Master Huineng said: "Since the ancient Buddhas came into the world, there have been countless and immeasurable. Let's start with the seven Buddhas. In the solemn kalpa of the past life: there are Vipasin Buddha, Shiqi Buddha, Viscount Buddha, etc. Shefu Buddha. Today's virtuous robbery: Detaining Sun Buddha, Kanagamuni Buddha, Kasyapa Buddha, and Sakyamuni Buddha. These are called the Seven Buddhas. The above seven Buddhas are now headed by Sakyamuni Buddha Passed on in sequence: first, the Venerable Maha Kassapa, second, the Venerable Ananda, third, the Venerable Shanna Hexiu, fourth, the Venerable Upa Lata, fifth, the Venerable Tithaka The sixth is the Venerable Michaka, the seventh is the Venerable Vasumita, the eighth is the Venerable Buddha Nanda, the ninth is the Venerable Fudangamita, the tenth is the Venerable Hayat, and the eleventh 21. In the second year of Xiantian, at the age of Kuichou, on the third day of the eighth month, the master stopped fasting at the Guoen Temple, and said to all his disciples, "Sit down in your seat, I will say goodbye to you."

Fa Hai said: What teachings does the monk leave behind, so that future generations can see the Buddha-nature charmingly?
The teacher said: Listen carefully, the future generations will be charming. If you know all living beings, you will have the Buddha nature;I now teach you to recognize all living beings in your own mind, and to see the Buddha-nature in your own mind.If you want to see the Buddha, you need to know all living beings, and you are only deluded by the Buddha for the sake of the sentient beings, not the Buddha.If the self-nature is enlightened, all living beings are Buddhas; if the self-nature is deluded, the Buddha is all living beings.When the self-nature is equal, all living beings are Buddhas; when the self-nature is evil, the Buddha is all living beings.If your mind is twisted, it means that the Buddha is among all living beings.One thought is straight, that is, sentient beings become Buddhas.There is a Buddha in my heart, and the Buddha is the real Buddha.If you don't have a Buddha mind, where can you find the real Buddha?Your own mind is a Buddha, let alone doubt it.There is nothing outside that can be established, all of which are all kinds of dharmas that arise from the heart.Therefore, the scriptures say: When the mind is born, all kinds of dharmas are born, and when the mind is destroyed, all kinds of dharmas are destroyed.I leave here a verse, which is called the Self-nature True Buddha verse, to be different from you.People of later generations, who understand the meaning of this gatha, will see their original mind and attain Buddhahood by themselves.The verse says:
The true self-nature is the true Buddha, and the three poisons of wrong views are the demon kings.

When you are delusional, the devil is in the house, and when you are seeing the Buddha, you are in the hall.

The three poisons of evil views in the nature are born, that is, the demon king comes to live in the house.

Right view eliminates the three poisonous minds, and the devil becomes a Buddha, which is true and false.

The dharmakaya sambakaya and the incarnation, the three kayas are originally one.

If you can see yourself in the nature, it is the cause of becoming a Buddha and Bodhi.

Originally, the pure nature is born from the incarnation, and the purity is always in the incarnation.

Sex makes the incarnation walk the right way, and when it comes to perfection, it is truly infinite.

Sexuality is originally the cause of pure sex, and getting rid of pornography is the pure body.

In the nature, each separates from the five desires, and the moment one sees the nature, it is true.

In this life, if you meet the door of sudden teaching, you will suddenly realize your own nature and see the World Honored One.

If you want to practice and seek to become a Buddha, do you know where to seek the truth?
If you can see the truth in your heart, having the truth is the cause of becoming a Buddha.

If you don't see the self-nature and look for the Buddha outside, you will always be a fool.

The Sudden Teaching Method has been preserved, and to save the world, one must cultivate by himself.

Report to you that you should come to learn Taoism, and don't make this kind of view.

If they don't know all living beings, they will seek Buddha forever but it will be difficult to find them. Now I will teach you how to know and see all living beings in your own mind. To see the Buddha-nature of one's own mind. If one wants to know and see the Buddha, one must only know and see sentient beings, because it is sentient beings who cannot see and see the Buddha, and it is not the Buddha who cannot see and see all living beings. If the self-nature is enlightened and can be seen, all living beings are Buddhas; if the self-nature is obsessed and unrealized. Then The Buddha is all living beings. Self-nature is equal and equal, and all living beings are Buddhas; self-nature is evil and dangerous, then Buddha is all living beings. If your mind is dangerous and not correct, then the Buddha is reduced to all living beings. If one thought is equal and upright, then all living beings are all living beings. They have all become Buddhas. There is a Buddha in my original heart, and the Buddha of self-nature is the real Buddha. If you don’t have a Buddha heart in your heart, where can you go to seek the real Buddha? Your own original heart is a Buddha, don’t doubt it anymore There is nothing outside the mind that can be established, because everything is born from the mind. Therefore, it is said in the Buddhist scriptures: "The mind produces all kinds of dharmas, and the mind destroys all kinds of dharmas." I leave a verse today to say goodbye to you , This gatha is called the True Buddha Gather of Self-nature. People of future generations will recognize the true meaning of this gatha, and they will recognize their original mind and realize the Buddha way by themselves.” The gatha says:

