During the Spring and Autumn Period, there was a man named Yu Boya who was good at playing the piano in the state of Chu.It is said that Yu Boya played the qin with inscrutable skills. Even a horse would listen attentively to the sound of the qin he played. The sentence "Bo Ya drums the qin, while the six horses support the horses" in Xunzi's "Encouraging Learning" is a description of this.Yu Boya liked to travel in mountains and rivers, and often went out to collect folk songs.Once, when he was traveling by boat, he encountered strong winds on the way and could not cross the river, so he had to stop the boat in Hanyang.Zhong Ziqi, a hermit in Hanyang, met Yu Boya by chance. During the conversation, the two felt that they were like-minded, and they both regarded each other as confidantes. One day, Zhong Ziqi listened to Yu Boya playing the piano, and Yu Boya played a song first, which was aimed at the high mountains. Zhong Ziqi couldn't help admiring it silently: "Good music! It makes me feel like I have climbed a lofty mountain." Yu Boya There was a burst of relief in my heart, and I deeply felt that I was like a child. Then, he tried another song, which meant that the thousands of miles of rivers were rushing, Zhong Ziqi couldn't help dancing to the tune, and told Yu Boya that he felt as if he was in a mighty river and felt the majestic momentum of the rushing thousands of miles. From then on, Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi became close friends. They chatted, drank and enjoyed music, and were inseparable.Later, when Zhong Ziqi passed away, Yu Boya felt a emptiness in his heart. The confidant is gone, and no one can understand his music anymore. What's the point of owning this piano? So, in order to thank his bosom friend, Yu Boya held up his qin, which was so precious as his life, and broke it severely, and vowed never to play the qin.Within a few years, Yu Boya passed away in depression.People were moved by the deep friendship between Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi. They built Boya Qintai, also known as Guqin Terrace, on the bank of Yuehu Lake in Hanyang, and wrote two couplets to commemorate the two: aiming at the mountains, aiming at Running water; a guest of Heqiao, and a guest of listening to the piano. The green trees are shaded, and the fragrant grasses are accumulated. It is time to get fun. The narcissus has gone, and the woodcutter is not coming. Why do you move my feelings?
