Chapter 44
The second kind of legend comes from Mo Jipeng's "Guangzhou Bloody Battle Notes", which says: Later, I heard that a certain gentleman in Zhuhua County said that after the Yu team lost itself, they rushed from left to right and could not get out of the city wall. After daybreak, Wu Zongyu led his troops to attack. Yu Nai went to Yuansheng rice store, gathered rice bags as a base, fought fiercely for three hours, and the whole team was defeated several times. When you are in a hurry, you set yourself on fire with a bomb—the dramatic battle at the Yuansheng rice store in Gaoyangli is said to be the final struggle.

The righteous man has gone far away, only to hear the lingering fragrance of chivalry.

(15) Sentencing you to death

When Huang Xing returned to Hong Kong, he was furious. Regardless of his right finger injury, he used his left hand to write a report on the Guangzhou Uprising, reporting the history of the uprising and the details of its expenditure.

Among the ten groups of rebels, when the incident was about to start, nine groups stood still, and only Huang Xing was bathed in blood and fire all the way. One can imagine the grief and indignation in Huang Xing's heart.

Huang Xing accused Hu Hanmin's younger brother Hu Yisheng of sitting idly by, especially hating Chen Jiongming the most, accusing him:
Competing with this person is not enough to share important events, but looking into his eyes is enough to know his insidiousness, which must be eliminated urgently to avoid future troubles.

After cursing these words, Huang Xing's injured finger had festered, and Xu Zonghan rushed him to Hong Kong Yali Hospital for treatment. While Huang Xing was hospitalized, Hu Hanmin hastily defended his brother:

If you succeed, you attribute it to yourself, and if you fail, you blame others. It's no joke!

When Hu Hanmin said this, he angered a person.

Zhao Sheng!

Revival.

This battle is for the Tongmenghui. Huang Xing's Huaxinghui and the Restoration Society have joined forces for charity. But when things come to an end, in the Tenth Route Army, all the volunteers of the Tongmenghui did not participate in the battle for one reason or another. Huang Xing's own Huaxinghui will be wiped out. , Zhao Sheng's Restoration Society was even more tragic. Of the 72 martyrs in Huanghuagang, there were 23 of them from Fujian alone. How could Zhao Zhaosheng bear this?

Zhao Sheng hissed in front of Hu Hanmin:
What happened to Hu Yi, I want to kill him!

What happened next became more and more confusing. Hu Hanmin invited Zhao Sheng, who was angry, to drink. Zhao Sheng returned to his residence after eating, but suddenly vomited blood and died!

Poison killing——!
When such a thing happened, even if the League wanted to prevent others from thinking this way, it would be impossible.

Tao Chengzhang of the Restoration Association concluded that it was Hu Hanmin who poisoned Zhao Sheng to death.

Not only the Guangfu Society, which had suffered heavy sacrifices, thought this way, but even some people inside the Tongmenghui couldn't stand it anymore.

Tan Renfeng, an old man who doesn't know how to play with guns, witnessed the Huaxing Society and the Restoration Society's bloody battle in Guangzhou, and he also saw Hu Hanmin's younger brother Hu Yisheng escape from the city, so when the news came that Hu Yisheng was killed by the Qing army, Hu When the Han people held back their tears, Tan Renfeng became furious and accused:
72 The martyrs are all brothers of my generation, and I have not seen you shed tears. How did you hear the sad news of your brother, so sad? Moreover, there are many rumors in the newspapers, so there is nothing to believe.

Tan Renfeng concluded that Zhao Sheng's death was caused by Hu Hanmin's poisoning, and even believed that Hu Hanmin's younger brother Hu Yisheng was not dead, so he publicly reprimanded Hu Hanmin at Zhao Sheng's memorial service and sentenced Hu Yisheng to death. We recalled that Qiu Jin had also sentenced Hu Hanmin and Wang Jingwei to death before returning to China. This Hu Hanmin had already been sentenced to death twice by the Revolutionary Party itself.

In short, the logistics work is not easy to do.

The 72 martyrs in Huanghuagang refer only to those who were buried in Huanghuagang. In fact, there were at least [-] martyrs who died in the Guangzhou Uprising. As a result, he was martyred, and no one knew his name.

(16) Head Scramble Competition

Li Zhun, the admiral of the Guangdong Navy, is considered to have a blood feud with the party members.Huang Xing swore that he must get his head.

Then the Eastern Assassin Group reappeared in the Jianghu, led by Huang Xing, kicked off the League, and liaised closely with Tao Chengzhang's Restoration Association, trying to take Li Zhun's head at all costs.

