A Father's Duty

After eating, I started cleaning up. Since the bar's sink is just in front of the counter, I could hear the conversation between them. Meanwhile Irene just sat down in a table, eating a bowl of the soup I made while listening to their conversation as well.

"Speaking of which, what are you doing in that armor?" The owner asked.

"I am searching for the seven deadly sins." she said.

"Them again? You don't even know if they're alive or not. Not to mention, they are dangerous, or so they say." Hawk said while snorting unhappily. Their customers ran out without paying their bills just because of a rusty armor with a woman inside.

The woman was about to speak when someone banged the door.

"Man, customers this days sure are noisy huh." The owner said.

"Open up! We heard a tip from the villagers that a person wearing a rusty knight armor came here! We serve the great holy knight himself! We are here to take the Seven Deadly Sins and bring them to justice!" The leader of the group shouted.

"Come to think of it? When was there a bar at this place?" Another man asked.

"It doesn't matter, if we catch the seven deadly sins member, we will surely rise up and become a great holy knight as well." the man who shouted replied.

"I can't get caught now! I still need to search for the seven deadly sins." The woman said panicking.

"Why are you fixated on something that impossible? You don't even have a clue on where they are." Hawk said.

"Because only they could save this kingdom." She said as Irene and the owner perked their ears up.

"Anyway, go hide at the back of the bar, I've got a plan. Come with me, Hawk!" The woman complied as she ran to the back while the owner and Hawk brought down the rusty suit of armor and wore it to Hawk.

"How about you two? Aren't you gonna escape?" He asked.

"Why are we escaping? Its not like we've done something wrong." I said and Irene wore her cloak and the Owner opened the door with hawk.

"Where is the rust knight? Bring him out!" The man in the lead said.

"Come out!" The owner said and Hawk appeared in front of their eyes, wearing the rust knight's armor.

"Were you looking for me? The rust knight, Hawk?" He said as he walked in front of the door.

"Th-this pig one of the seven deadly sins?" the follower asked.

"Of course he isn't!" The leader said.

"What are you saying?! I'll have you know that I'm the leader of the knights in charge of leftover disposal!" Hawk said.

"There is no such group!" The leader said.

"If this pig is what you're after, feel free to do as you please." the owner said.

"Like hell they can!" Hawk said as the leader finally got angry and grabbed the owner's clothes.

"You've got guts for mocking us knights?!" He asked before he spotted 2 person wearing a cloak inside and one of the two is covering the face with the hood.

The man shoved the owner aside and came in forcefully and stood before Irene.

"Remove your hood, and come with me. You as well. I'm pretty sure one of you is the owner of the rusty armor.

"I wouldn't touch the hood if I were you." I said with a nonchalant voice and it made the leader stopped for a second before continuing to try and remove Irene's hood. As soon as he touched her hood, he felt hot and saw that he was transported to a burning land. Everywhere he looked at is full of corpses and skeletons. Suddenly all of those corpses and bones moved and started getting closer towards him.

He also found out that he can't move, shout, nor do anything as the corpses and skeleton approach him. The corpses then dragged him down and the skeletons pierced his arms and legs to ensure that he won't be able to escape.

From the outsiders' perspective, it seems like he's just standing there motionless, but to the owner's eyes, he felt that she is on par or MAYBE even greater to his friend who is a mage as well.

If I was able to hear his thoughts, I would not be surprised about it. She's the mother of dragon slayer arts, also physiologically a dragon as well.

Dragons in fantasy worlds are described as the entities loved by elements. Their skins became harder the more they age and at their peak, their skin becomes immune to any elemental damage. And against an elemental mage, she would be bullying them.

The leader then screamed after being let out of the illusion. Hearing the scream, the woman at the back, felt guilty so she ran away and the knights stationed outside, split up and chased after the woman while someone kept an eye on their leader who just keeps screaming as if he's gone mad.

"What have you done to him?! Answer me!" The man who stayed behind said as he took the sword from the scabbard.

"Well, I did warn him not to touch her and he didn't heed my warning." I said still chilling at the bar counter.

"Since you've made a move against this kingdom's knight, you are regarded as criminals, take this!" He said as he ran towards me with the sword pointing at me.

"Aren't you going to save her? She's going to die, you know?" I said.

"Let's go, Hawk. Mind taking care of this place while we're out?" The owner said as I nodded.

The owner then left the place with hawk.

"Aren't you going to follow them, my love? It seems like you're curious about the two? I'll follow you after cleaning up." I told Irene to follow them as she nodded.

After Irene is gone, I scanned all of the owner's drinks and the system notified me all of the new drinks that I could buy from the system.

Meanwhile, Hawk and the owner continued chasing after them and when the knights are in sight,

"Go, Hawk! Tackle them." The owner ordered Hawk like a pokemon and tackled the knights one by one.

"I want some good food after this! You better hire that mister from earlier!! His food is so much tastier and eatable than yours!" He screamed before tackling another knight.

'It seems like they are travelling together, well, It doesn't hurt giving it a try.' The owner thought before focusing on the matters at hand.

"You can totally hit him, you know?!" Hawk said as the owner just shrugged and Hawk continued.

"Seriously, why do they think that girl is a member of the seven deadly sins?" Hawk said and the owner jumped down from the tree.

"So? Why are you so bent on finding the seven deadly sins?" The owner asked.

"To stop the Holy Knights." She replied.

"Why do you want to stop the Holy Knights? The Holy Knights are protecting the Kingdom of Liones. They're heroes aren't they?" Hawk said.

The woman then shared the circumstances to the two of them. On how the king and the royal family were confined and captured, fabricating a lie that the king is dead, she also told them that they are preparing for a war as they kept on recruiting people from towns and villages and drafting them to the army. She said that the seven deadly sins, who bear the mark of one of the seven beast into their body, is the only way to stop the Holy Knight's plan of war.

