A magical journey that begins in Azkaban

Chapter 22 Thompson’s Report

"Of course you can use gold Galleons, but Rogge, you have to think carefully." Percy leaned down and whispered in Rogge's ear: "The compensation will put a lot of pressure on the Ministry of Magic."

Rogge turned to look at Jessica, who nodded and encouraged him to make his own decision: "Thank you, sister, we decided to pay the difference in gold galleons."

"How about 60,000 gold galleons?" Rogge quoted a price. Percy still had no objection, but Thompson next to him jumped up.

"Impossible. If the market goes well, this villa can be sold for 200,000 gold galleons. Even if the compensation is deducted, you should at least pay another 100,000!"

"Well, I choose my 100,000 gold galleons. Give it to me now, immediately, immediately!" Rogge shook off the unsigned supplementary agreement, which had no legal effect.

"Miss Percy!" Thompson asked the secretary for help, beads of sweat broke out on his forehead.

"The property appraisal is in the hands of your financial secretary." Percy shrugged and went to the side to pour himself some coffee.

"Mr. Rogge, the price of 60,000 is really unacceptable. It's too little." Thompson quickly smiled in a flattering manner.

If the installment compensation agreement was aborted, he could imagine the look on the director's face. Maybe they'll kick him to the Arctic to guard the forest farm.

"I understand your difficulty, Mr. Thompson." Rogge said empathetically, "Why not readjust the way the property value is calculated?"

"For example, the location, decoration, depreciation, etc. of this villa. I think as a financial expert, this is not difficult for you."

"Just reassessing, isn't it?"

Rogge's suggestion made Thompson's eyes light up. As a Financial Secretary officer, he knows the valuation system inside and out. A slight change in some parameters can make the property perfectly meet expectations.

"I...I think this property really needs to be re-evaluated." Thompson understood. He quickly took out a blank parchment and began to write a report in extremely beautiful cursive fonts.

"I'm going to the bathroom." Miss Percy smiled and congratulated Mr. Thompson on his outstanding future.

"Riverside Villa (No. TW13, Lishiman Riverside) Real Estate Assessment Report"

Thompson looked at the magic map and wrote:

The property is a three-storey modern minimalist style villa located on the edge of London. Although it has certain living facilities and transportation network, it is far away from the city center, the surrounding facilities are relatively scarce, and the transportation is relatively inconvenient.

The property has a certain room for appreciation, but because it is close to a key river, the surrounding environment is humid, noise pollution is serious, and maintenance costs are high.

Thompson read and wrote at the same time. The content of his report was absolutely fair, objective, reasonable and convincing. No one can deny that the villa is in a remote location, and no one can deny that the Thames whistle will sound from time to time.

"Mr. Thompson, considering the future expansion of the Muggle population in London, we must also list the pollution of the Thames River as an important indicator."

"You are absolutely right, those Muggles don't know how to protect the environment at all!"

Thompson quickly filled in this part and nodded with satisfaction at the first part. He used his wand to break open the villa and examine its internal structure.

The property is large and includes a spacious garden, dock and other ancillary facilities. The floors in the living room and dining room were severely cracked, exposing the underlying bone wood, and needed to be completely replaced at an estimated cost of 10,000 Galleons.

Roger completely agreed with Thompson. The house was cut in half and the cracked floors were certainly serious! It must be serious, and very serious!

Thompson magnified the cost of maintaining the floors to £20,000, converted into the equivalent of gold galleons at the official exchange rate. As a Ministry of Magic official, and especially as a financial officer, he must strictly adhere to the official exchange rate.

The report went on to say that the ceilings of the master bedroom on the second floor, the guest bedroom and the study on the third floor were severely leaking and needed to be completely renovated. There are a large number of fantasy ivy, staghorn fern and other vines on the walls and roof of the property, which grow quickly and are extremely difficult to clean.

The garden is overgrown with weeds and must be completely plowed away. Taking into account the negative effects of some magical plants and the possible emergence of magical animals. When clearing your garden, consider additional medical expenses resulting from an accident. The total estimated cost of this project is 5,000 Galleons.

The magical facilities in the house are in disrepair, the carpets are badly damaged, and most of the spells need to be reapplied...

Thompson unknowingly wrote the fifth picture. In the report, a total of 45,000 extra fees were deducted, exceeding Rogge's expected goal.

"Mr. Thompson, for the sake of our friendship, why not use these 5,000 gold galleons as the purchase fee for Muggle equipment and electrification renovation fees?" Roger brought a cup of coffee and looked at Thompson with a smile.

"Friendship?" Thompson asked puzzledly.

"Yes, five thousand gold galleons of friendship."

Jessica's eyes on the hospital bed were slightly complicated. She knew in her heart that there was something wrong with the friendship that Rogge sent. At least at his age, this kind of friendship shouldn't be understood.

But she was very pleased that with such a mature heir, the Travis family would usher in a revival again.

"Maybe it's the Azkaban experience!" Jessica secretly blamed herself, these things should have been done by her mother.

"Ah! Too many...no, I mean friendship...I..." Thompson stuttered.

"I understand what you want to say Thompson, for the sake of our friendship!"

Mr. Thompson couldn't believe it. He made 5,000 gold galleons so easily?

The Financial Department is a small department of the Ministry of Magic, and its power is not as powerful as that of an authoritative department such as the Law Department, so the treatment of its employees is relatively poor. He has worked in the Financial Secretary for many years and his monthly salary is only 50 RMB. A friendship of 5 thousand gold galleons is enough for 9 years of hard work.

"I will write down various special budgets, such as those used to purchase equipment and books from the Muggle world... to prevent young wizards from being misled by pure-blood ideas." Thompson stood up quickly and respectfully asked Rogge for his opinion: "Look Is this okay?"

"Mr. Thompson, I trust your professionalism."

"I won't let Mr. Rogge down! Cars and small boats must also be added..." Mr. Thompson became more and more motivated, giving full play to his personal initiative and investigating the entire property in all directions without blind spots.

"We also need to redesign the underground room, such as transforming it into a potion making room..." The two nodded to each other and reached a consensus.

Half an hour later, Thompson had compiled the report and bound it neatly, waiting for Miss Percy's review. In this report, our dear Mr. Thompson has reduced the value of this three-storey house on the Thames to nothing.

A property with a market price of 1.5-1.8 million pounds is only worth 600,000 pounds in black and white. This takes into account the exchange rate and inflation (in fact, if Rogge hadn't stopped him, Mr. Thompson could have lowered the valuation even lower, maybe The Ministry of Magic also owes Roger a debt).

"It looks like you guys had a great time chatting." Percy flipped through it casually, sighing at Thompson's courage. Once a normally honest person awakens, the power he unleashes is truly jaw-dropping.

"The report is very professionally written." She closed the report without commenting too much.

The report was reviewed by the Financial Secretary, and the house was the property of the Ministry of Magic. What did it have to do with her. She is just an innocent secretary to the minister and does not understand these professional valuation systems at all.

“After Mr. Rogge’s reminder, I realized the shortcomings of this property in terms of location, structure, decoration and other aspects. I firmly believe that this report fully, detailedly and unreservedly reflects the true value of the property. "

With a dazzling light in Mr. Thompson's eyes, he understood why his colleagues at the same level could live a privileged life, but he could only work until the moon came to work every day. Maybe the Financial Secretary has always had unwritten rules, but it's a pity that I didn't know about them before.
