Chapter 6 Meng Gua
The Mongolian hexagram is composed of the lower ridge and the upper gen. The hexagram is shaped as "", which symbolizes "Mengzhi".The upper hexagram "Gen" is a mountain, and the lower hexagram "Kan" is water: it is like a spring flowing from a high mountain, implying the gradual enlightenment and wisdom. "Tun" means newborn, and "Meng" means ignorance. The hexagram shapes of the two hexagrams are exactly opposite to each other, forming a pair.In the initial stage of the development of things, most of them are in a state of ignorance, and the development of people's wisdom is the primary task, which is enlightenment education. The central content of the Meng hexagram is to discuss the way of enlightenment. The purpose of the whole hexagram is to reveal the principle of "enlightenment and enlightenment", which includes both the way of being a teacher and the way of studying, reflecting a certain degree of educational thinking. The "Tuan Zhuan" in the hexagram also clearly puts forward the view that "enlightening the young is the merit of cultivating a "sage".The words "Tongmeng" and "Enlightenment" that are still used today come from this hexagram.

Meng: Henry. The bandit begged Tong Meng, and Tong Meng begged me.The first divination, report.Repeated blasphemy, blasphemy will not be reported.Li Zhen.

"Yuan" said: Meng, there is danger at the foot of the mountain, stop at the danger, Meng.Meng, Heng, Yiheng is also in the middle of the line. "The bandits begged Tongmeng, and Tongmeng begged me", Zhiying also. "Initial divination report" means to be just right. "If you profane again and again, you will not sue", profane, Mongolian.Encouraging righteousness is holy merit.

"Xiang" said: Spring comes out of the mountain, Mongolia.A gentleman educates morality with fruit.

Translation Mongolian hexagram: Tongtai. It's not that I have needs from naive and ignorant people, but that naive and ignorant people have needs from me.The first divination, the gods told him.The gods will not tell him if he repeats divination with contempt and disrespect. But it's still auspicious.

"Tuan Zhuan" says: Meng, the upper hexagram is Gen, Gen is the mountain, the lower hexagram is the ridge, and the hurdle is danger; Gen Yi ends, so it also means to stop when in danger. So the hexagram is called Meng.Obscure, but Tongtai, because well-timed actions are taken with understanding. "It's not that I ask naive and ignorant people, but naive and ignorant people ask me." This means that the relationship between the fortune teller and the fortune teller is mutual. "For the first time divination, (the gods told him)" is because he has firm beliefs and conforms to the principles of divination. "Divination with contempt and disrespect, the gods will not tell him." Contempt and disrespect are just the manifestation of ignorance. It is the work of a sage to cultivate an ignorant person into a person of chastity and integrity.

"Xiang Zhuan" said: The upper hexagram is Gen, which symbolizes the mountain; the lower hexagram is Kan, which symbolizes the spring. There is a spring at the foot of the mountain, and the spring water gushes out, which is the hexagram image of the Mongolian hexagram.A gentleman observes this hexagram and takes the law from the indomitable mountain spring, so as to cultivate his own character with resolute and resolute actions.

It is interpreted that the upper ridge is the image of the mountain, and the lower ridge is the image of the water. The spring water breaks through the obstacles of the rocks and flows out, which symbolizes the elimination of ignorance and the development of wisdom, which is very vivid.Human wisdom should first be manifested in the cultivation of morality, so a gentleman thinks of "cultivating virtue through fruitful deeds" in view of this phenomenon. For this reason, we must be as decisive as a flowing spring, and go forward indomitably; like a bubbling spring, we must practice virtue.

Sixth day: Enlightenment, using criminals.Needless to say, shackles, in the past, stingy.

"Xiang" said: "Using punishment to punish people is also to correct the law."

Translation Sixth Day: Cutting down mountains to reclaim wasteland, you can use prisoners who have committed crimes.Because they went to release their shackles, the result was disaster.

"Xiang Zhuan" said: It is beneficial to punish sinners with punishment, and it can be used to clean up the law.

Interpretation of traditional Chinese educational thought has always held that "strict teachers produce excellent students".The first line is the first line of the Mongolian hexagram, the position is the lowest, and the yin line is in the yang position.Fortunately, after all, in the initial stage of ignorance, plasticity is strong. However, discipline must be strictly enforced, and punishment should be given when necessary, otherwise it cannot be brought back to the right path.If it is allowed to slide, the result is a criminal in chains.

Ninety-two: Bao Meng, Ji.Nav, Kat.Zike's family.

"Xiang" said: "Zi Ke family, rigid and flexible."

Translation Ninety-two: Inclusive of ignorance, auspicious.Accommodate the dark, auspicious.Children can manage the family.

"Xiang Zhuan" said: children can manage the family, this is the result of the combination of rigidity and softness.

Interpretation Jiuer is a teacher who combines hardness with softness and can teach "hardness", so he can tolerate ignorant learners, and it is auspicious for smart people to tolerate ignorant people. The previous line emphasizes strict discipline, while this line emphasizes tolerance and tolerance. The two complement each other, so it is comprehensive.