But in four months, the party member Chen Jingyue changed his disguise as a beggar and came here with a bomb. This time he was right. He saw a bomb dangling in the air, and it sank into Li Zhun's sedan chair. Hearing a loud bang, Li Zhun flew out in the air, hurting both his waist and right hand.

Why is Lee Joon not dead? That's because the elite among the party members who were most proficient in making bombs died in the Huanghuagang Uprising, so the power of the bombs since then has become more and more unbearable.

Li Zhun was furious: Who did I provoke? Why did you bomb me?

He caught the party member Chen Jingyue and interrogated him carefully. Li Zhun's soul was not scared away. Only then did he know that his head had become a contention for overseas party members. The lore attack came here, but they were not greedy for fame and wealth, but they were all the best young students in China. These students are all the talents most needed by the country, but they all threw themselves into this competition for Li Zhun's head. How can this not make Li Zhun startled and frightened?
Immediately, Li Zhun scolded himself: Did I eat too much fucking to support myself? Why do you have to dare to make things difficult for others? In the future, when this kind of thing happens again, I can hide as far as I can, so what's the point of being active? And no one gave you medals.

The change of Li Zhun's attitude has caused a lot of harm to Dan Maoxin, a member of the party.

At that time, Lao Dan was fighting with Qing soldiers with guns in Guangzhou city. He was killed by a group of Qing soldiers and was taken to Li Zhun's place.

When Li Zhun saw Dan Maoxin, he laughed and said, "Sure enough, those who know the current affairs are heroes. Since this revolutionary party has surrendered, you can take it down and serve it with food and drink...

But Mao Xin was in a hurry: "Your son Li Zhun, I didn't turn himself in... Who will listen to his explanation patiently?"Has been dragged down, served with good tea and food.

Li Zhun didn't dare to offend the party members again, so he didn't dare to kill Dan Maoxin. Everyone didn't expect this. After hearing that Lao Dan had surrendered to Li Zhun, all the party members were furious, and they all scolded Lao Dan... It took a long time for everyone to wake up. It turned out that Lao Dan had been wronged.

When Li Zhun's attitude turned towards the revolutionary party, most of the governors and yamen across China began to think about such a serious question: Party members can't afford to be provoked, and whoever provokes him will blow you up with a bomb. What should we do if we encounter this matter again in the future?
Revolution is not to be feared, only assassination is enough to fear.

When the regent Zaifeng learned of this, he said: Let's make a constitution, let's hurry up and make a constitution.

Then the constitution was established and a new cabinet was launched on May 1911, 5.

The new cabinet consisted of 13 members, including Prince Youqing and Lao Qing, who served as Prime Minister, Xu Shichang and Na Tong as Associate Ministers, Liang Dunyan as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Su Shanqi as Minister of Civil Affairs, Zaize as Minister of Zhidu, and Tang Jingsong as Minister of Education Among the ministers, Yinchang was the Minister of War, Zai Tao was the Minister of the Navy, Shaochang was the Minister of Justice, Pu Lun was the Minister of Agriculture, Industry and Commerce, Sheng Xuanhuai was the Minister of Posts, and Shou Qi was the Minister of Li Fan.

Among the thirteen cabinet ministers, there are nine Manchus, including seven royals.

The Qing court was in a hurry to establish a constitution, but the revolutionary party was silent.

In fact, the League has fallen into extreme despair.

In the battle of Huanghuagang, the elites of the party fought with all their strength, thinking that it was a desperate battle, but unexpectedly, it was still easily settled by the Qing Dynasty. How many outstanding talents are still able to devote themselves to this endless suicide action? ?
The most optimistic party members believe that within five years, the Tongmenghui will not be able to recover, let alone overthrow the Qing Dynasty.

The most pessimistic is Sun Wen, the leader of the Tongmenghui. He said sadly: I am afraid that I will never see the establishment of the Republic of China in this life-I cannot see it in time.

Sun Wen was completely disappointed in the future of the revolution, so he gave up revolutionary propaganda and went to Colorado, the United States, where he chose a very promising and legitimate occupation—cleaning dishes in a restaurant.

There are sectarian divisions, the revolutionary party goes overseas, the constitutional faction is determined to die in the court, the alliance is revived, and Yuan Datou's ambition is revived... The closer it is to the eve of the Wuchang Uprising, the more chaotic and confusing the political situation in Great China becomes.

(17) This is how Lao Tzu drags

In May 1911, tens of thousands of people gathered in Hankou to send Tang Hualong, the leader of the Constitutional School, to Beijing.

Tang Hualong said: "I am going to Beijing this time. If I don't overthrow the royal cabinet, I will not give up."

The constitutional faction's "reversal of the cabinet" has officially begun.