"So you're saying that each of the seven deadly sin has a mark carved into their body?" Hawk asked.

"Yes, if I remember correctly from what my father told me, it consists of a serpent, fox, grizzly, goat, boar, lion, and a dragon." She said as if she's trying hard to remember what it is. While they are talking, the owner called out to Irene who has been hiding in the dark.

"You can come out you know?" The owner said as Irene came out of the shadows. She isn't hiding her presence anyway. She is just listening to gather more information about this world and now know that she and her husband is inside Liones Kingdom.

"Uwaaa, is she an ȧssassin? How did she come out of there?" Hawk said making the woman confused as well.

Irene was about to approach them but immediately hid herself as the cliff they are standing on was cut off and they were falling.

"Whoops, I forgot to confirm whether they are the people from the report or not. Confirmed. Two unknown people, dead." A man holding a sword said.

"But, Lord Twigo, one of the knight is beneath that cliff." A knight said.

"Then we'll write three unknown people dead." Lord Twigo said

"That's cruel." a man replied.

"Then how about I report that all of you dead?" He said as he approached them. He was about to kill them when the owner carrying hawk, the woman, and the knight in his arms.

Lord Twigo is confused and angry at the same time because they ruined his confirmed kill and was about to attack them when he stopped when he saw the earring of the woman before grinning.

"To think that a member of the royal family is in here. It is said in the report that a royal family member has escaped and is on the run. To think that today is my lucky day, don't you think so, Princess Elizabeth?" Lord Twigo revealed and it shocked Hawk and surprised Irene and the Owner.

'No wonder she knows about what happened and what the Holy Knights are planning.' Irene thought

"The third princess, Elizabeth?!" Hawk shouted. Lord Twigo then started approaching them.

"Even though you are a princess of this kingdom, you dying in an accidental death, wouldn't held me accountable, don't you think?" Lord Twigo said

The owner then told Princess Elizabeth to run towards the forest and Elizabeth ran through the forest with the Owner and Hawk following her.

Lord Twigo then sent a flying slash attack and cut the trees horizontally while the owner saved Princess Elizabeth's life by pushing her down.

"It seems like you're alright. How about you, Hawk?" He asked Hawk who seems like he's about to cry.

"Does being skewered by something look fine to you?!" Hawk shouted and blood spurt out from his back as he cried and ran away.

Elizabeth then stood up and approached Lord Twigo and He sent another flying slash attack making the Owner push Princess Elizabeth out of the way in exchange for his sleeve. Irene remembered the mark said by Elizabeth earlier and knew that the owner is a member of the rumored 7 deadly sins.

"Why, why are you saving me? If he took my life then he would surely let you live." Princess Elizabeth said while tears started falling down her tears.

"Well, it looks like he's not going to let me go either." He said.

Seeing Princess Elizabeth crying, Irene can't help but be annoyed and was forced to reveal herself. She remembered the feeling of not being able to do anything to save her Kingdom as a princess of Dragnof.

"Stop crying! You kept on saying you won't give up on finding the seven deadly sins, so why are you acting like you've lost already?! Crawl even in despair! You might just be in luck to see hope at the end of it." She said towards Elizabeth as she wiped her face and forcefully stopped her crying. She felt like she is talking to her sister.

"Hoh? So a member of the seven deadly sins really showed up. Looks like i'm in luck." Lord Twigo said after seeing Irene and laughed before sending another flying slash attack to which Irene blocked the attack by using a barrier with ease.

"Looks like your reputation as a Sin is real." He said while Irene just stood there before walking away.

"I'm pretty sure you can clean this up, Owner, or should I say, Meliodas, the leader of the seven deadly sins." She said and Princess Elizabeth's eye widened as she was shocked to hear that the man in front of her is the leader of the Seven Deadly sins.

"Man, what a bummer. Why expose me like that?" The owner said with a chuckle and took hold of the hilt of the sword in the his back.

Lord Twigo turned serious as he sent another flying slash attack to probe him.

To his surprise though, he was the one injured and sent flying as he can't figure out what just happened.

"I'm pretty sure my sword should've hit you just now, but the one taking damage is me?!" Lord Twigo said.

Lord Twigo then saw the sword with a broken blade in Meliodas' hands.

"It can't be?! I've seen that blade before! But you haven't changed! Not a single change at all!" Lord Twigo shouted, he didn't believe that someone that strong is in this backward village.

"So you've finally realized who I am?" He replied.

"It can't be! That's just impossible!" He shouted and attacked him one more time with full power.

Meanwhile Meliodas simply used his magic to reflect the attack back to Lord Twigo.

"This immeasurable power! Its the real deal!" He said as the attack exploded back to him and was launched into the air by Meliodas' magic.

"Seven Deadly Sins, Wrath of the Dragon. Dragon's Sin, Meliodas...." Princess Elizabeth absentmindedly said and Irene heard it.

'Dragon's sin, huh.' She thought before going back to the bar.

Meanwhile I am stuck with Hawk as I'm treating his injuries and a person started falling down on us.

"Shinra Tensei." I muttered lowly and pushed the falling Twigo away from us.

"I think I saw a person coming down to us just now?!" Hawk said.

"Really? Maybe that's just your imagination." I said before continuing on tending to Hawk's injury.

Prologue(end) of seven deadly sins arc.

Announcement: Going back to single chapter release because of work and ruined sleeping schedule. Barely had a rest at all. So imma fix mah sleeping schedule. Will still try to release 2 chapters if I could complete the chapter within the day. For those who don't know, I don't stock up chapters because I want to see reader's reaction to the chapter before thinking of ways to mend some mistakes.
