The purpose of this layout is to ensure that at least 4 satellites can be observed at any location and at any time in the world.
The second generation of Beidou satellites are now being launched, but that does not mean that the first generation of Beidou satellites are useless. The first generation of Beidou satellites will continue to work for about 1 to 3 years, and then will continue to enter a closed state in the relevant orbits, and will be activated in emergency situations or used as target satellites for anti-satellite weapon experiments.
