Grafting is a method of grafting a part of a plant (scion) onto another plant (rootstock) so that the tissues heal with each other and grow into independent individuals.Many kinds of woody flower and fruit flowers, such as rose, green peach, plum blossom, osmanthus, four season orange, camellia, rhododendron, apple, grape, etc. are all cultivated by grafting.In the art of chrysanthemum cultivation, Dali chrysanthemum and tower chrysanthemum are commonly grown by grafting.Cactaceae plants are also often propagated by grafting.The benefits of grafting and propagation are as follows.

(1) It can bloom early and maintain the excellent traits of fine varieties of flowers or fruit trees.

(2) Utilizing the strong adaptability of rootstocks, the stress resistance of flowers and trees (cold resistance, waterlogging resistance, drought resistance, pest resistance, etc.) can be improved after grafting. (3) Select dwarf rootstocks to dwarf potted apples, pears, cherries and other fruit trees, with early results, large fruits and good quality.

(4) Precious seedlings damaged by diseases, insect pests or mechanical damage can be repaired by grafting.

(5) Flowers of different colors and shapes can be produced on one plant, prolonging the flowering period and increasing the ornamental value.
