A baby dragon has built a nest outside the Novice Village
Chapter 36 Explanation
Chapter 36 Explanation
Reinhardt dealt with the two "corpses" of the undead and looked at Lanya beside him.
She was now wearing only a thin nightgown and standing barefoot on the dirt in the courtyard.
Not sure if it was because of anger, fear, or simply the cold, but her body was trembling slightly.
In the moonlight, Lania's petite figure looked pitiful.
"Go to the courtyard entrance, stop the ordinary guards, and only let the members of the Sun God Cult in."
Footsteps could be heard all around; the guards seemed to have noticed something was wrong and were rushing over here.
"I'm going to change my clothes first, and you'll accompany me to see the High Priest later."
After saying that, Lanya walked to the window and jumped into the room lightly.
The footsteps were getting closer, and when Reinhardt reached the entrance to the courtyard, he bumped into several guards.
"Sir, what happened?"
The old butler arrived.
A corpse dressed in the uniform of a mansion guard appeared before him, and the necromancy energy was dissipating from it.
The soldier saluted Reinhardt and turned away.
"Nothing special. Lanya told me to stop you here. Only people from the Sun God Cult can enter."
"Reinhardt."
"You'll know for yourself if you take a look."
"Only members of the Sun God Cult can enter."
Reinhardt stepped out of the way.
In the end, Reinhardt took the initiative to explain to him. The old butler didn't say anything, but just nodded slightly at Reinhardt to indicate that he heard it.
The clergy of the Sun God Cult arrived later than the guards. Their clothes were a little disheveled and they looked like they had just woken up from sleep.
Seeing Reinhardt blocking the entrance to the courtyard, the old butler stopped.
Lanya's voice came from behind. Reinhardt turned around and saw that she had changed into an elegant but not luxurious outfit.
Regardless of their position or strength, they all have to respectfully address Reinhardt as "Sir".
"So fast, it's only been less than ten minutes."
The soldiers recognized Reinhard, the personal bodyguard appointed directly by their master.
The soldiers looked at each other. It was obvious that no matter what happened inside, it was not something that ordinary soldiers like them should see.
It would be better to go and see it in person than to waste time talking to Reinhard, so he walked around Reinhard and walked into the courtyard.
The old butler did not ask any questions. When he saw that Reinhardt had no intention of giving way, he tactfully stood aside.
"What happened?"
For clergy who have not received years of military training, this speed is not slow.
The priest of the Sun God Cult frowned. He had already sensed the undead energy that had not yet completely dissipated.
Reinhardt turned and walked towards Lania, but he was thinking of his former teammates in the adventure team.
She was a female halfling, and before every adventure, the rest of the team had to wait downstairs in the tavern while she slowly chose her clothes and put on makeup.
At least half an hour.
Several missions almost failed because of her timeout. When Reinhardt thinks about it now, he still feels that it was the most nightmarish adventure in his life.
"I will go and explain this matter to the High Priest in person right away."
Reinhardt walked up to Lannia and heard her talking to the priest of the Sun God Cult.
The atmosphere was very serious. Reinhardt felt he could not get a word in, so he just stood aside silently.
"In that case, I will wait for the next instructions from the officiant." Lanya bowed slightly and led Reinhardt to the exit of the courtyard.
"Seal off the mansion and don't allow anyone to enter or leave. Oh, and to prevent possible assassinations in the future, clear out the bedroom next to mine and let Reinhardt move in."
When passing by the old housekeeper, Lania suddenly seemed to remember something and stopped.
"But, that belongs to my lady..."
The old butler noticed his slip of the tongue and finally just sighed.
"Okay, I'll do it right away."
Lanya took another step and walked past the old butler.
After dawn, the scenes recorded by those familiars will definitely be used to attack him.
Lania could even guess who would be the first person to jump out.
Those rumors will cause trouble to yourself, potential supporters will back off, and the suppression and attacks that follow will increase, but these are not fatal.
Most importantly, this would create a rift between the Sun God Cult and her, which was probably the real purpose of the manipulator behind the scenes.
The Sun God Cult and the Undead are irreconcilable. If they are not explained clearly, those straightforward people might really end the cooperation between the two parties just because the Undead appear in their mansions.
Just twenty or thirty years ago, there was a king who studied necromancy in pursuit of immortality. The end result was that his body and soul were completely burned to ashes in the "sunlight" filled with divine power.
The king was one of the famous sponsors of the Sun God Cult, and his annual funding amounted to hundreds of thousands of gold coins.
Lannia didn't think her status in the Sun God Cult could compare to that of the king.
"Master Priest, this is what happened."
In the church, Lanya explained the whole story to the priest in front of her.
Obviously, the high priest tended to believe Lanya's words. The Church of the Sun God had been investigating Lanya for several years. They were all experts in dealing with the undead. If Lanya had any relationship with the undead, it would be unlikely to hide it from their eyes.
"I can believe your words for now, but I will conduct a comprehensive inspection of everyone in the mansion and the Church of the Sun God."
But the matter still needs a full investigation.
"I hope you can understand. After all, I was wearing your uniform and did not trigger any external alarms..."
Lanya nodded. She had no intention of rejecting the Sun God Cult's proposal.
"I know, this means the undead appeared from within."
Lanya's tone remained steady, but Reinhardt found that he seemed to be able to gradually discern her emotions from her unchanging tone.
For example, now, she was suppressing her inner anger and a hint of fear.
"Although I don't want to admit it, there is most likely a traitor."
Unlike her brothers, Lanya does not have many subordinates. Except for those left by her mother, Lanya will personally review every newcomer before they join. Lanya trusts them.
Trust will eventually be betrayed.
"You will lead the morning prayer tomorrow."
The chief priest gave a few instructions to the deacon beside him and picked up the thick holy book on the lectern.
"Are you going there in person?"
The acolyte spoke up and said that detect evil was not a very advanced spell. A fifth-level priest could cast it dozens of times in a row.
"Yes, I will go myself."
The chief priest replied calmly, but his eyes fell on Lania.
Lanya knew what he meant. If she really had any collusion with the undead, it would be difficult for several level five priests to get rid of her under the protection of the mansion guards and other undead.
And the chief priest, as a strong man of level ten, can do it.
