Chapter 8 Diamond Sutra (7)
① Good law: Symmetrical with "bad law".Refers to all the principles that are in line with the "goodness", that is, the law that is reasonable and beneficial to the world.Generally, the five precepts and the ten good deeds are regarded as good dharmas in the world, and the three studies and the six perfections are good dharmas beyond the world. Although there are differences in depth between the two, they are both dharmas that benefit the world, so they are called good dharmas.

The Buddha continued: "Furthermore, Subhuti, all dharmas are absolutely equal, there is no distinction between up and down, so it is called supreme enlightenment. As long as you don't cling to the appearance of yourself, the appearance of others, or the appearance of sentient beings, If you practice all virtuous dharmas, then you will be able to attain supreme enlightenment. Subhuti, the so-called virtuous dharmas, as the Tathagata says, are not real virtuous dharmas, but just It’s just called a good law.”

The Buddha further said: "Subhuti, if there are as many seven treasures as the Sumeru Mountain King in the three thousand great worlds, some people use these treasures to do charity. However, if someone uses this "Vajra Prajna Paramita Sutra" and even Just the four verses among them, if you believe in them, practice them, recite them, hold them, and spread them widely to others, then the former will get less than one percent of the latter's blessings, one hundred thousand one billionth. An infinite fraction that cannot be clearly explained by numbers or metaphors.”

"Subhuti, if the Tathagata says there is a self, there is no self, but ordinary people think that there is a self. Subhuti, if the Tathagata says that there is a self, they are called ordinary people."

The Buddha asked again: "Subhuti, what do you think? Don't think that the Tathagata has such an idea: I should save all living beings. Subhuti, don't be so tempted. Why? Because there are really no sentient beings for the Tathagata to save. If there are really sentient beings that the Tathagata will transform, then the Tathagata will fall into the attachment of self, others, sentient beings and longevity.

"Subhuti, although I claim to have a self, I am not the real self, but ordinary people think that there is a real self. Subhuti, the so-called ordinary person, the Tathagata said that he is not a real ordinary person, but a false name. "

"Subhuti, what do you think? Is it possible to contemplate the Tathagata with 32 signs?"

Subhuti said: "As it is so, observe the Tathagata with the 32 signs."

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, if you observe the Tathagata with the 32 signs, the holy king who turns the wheel is the Tathagata."

Subhuti said to the Buddha: "World Honored One, as I understand what the Buddha said, you should not observe the Tathagata with the 32 signs."

At that time, the World-Honored One said in verse: "If you see me with color and seek me with sound, you are walking in an evil way and cannot see the Tathagata."

The Buddha asked again: "Subhuti, what do you think? Can you witness the Tathagata by relying on 32 special and wonderful physical appearances?"

Subhuti replied: "Yes, yes, you can witness the Tathagata by relying on 32 special and wonderful physical appearances."

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, if you can witness the Tathagata according to the 32 kinds of special physical appearances, then the holy king of turning the wheel is the Tathagata."

Subhuti said to the Buddha: "World Honored One, according to my understanding of the Buddha's Dharma, I should not rely on the 32 special physical appearances to witness the Tathagata."

At this time, the Buddha said in verse: "If you want to see me by appearance, if you seek me by sound, this person will not be able to see the Tathagata if he practices the way of evil spirits."

"Subhuti, if you have thought this way, the Tathagata has attained Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi because the Tathagata has not possessed the perfect appearance. Bodhi. Subhuti, you should not have such an idea, thinking that the Tathagata It is not because of having the 32 kinds of special appearances that you can realize the supreme and perfect enlightenment. Subhuti, if you have such a thought, if you send out the supreme and perfect enlightenment bodhicitta, you will say that all dharmas are severance. Annihilating the nature of emptiness, you should not have such thoughts. Why? Those who arouse the Bodhicitta of Supreme Righteous Enlightenment do not talk about the appearance of cessation of all dharmas, do not grasp the appearance of dharmas, and do not grasp the appearance of cessation of extinction."

"Subhuti, if a bodhisattva uses the seven treasures of the world, such as the sands of the Ganges River, to hold and use generosity, and if there are people who know that all dharmas have no self, and can achieve patience, this bodhisattva will surpass the merits of the previous bodhisattvas. Subhuti said to the Buddha: "World Honored One, why does Bodhisattva not receive merit?"

"Subhuti, Bodhisattvas should not be greedy for the merits they make, that's why they say they don't receive merits."

Why? Subhuti, this is because all Bodhisattvas do not receive the blessings and virtues of the bodhisattva."

Subhuti asked the Buddha: "World Honored One, why do you say that bodhisattvas don't receive meritorious deeds to repay merit?"

The Buddha replied: "Subhuti, Bodhisattvas should not be greedy for the merits and virtues they have done to him. That's why it is said that Bodhisattvas do not receive merits and virtues of meritorious deeds."

"Subhuti, if someone says that the Tathagata comes, goes, sits, or lies down, they will not understand what I mean. Why? The Tathagata has nowhere to come from, and has nowhere to go, so it is called the Tathagata."

