Snowy Night Kiss

Chapter 7: A Person I've Liked for 1 Years

Chapter 7 A Person I Have Loved for Five Years
Jian Yi put the coat in the dry cleaners at a very high price. The day she got the coat back was the day she finished her last exam in the final week.

This year's finals week came earlier than in previous years, probably because the first snow in Kyoto fell early. Jian Yi handed in the answer sheet for his last economic law exam and hurried to the study room.

Winter vacation was approaching and this was her last day of part-time work at school, which meant she needed to find a new part-time job as soon as possible to cover her daily expenses during the vacation.

Jian Yi didn't expect Jian Chengfeng to give her money. She couldn't live a moment longer if she had to beg people for money. She would rather do a few more part-time jobs by herself.

There were not many people in the study room at this time. Jian Yi picked up a book on securities investment and read it. He looked up from time to time to see if there were any students from other schools sneaking in.

At first, she didn't notice when someone sat down opposite her.

Later, the boy accidentally kicked her under the table. When he stood up awkwardly and looked at her, Jian Yi was startled.

"Hello, school girl?"

Jian Yi raised her eyes to look at him and said in a normal tone, "Borrowing books, returning books, or applying for a card?"

"Neither." The boy spoke unsteadily and glanced at the book she was reading. "Are you interested in securities investment?"

"No, I want to see how I can make money."

Jian Yi put the book down and looked at him calmly. Her eyes were so calm that the boy mustered up the courage to come over, but he couldn't help feeling a little discouraged when he met her calm tone.

His tone became awkward: "Then may I ask if you have a boyfriend?"

"No." Jian Yi could already guess what he was going to ask next, so she simply answered, "I have a part-time job at school during the day, and I have to tutor at night. I don't have a relationship because I'm busy and don't have much time."

Three common pick-up questions for dating in college:
Do you have a boyfriend?
Why not fall in love?
Is there anyone you like?

Sure enough, the next second the boy continued: "Do you have someone you like?"

"No."

The answer to the question she had been asked countless times was just about to come out of her mouth, but Jian Yi stopped abruptly. She didn't know why she thought of someone at this critical moment.

If he wants to confess to a girl one day, he will definitely not be abrupt and boring and ask her about her relationship status like checking her household registration.

Her thoughts were suddenly distracted to other places, and Jian Yi forced herself to shift her attention back. She thought for a moment, her fingertips unconsciously hooked around her palm, and she said hesitantly, "I think so."

“But I’m not so sure yet.”

The boy looked at her in confusion and asked involuntarily, "What are you not sure about?"

If you like it, you like it. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. There is no question of whether it is certain or uncertain.

Unexpectedly, Jian Yi smiled and said to him, "I'm not sure if he is the one I like."

The boy just took it as an excuse: "How about we add each other's contact information first to get to know each other?"

"No." Jian Yi picked up the bag beside her and refused calmly, "I have someone I've liked for five years."

Even though it ended here, with an almost perfect excuse, the boy still didn't believe it and asked in surprise, "You actually have a crush on someone?"

Lin Qingruan said exactly the same thing when she called her later about this issue.

Lin Qingruan counted on her fingers that she had rejected three suitors this month. The school forum was abuzz with curiosity about who the person was that this goddess of the finance department had been secretly in love with for five years.

Jian Yi was silent for a moment, and only said, "I just made up a reason. I don't have a crush on anyone."

Lin Qingruan nodded: "I don't think you are the kind of person who would have a crush on someone."

"Maybe." Jian Yi snorted and laughed, "True secret love is a secret that can deceive everyone. Maybe I am lying to you."

The mist gradually dyed the sunset, and the city slowly went from the hustle and bustle of the day to silence. At the junction of light and darkness, another bigger carnival was brewing.

Lin Qingruan was touching up her makeup in front of the full-length mirror in the living room. She had recently bought a lot of new clothes, and the cramped room was no longer able to fit them all, so she simply piled them all in the living room. There was also a bottle of champagne on the table, and Lin Qingruan opened it with a corkscrew, poured a glass and handed it to her.

"Anyone can fall in love blindly, but I don't think you will."

Lin Qingruan recalled the first time she saw Jian Yi, it was backstage of a film crew, she was playing a minor role, and Jian Yi was helping backstage as an assistant. The work of the crew was not easy, but those stars were generous, and sometimes if they were lucky, the tips they got could support them for a month.

A director took a fancy to her and wanted to make her a big star.

He was a very famous director in the circle. Lin Qingruan was extremely envious at the time, but Jian Yi rejected the offer outright due to conflicts in his academic schedule.

At that time, for ordinary girls like them, entering the entertainment industry as a singer almost symbolized a class leap, not to mention that such a famous director took the initiative to extend an olive branch to them.

What did Lin Qingruan say at that time? She felt that this girl was too determined and must have a very persistent goal in her heart.

Later, this spot fell on her. On the day of the crew's wrap party, the director smiled and told her that a young girl named Jian Yi had recommended her before leaving, saying that she was from a professional art college and had a solid foundation.

She still lacked a favor in this matter. Thinking of this, Lin Qingruan suddenly stopped drawing her eyebrows and asked, "Do you want to see Jin Yanchen?"

The sudden mention of the name seemed to touch the most secretive layer, and Jian Yi almost thought that the deepest secret had been discovered.

She didn't know what to say for a moment, and her eyes flickered twice.

Lin Qingruan understood immediately, she laughed, "I owe you a favor, so I'll let you meet the person you want to meet."

It was only when Jian Yi woke up that he figured out the meaning of Lin Qingruan's last sentence.

That day happened to be Christmas Eve, and the festive atmosphere was extremely lively. Jian Yi drank half a bottle of champagne and slept until the evening.

When she woke up, the sky was dark and the world was cold and deserted, as if she was completely alone.

Jian Yi was nostalgic for this feeling of loneliness. Holding a small glass of unfinished champagne, she leaned on the balcony and leisurely looked at the scenery.

The light shadow standing quietly under the moonlight seemed to blend into the night. When the bright and clear light fell from the sky, Jian Yi vaguely saw a familiar figure.

Just then, Lin Qingruan sent her a message asking if she had any local restaurants in Beijing to recommend.

Without thinking too much, Jian Yi picked out a few restaurants that he thought tasted good and sent them over.

Then a car horn sounded, disturbing the swaying shadows of the trees on the windows, and the tranquility at the entrance of the alley was broken.

Lin Qingruan leaned out from the passenger seat and waved at her enthusiastically, "Yiyi, come down and play with us."

This is what happened. Lin Qingruan and Mo Yucheng suddenly disappeared after getting out of the car. Helpless, Jian Yi could only lead Jin Yanchen to the location he had originally booked.

This seat was originally reserved for Mo Yucheng and Lin Qingruan. The atmosphere on Christmas Eve was just right, with the candles flickering with bright light.

She specially booked a private room for couples.

Jin Yanchen sat opposite her. He was dressed formally today, in a well-cut dark black suit. The heating in the room was a little hot, so he reached out and loosened his collar. His expression was indifferent, and there was even a hint of obvious fatigue.

The atmosphere was extremely awkward.

After a while, Jin Yanchen took the initiative to open the champagne on the table for her, and said with a smile, "I'm sorry to bother you today. It's all because of other people's misarrangements."

Jian Yi smiled and said politely, "My friend may have misunderstood."

"It seems that the two of them are in collusion."

After the joke, the atmosphere suddenly became relaxed. Jin Yanchen looked at her with a faint smile, raised his glass and thanked her casually, "Thank you for helping me get the key last time."