And established the "Xianyouhui", which is a bit like an association of constitutionalism enthusiasts. It contacted constitutionalists from all over the country to attack the imperial court, and at the same time released rumors to urge Yuan Shikai to come out.

Although Yuan Shikai is disgusting, he has an advantage after all. That guy is a real constitutionalist, who really promotes the political reform of the Qing Dynasty, unlike the current regent Zaifeng, who fools the world and creates a royal cabinet to deal with errands , how can this be tolerated?

As soon as the name Yuan Shikai was mentioned, it immediately attracted the attention of various forces in the court.

According to statistics, from the period when Yuan Shikai went home to recuperate from his illness to the eve of the outbreak of the Wuchang Uprising, it took a total of two years and eight months. There are as many as 106 news reports, of which 64 are related to his "coming out of the mountain".

In the news, the people who recommended or urged Yuan Shikai to come out of the mountain include the royal relatives Zai Tao, Zai Xun, Prince Qing Laoqing, Na Tong, Xu Shichang, Lu Chuanlin, Lu Runting, Zai Ze, Tang Shaoyi, Liang Dunyan, ... Li Xian Zhang Jian, the leader of the faction, and all the generals of the Beiyang faction... There is another rule.

In short, if all officials from the central government to the local government do not make noise and forcefully persuade Yuan Shikai to leave the mountain, they will look very old-fashioned and out of fashion...

These 106 news reports quickly gave birth to Yuan Shikai, the number one poet in the Qing Dynasty.

Everyone knows that Yuan Shikai, who started out in the army, suffered from ignorance all his life, reciting poems and composing poems, that would have killed him.

But since he was deposed by the imperial court and lived in seclusion in Shangde Huan Village, he suddenly became obsessed with writing poetry.

When members of the royal cabinet and Xu Shichang and others suggested that Yuan Shikai go out of the mountain, Yuan Shikai hurriedly picked up his pen and wrote a poem saying:

Last night, I listened to the spring rain and stepped on the green moss.

People come and the flowers are gone, so who do they bloom for?

Look, this poem still looks like that.

Then the generals in the Beiyang Army were agitated and clamored for the imperial court to invite Yuan Shikai to come out of the mountain. Yuan Shikai heard this and hurriedly wrote another poem.

Poetry:

Carving tired Qingyun road, fish floating green water edge.

Zhang Huan still felt shallow, so he asked Jiangcun where he was.

Seeing this poem, everyone thought about it for a while, and it seemed that there was no rhythm, and it seemed that there was a rhythm, and they couldn't tell for a while. At this time, officials of all sizes from all over the country were arguing fiercely, and they wrote letters asking Yuan Shikai to come out and do it quickly. official. When Yuan Shikai heard about it, he happily wrote:
The wind and smoke are boundless and boundless, and the waves are agitated frequently.

Send a message to all the old couples in Chang'an, wear plain clothes and wash the emperor Jingchen early.

What did Yuan Shikai mean by writing this poem?
Everyone can't figure it out.

Confused, he simply ignored it, and then some constitutionalists became angry and asked Yuan Shikai to become an official.

After hearing this, Yuan Shikai wrote another poem:
It is hard to get Xianzhou in life, and Taoyuan is within reach.

Baishou discusses and thinks about Uncle Bao, and Chisong is not ashamed to wait for him.

The sky is far away, the wind and rain are three springs old, and the rivers and rivers of the earth flow in several ways.

Don't ask me about the floating clouds at dusk, I wish I hadn't heard the strong rice at first.

...Look at this Yuan Shikai, he might be dragged.

But what does this guy mean?

(18) I went to the underworld

Yuan Shikai wrote poems slowly, but the constitutional faction gathered in Beijing was about to go crazy.

When it comes to the constitutionalists, they are a completely different combination from the revolutionary party. They are equally fanatical, but the revolutionary party is obsessed with violence and gets excited when they hear about assassinations and coups. All of them are fans of constitutionalism. When talking about the constitutionalism of European and American countries, they can't stop talking about it, not to mention tears streaming down their faces and fainting, which is not enough to vent their emotions.

Putting it this way, it becomes clear that constitutionalists are nothing more than aging revolutionary parties, and as revolutionaries grow older, sooner or later they will become constitutionalists.

Therefore, at the meeting organized by the constitutionalists, the presence of revolutionaries is absolutely indispensable.

Revolutionary He Haiming squeezed into the "Xianyouhui", together with Tang Hualong, the leader of the Hubei constitutional faction, Tan Yankai, the leader of the Hunan constitutional faction, and Zhang Jian, the leader of the Shanghai constitutional faction, crowded together lively, issued a statement, and cried loudly:

Hope is gone!

