outside, nor did he know how Wang Ze and the crew were doing.

"Xinxin's phone should still be usable, right?" Lin Ke suddenly thought of Wang Xinxin's phone, and a glimmer of hope ignited in his heart.

He quickly got up, went back to the room, and gently woke up Wang Xinxin.

"Xinxin, Xinxin, wake up."

Wang Xinxin opened her eyes dazedly and saw Lin Ke standing beside the bed, looking at her anxiously. She couldn't help feeling confused.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

"Xinxin, are you okay?" Lin Ke asked with concern.

"I'm fine, just a little sleepy." Wang Xinxin rubbed his eyes and said, "What's wrong with you? You look very anxious."

"Xinxin, my phone is soaked in water and can't be turned on. Can you lend me your phone?" Lin Ke asked.