Six three: Don't use to take a daughter, see a golden husband, don't bow.No profit.

"Xiang Zhuan" said: "Don't use it to take a woman, it will not go well."

Translation [-]: Don't rob a woman for marriage, you will be resisted by armed men, and you will lose your life, which is of no benefit.

"Xiang Zhuan" said: You can't marry a woman, and the six-three line is above the nine-two line.

Although the interpretation of the sixth day is stubborn and ignorant, it is still at the beginning of ignorance, not deep in ignorance, and has strong plasticity.Strict discipline can still be returned to the right path.Liusan is not the case. It is not a question of ignorance and stubbornness, but a question of bad character.Liusan not only occupies the yang position with the yin and yao, and is not in the middle or right, but also is at the end of the lower hexagram of the Meng hexagram. Taking advantage of the inferior position of the Ling and being upright and upright, he clings to Jiuer, who is also in the middle and is in the extreme position. Ninth, it can be said that seeing profit forgets righteousness, and avoiding evil and delusion, so "Xiang Zhuan" says that it "does not work smoothly"."Don't use to take women" is used in Yaoci to indicate that such people should not be accepted as disciples, because in this hexagram, Yang Yao is the teacher and Yin Yao is the disciple, so this metaphor is set up.This is a metaphor that is constantly used in the "Book of Changes".

June [-]th: sleepy, stingy.

"Xiang" says: The miserliness of poverty is the reality of being alone.

Translation Six Fourth: The sleepy lazy son will be in danger by cutting mountains and reclaiming wasteland.

"Xiang Zhuan" said: I am troubled by ignorance and ignorance, because I live alone and away from life.

Interpreting yin deficiency and yang excess is a traditional concept in ancient China. In this hexagram, the line of yang and reality refers to Mengshi, and the line of yin deficiency refers to Mengtong.Mengtong has no knowledge and is empty, so he should be open-minded to learn and develop wisdom. If you stay away from the master and don't take the initiative to get close, you will be trapped in ignorance.June Fourth refers to such people.Among the Mongolian hexagrams, only the sixty-fourth line is the most distant from the yang line, and it is neither directly compared nor directly corresponding to the ninety-two and upper ninety-two yang lines. Therefore, it cannot be enlightened by a wise master, and at the same time it is in the middle of the six-three and six-five Yin lines, surrounded by ignorant and dark air, and it itself occupies the Yin position with the Yin lines. From the subjective point of view, the temperament is dim, and from the objective point of view, the obsession is serious, and he is the most ignorant ignorant child, who urgently needs to be enlightened. Therefore, Guaci deeply regrets that June Fourth was trapped in ignorance.

Sixth Five-Year: Tongmeng, auspicious.

"Xiang" says: Childhood is auspicious, and Sunda is the same.

Translation Six Five: The boy is ignorant, auspicious.

"Xiang Zhuan" said: The boy is ignorant and auspicious because of his obedience and humility.

Interpretation: Ninety-two is masculine in the center and enlightens the group, which is a symbol of "a good teacher".The [-] and the June [-]th coincide, which is a symbol of the most ideal teacher-student relationship. This is the affirmed "Tongmeng begging me" in the hexagrams, which is of course auspicious.

Upper Nine: Hit Meng.If you are unfavorable, you will be a bandit, and if you are beneficial, you will be a bandit.

"Xiang" said: "Using the imperial bandits, the up and down are smooth."

Translation [-]: It is not good to use violent blows to enlighten the ignorant, and it is not good to be too violent, but it is beneficial to strictly prevent them from doing wrong and evil.

"Xiang Zhuan" said: It is beneficial to strictly guard against its wrongdoing and evil, which shows that the relationship between the upper and lower levels should be kept harmonious.

Interpreting the two Yang lines of the Meng hexagram represents two teachers with different teaching methods.Jiu Ergang is in the middle, able to tolerate groups of Mongolians and treat them leniently, so it is called "Bao Meng"; Shangjiu is in the upper position, extremely rigid but not in the middle, and uses strict measures to control Mongolians, so it is called "Bao Meng". .Mentoring teachers have different temperaments, and their methods of governing Mongolian are also different.Of course, the inclusive teaching method practiced in [-] is the most ideal. The method of "beating Meng" is prone to disadvantages, so special attention should be paid to grasping the measure. The principle put forward in Yao Ci is that when governing Mongolia, it must be strict and not violent, and the limit cannot be exceeded, and it is enough to prevent the other party from making trouble for the bandits.

In the Meng hexagram, the yang line is just bright as the teacher, and the yin line is dark as the child.Meng Gua advocates to accommodate the ignorant instead of excluding them, and to help them embark on a normal life path.At the same time, it advocates the combination of education and punishment, and severe measures should be taken when necessary.Only in this way can we get rid of the shackles of ignorance, eliminate the root causes of crime, and transform the negative factors of society.
