Chapter 21 The First Exam is Over
Germain stood before Izenabi, took out the same card from his black robe, and showed it to the examiner.

Izenabi only took a glance and confirmed it was correct, then nodded: "Put it here and wait on the side."

"it is good."

The card was placed on the ground. German looked around and chose to sit under the big tree behind Izenabi, leaning against the trunk and taking a rest.

Izenabi glanced at him sideways, and although his face remained expressionless, he was secretly alert in his heart.

It is obvious that Hisoka and German are different from the other candidates. They must be masters who have learned "mind" and are very likely from the dark world.

Izenabi was very cautious in case German suddenly attacked from behind. Although the possibility was very low, he had to be prepared for it.

After waiting for a while, a tall figure walked out of the fog. It was Hisoka.

He walked towards Izenabi, first glanced at Germain who seemed defenseless and had his eyes closed, then shifted his gaze and stared at Izenabi.

Izenabi instinctively felt threatened, but insisted on looking at Hisoka and refused to back down.

Xi Suo smiled, and his momentum suddenly faded. He spread his hands and said, "Here's the card."

He rubbed his fingers together, and like a magic trick, five cards appeared, each of which was covered with bloody fingerprints.

Izenabi was silent for a moment before he said, "One candidate only needs one card."

"Ah..." Hisoka pretended to have just realized something, "I'm really sorry for them."

He loosened his hands, and the five cards fell to the ground with a "da, da, da" sound, as if symbolizing the end of five lives.

"Okay, wait aside."

Izenabi would not accuse Hisoka of his bloodthirsty nature. After all, the exam rules he stated in advance only prohibited attacking the examiners, but did not prohibit attacking other candidates.

Since it was not mentioned in advance, it is tacitly agreed.

By five o'clock in the afternoon, the fog in the cemetery had not dissipated at all, but had become thicker and thicker, and people could hardly see each other.

Fearing changes, the candidates subconsciously moved closer to Izenabi.

Only German had been sitting under the tree since the beginning and had not moved at all.

"The time limit has expired." Izenabi picked up the bag, slowly stood up, and looked around. The candidates all looked at him. "Of the original 352 candidates, a total of 143 candidates passed the first exam."

He carried the cloth bag on his thick shoulders and walked into the depths of the fog.

"Follow me, and don't get lost. If you get lost, it will be considered as giving up the exam. And if anything happens in the fog, I won't help you."

After Izenabi's reminder, the candidates perked up, stared at his back intently, and followed him closely.

After they had walked about ten meters away and their outlines could no longer be seen, German stood up and slowly followed.

He likes to walk alone at the back, not because he likes loneliness, but because he likes quietness. If the person next to him is a quiet person, he doesn't mind walking with him.

After walking for about an hour, around six o'clock in the afternoon, the candidates finally walked out of the fog under the leadership of Izenabi, and had left the cemetery without realizing it.

In front of him was a mountainous and lush wilderness, with wet fallen leaves all over the ground and the chirping of insects coming from the densely intertwined branches. Izenabi's clogs stepped on the muddy path, but he didn't seem to have any difficulty walking. On the contrary, the candidates always stopped every three steps to shake off the yellow mud on their shoes or trouser legs.

As night slowly fell and a crescent moon rose in the distant sky, they saw a brightly lit mansion standing on the hillside.

Izenabi stood in front of the mansion's gate, turned around and looked at the examinees: "Well, my mission ends here. You rest here tonight, and tomorrow morning, the next exam will begin."

After he said this, he left without any further explanation, leaving a group of candidates looking at each other in bewilderment.

After a while, the mansion was still silent, without any sound from any living person, only the cold whistling of the evening breeze.

Because it was really suspicious, the candidates were a little paranoid and worried that this might be the content of the second exam and that the mansion was full of traps.

German, however, was not so worried. He thought, if there is a trap, there is a trap. He just needs to avoid it or counter it. The most important thing now is that he is hungry and a little sleepy.

While others were hesitating, German took the lead and walked out of the crowd and into the open door.

Hisoka smiled and slowed down a few steps, but still followed behind.

They just went in like that? Never mind, let them try and see if there is any danger in the mansion. The candidates were half confused and half surprised, quietly waiting for the follow-up.

After the two had entered the mansion for a long time, no screams were heard, which seemed to indicate that there was no problem. The candidates then felt relieved and filed in.

Over a hundred examinees entered the mansion and saw Hisoka looking at the painting on the wall.

But Germain entered a lobby, where there were several rectangular tables filled with all kinds of food, chicken, fish, beef, bread, apples, oranges, cakes...

He sat at one of the tables, picked up a plate of fragrant steak and placed it in front of himself.

However, the moment he picked up the plate, a strange noise came from behind.

A flying knife shot out from the quietly opened round hole and hit the back of his head.

Just as the candidates thought, there really was a trap in this mansion, and it was indeed the content of the second exam.

Izenabi only said, "The next exam will start early tomorrow morning," but did not say, "The second exam will start."

Many candidates who arrived at the hall couldn't help but exclaim in surprise and gloat over how recklessly Germann triggered the trap.

However, German seemed to have eyes on the back of his head and dodged the flying knife by turning his head. The flying knife stuck on the pillar not far away and continued to sway and make a buzzing sound.

Over the past month, German had to dodge various assassination attempts, which almost formed muscle memory in his body and made him work almost without slacking off.

German picked up the knife and fork next to him, but another flying knife shot over his head. This time he didn't even try to dodge, and the flying knife hit the dining table accurately.

This is a precise control of distance and absolute self-confidence, which made everyone's face break out in shiny beads of sweat.

German ate half a steak and reached for the biscuits. Sure enough, the trap was triggered again, and another flying knife came flying...

In this way, under the stunned gaze of other candidates, German leisurely enjoyed a wonderful dinner, then slowly stood up and headed upstairs.

As if nothing happened.