It's so good, how can hope be lost?
Probably because these weirdos from the constitutionalists have been poisoned by Western constitutionalism too deeply. When they heard that the imperial court established a constitution, they all took it seriously and flocked to Beijing to make a big effort to overthrow the cabinet. Although the political game of overthrowing the cabinet has become a political game in the United States and Japan. It's normal, but in China, at least for the regent Zaifeng, they would think that these courtiers acted in such a way that it was pure treason.

The Xianyouhui collapsed the pavilion for a long time, only to realize that it was just playing with oneself. The court ignored them at all.

From June 1911 to July 6, 11, the Federation of Provincial Advisory Bureaus wrote twice to ask the Metropolitan Procuratorate to act on their behalf, citing the public laws of various countries, demanding that "the monarch does not take responsibility, and the royal family does not organize a cabinet" Revocation of the Royal Cabinet.

The regent Zaifeng was very happy when he heard this, oh, with your constitutional patriotism, our royal family can't be patriotic? Our royal family just wants to be patriotic, that is, to form a cabinet? Are you not convinced? If you don't accept it, you will die!

Tang Hualong from Hubei and Tan Yankai from Hunan burst into tears and published the "Proclamation of the Nation", blaming the imperial court for "it is called the cabinet, but it is actually a military aircraft, and it is called a constitution, but it is actually an autocracy."

Tang Hualong threatened to take the route of armed insurrection, partner with revolutionaries, dare to bully my constitutionalists, I will never stop with you!

Tan Yankai threatened: If you want to follow the party line, if your court bullies our constitutionalists, I will find the underworld and hire a brother to kill you with a knife...

In short, the constitutionalists were going mad with rage, talking incoherently and confusedly.

The only one who remained calm during this time was Zhang Jian.

Zhang Jian said: You are all in a daze, the matter at the moment can only be resolved by... finding that poet.

poet?

Yuan Shikai!
So Zhang Jian sent a telegram to Yuan Shikai:
Don't live in a few years, come late to the public, please don't let him go out.

After sending the telegram, Zhang Jian boarded the train. In the car, his heart was agitated, Yuan Shikai, would he like to see him?It feels bad enough, because... because Zhang Jian is the number one scholar who is famous all over the world, the poem written by Yuan Shikai is almost enough to fool the silly maids in his family. hit the wall...

While talking, the train had already arrived in Zhangde, and before getting off the train, a well-built military officer ran up, holding a very large greeting card in his hand: But Mr. Zhang Scholar?

Zhang Jian thought to himself, what does this guy do?Answer: Exactly.

The officer prostrated himself on the ground, and presented a letter of worship: My master was overjoyed when he heard that Master Zhang was coming, and he specially asked the younger one to come and greet him...

Zhang Jian took a look at the word "Dou Da" on the sticker, and was overjoyed.

It turned out that Yuan Shikai sent his adjutant to pick him up.

Eight large sedan chairs hugged each other, and quickly sent Zhang Jian to Huanshang Village where Yuan Shikai lived.Seeing Yuan Shikai, who hadn't shown his face for two years, rushed out with his bare feet. The two entered and began to talk in secret.

Zhang Jian said: The two mainly discussed the issue of Huaihe River governance, and said...the Huaihe River must be cured.

Arrive at Zhangde at 28:[-] p.m. and visit the Weiting Pavilion in Huanshang Village. When talking about Taoism, I feel that the meaning of it is far higher than that of mediocrity. When discussing the matter of the Huai River, it is said that there is no self-government, and others will use it as an accusation. It is also said that it is not appropriate to discuss whether these things are beneficial or not. If the people can secure their jobs, the country will benefit.Especially eye-opening.

Looking at Zhang Jian's diary records, Yuan Shikai is really a humble man who dared not forget to worry about the country, it is really not easy...

These two guys, if you say that Zhang Jian ran this trip wholeheartedly, just to control the Huaihe River, no one would believe it if he killed someone else.

After talking about the Huaihe issue, Yuan Shikai looked at Zhang Jian with his strange eyes, and after a long while suddenly said:
One day, thanks to the grace of the emperor, he ordered Shikai to go out of the mountain, and I will follow the public opinion in everything. That is, do what you want. But I ask you, in all respects, to tell them my sincerity and to cooperate with me.

Zhang Jian was overjoyed!

This is what he wanted on this trip.

This meeting between Yuan and Zhang is of great significance. It marks the coming together of the two most powerful political alliances in China. Zhang Jian has found a satisfactory political leader for the constitutionalists, while Yuan Shikai has obtained a solid social backing.