The master said the gatha, and said: You are good to live. After I pass away, don't weep rain and tears because of the world's situation, be questioned by others, and wear filial clothing. You are not my disciples, nor are you Dharma.But knowing the original mind, seeing the original nature, there is no movement and stillness, no birth and no death, no going and no coming, no right and wrong, no dwelling and no going.Fearing that you are confused and won't understand what I want, I will ask you again so that you can see your nature.After my death, I will practice according to this, just like I am in the sun.If you violate my teaching, even if I am alive, it will not be beneficial.Repeat the verse:
Wuwu does not cultivate goodness①, vigorously does not do evil②, silently cuts off knowledge③, wanders without attachment④.

After the teacher said the gatha, he sat upright until the third watch, when he suddenly said to the disciples: "I will do it!"Embarrassed and relocated ⑤.

At that time, the room was full of strange fragrances, the white rainbow belonged to the earth, the trees turned white, and the animals wailed.

After I pass away, don't cry like the people in the world, tears like rain, accept other people's condolences and condolences, and wear filial clothing. My disciples are not in line with the true Dharma. As long as you see your own original mind and nature, there is neither movement nor stillness, neither arising nor destroying, neither coming nor going, neither right nor wrong, neither abiding nor going. I worry about you Misunderstanding, you can’t understand my true meaning. Now I’m telling you again, let you see your original heart. After I die, follow this practice, just like when I was alive. If you violate my teachings, even if I am alive, there will be no What are the benefits?" Then say the verse:

Wuwu does not cultivate goodness, flourishes without doing evil, silently cuts off what he sees and hears, and has no mind.

After Master Huineng finished speaking the gatha, he sat upright until the third watch, when he suddenly told his disciples and disciples, "I'm going!" He died suddenly and forever.

At that time, a strange fragrance filled the room, a white rainbow pierced the sky, and the trees in the mountains and forests turned white instantly, and the birds and beasts wailed and wailed.

In July of the following year, when the niche was released, his disciple Fang Bian covered it with incense mud.

The disciples recalled the memory of taking the head, and still used iron leaf paint cloth to secure the nurse's neck and entered the tower; suddenly a white light appeared in the tower, and it went straight up to the sky, and it disappeared after three days.

Shaozhou heard about it, erected a stele according to the order, and disciplined the teacher.There are six in the seventies of the teacher in the Spring and Autumn Period. In the 24th year of the year, he passed on the clothes, and in the 39th year, he wished to send ③.There are 37 people who have inherited the law, and the number of those who have realized the extraordinary is unknowable.Bodhidharma's message clothes, Zhongzong bestowed a mona treasure bowl, and the truth about Fangbian's sculptor, together with props, in Yongzhen Baolin Daochang.Pass down the altar scriptures to show the purpose, prosper the three treasures, and benefit all living beings.

At that time, the cigarette drifted straight to the direction of Caoxi Mountain.

In July of the following year, Master Huineng's body was taken out of the shrine, and his disciple Fang Bian wrapped the body in incense mud.

The disciples thought that someone was going to steal Master Huineng's head, so they first used thin iron sheets and linoleum to reinforce and protect Master Huineng's neck, and then invited them into the tomb tower.Suddenly, a white light appeared inside the tomb tower, and rushed directly into the sky, and it dissipated after three days.

After the governor of Shaozhou reported Master Huineng's deeds to the emperor, he was ordered to erect a stone tablet for Master Huineng to record the master's deeds.The master died at the age of 76. At the age of 24, he passed on the robes. At the age of 39, he was ordained and became a monk. He taught Buddhism and benefited all living beings for a total of 37 years.There are 43 disciples who have been personally taught by the master, and countless people have realized the Tao and transcended the mundane world because of the master's guidance.The Faith Cassock handed down by Master Bodhidharma, the Mona Cassock and crystal bowl bestowed by Emperor Zhongzong of Tang Dynasty, as well as the truth and Buddhist utensils that Fang Bian molded for Master Huineng, etc., will forever guard the Baolin Temple Dojo. The "Dharma Treasure Altar Sutra" is widely circulated, revealing the will of Dunjiao's sect, prospering and prospering the three treasures of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and generally benefiting and transforming all sentient beings.