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, if someone says that the Tathagata also has appearances such as coming, going, sitting, and lying down, this person has not thoroughly understood the meaning and purpose of the Buddha Dharma that I have said. Why? The so-called Tathagata is really nothing. Where he came from, he has nowhere to go, so he is called Tathagata.”

"Subhuti, if a good man or a good woman thinks that the three thousand great thousand worlds are shattered into tiny dust particles, what do you think? Wouldn't it be better for the dusty dust to be numerous?"

Subhuti said: "There are many, World Honored One. Why? If there are dust particles, the Buddha would not say that they are dust particles. So what? The Buddha said that dust particles are not dust particles, they are called dust particles. World Honored One, what the Tathagata said about the three thousand great thousand worlds is not a world, and is called a world. Why? If the world really exists, it is a unity. Conjunction."

"Subhuti, those who have a combination of phases are unspeakable, but ordinary people are greedy for things."

The Buddha said that there are many dust particles. , in fact, it is not really a lot of dust, it is just a false name. World Honored One, the three thousand great thousand worlds mentioned by the Tathagata are not the real world, but the world in a false name. Why? If the world is a real world Yes, that is just a form of aggregation. The Tathagata speaks of a form of aggregation, but it is not a real form of aggregation, but a false name of an aggregated form."

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, the so-called aggregated form is indescribably wonderful. But some ordinary people just want to be greedy and clinging to have a real aggregated form."

"Subhuti, if someone says that the Buddha speaks of my view, the view of others, the view of sentient beings, and the view of life, Subhuti, what do you mean? Does this person understand what I mean?"

"No, World Honored One, it is people who do not understand what the Tathagata said. Why? The World Honored One said that I see, people see, living beings see, and the longevity sees. I see it, people see it, sentient beings see it, and the longevity sees it."

"Subhuti, those who have the mind of anuttara-samyak-sambodhi should know, see, and understand all dharmas in this way, so as not to give birth to the appearance of the dharma. Faxiang."

The Buddha asked: "Subhuti, if someone says that the Buddha preached about self, others, sentient beings, and life, what do you think, Subhuti? Do you think this person has thoroughly understood the meaning of the Buddha's Dharma?" purpose?"

Subhuti replied: "No, World Honored One, this person has not thoroughly understood the meaning of the Buddha's Dharma. Why? The Buddha said that the image of oneself, the image of others, the image of living beings, and the image of life are not real images of self. The appearance of others, the appearance of sentient beings, and the appearance of life span are just pseudonymous appearances of self, appearance of others, appearance of sentient beings, and appearance of life span.”

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, those who arouse the Bodhi mind of unsurpassed righteousness and enlightenment should recognize all dharmas in this way, understand them in this way, believe in them in this way, and do not have any dharma in their hearts. Subhuti, The so-called Dharma appearance, the Tathagata said it is not a real Dharma appearance, but a fake name of Dharma appearance."

All conditioned dharmas are like dreams and bubbles, like dew or electricity, and should be viewed in this way.”

After the Buddha said this sutra, the elder Subhuti, all bhikshus, bhikkhunis, upasakas, and upasakas, and all the gods, people, and asuras in the world, heard what the Buddha said, and they all rejoiced, believed, accepted, and practiced it.

The original meaning is "servant" and "servant", referring to those who serve or serve monks and practice.Buddhism takes it as a special term for male and female lay Buddhists.Upasai is free translated as recent events, recent event men, near good men, believers, believers, and clear believers.That is, male lay Buddhists who take refuge in the Triple Gem of Buddhism, Dharma, and Sangha, accept and uphold the Five Precepts, and practice good deeds.Upayi is translated as Qingxinnv, near-good girl, recent event girl, near-stay girl, believer girl, etc.That is, women who are close to the Three Jewels, accept the Five Precepts, and practice good dharma.Bhikshu, Bhikkhuni, Upasaka, and Upasaka are collectively called the four disciples of the Buddha.If Shichamana, novice, and novice are added, it will be the seven disciples of the Buddha.

③Everyone is happy, believe, accept and practice: it is an idiomatic expression in the conclusion of Buddhist scriptures.It means that after listening to this scripture, everyone feels the rareness of the Buddhadharma, can be filled with joy, believe and accept the Dharma spoken by the Tathagata, and earnestly practice the Dharma spoken by the Tathagata.

The Buddha said: "Subhuti, if there are people who give alms with the seven kinds of treasures that permeate countless worlds, and if there are good men and good women who have developed the supreme bodhicitta, accept and hold this sutra and even just the four verses in it, If you believe in it, practice it, recite it, accept it, and proclaim it to others, the blessings and merits you will gain far exceed those who give with the seven treasures that fill countless worlds. How should you proclaim this to others? What about the scriptures? Then you should not be attached to all appearances, stay in the emptiness of all dharmas and not be moved by the distinction of dharmas? Why? All the things in the world are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, shadows, and dew. It is like electricity, so it should be contemplated as such."

The Buddha has successfully preached this sutra. Elder Subhuti and many bhikkhus, bhikkhunis, upasakas, and upasikas present, as well as all the gods, humans, and asuras in the world, after hearing the Buddha's teaching, they were all filled with joy. Believe in and practice the teachings of the Tathagata.
