A Second Chance In Remnant

A few months have passed by and now there only a little over a year left until team RWBY joins Beacon. During this time Robyn has managed to tie not only Ironwood's hands up but Jacques as well for the construction of the new settlement to manage the aerial wind turbines with political back dealing and some promises plus favors. She was surprised at the speed of my construction because it did not take me long to build the aerial wind turbines, the settlement to manage them, and as a bonus, I also built a subway to and from Mantle to the settlement.

All this is possible because of the memories of both Atlas and Minstal's best architecture designers plus numerous other professions with magic making copies of them and my summons doing the work. The only hard part was gathering the necessary materials to build the settlement but it was still doable regardless. I also asked Robyn and Atlas's underworld to get me copies of the real contracts the Schnee Dust Company use to enslave Faunus to try and find any loopholes to free them.

Low and behold, there is a clause stating that if the worker suffers a disabling injury that they will be automatically terminated without any pay or help to overcome said injury. With magic, I can heal most things but only a few at a time but still this means I have a way to help out the dust miners and gain some residents for the new settlement. I went over the plan with Robyn and she immediately got behind it when I demonstrated cutting off my arm and reattaching it with magic.

I gave her the usual excuse of my semblance being copying other semblances to explain away any feats of magic. Needless to say, the Faunus dust miners jumped at the chance to not only get out of the SDC but get new jobs and better homes than the slums. After working out a schedule to give them injuries I can easily heal and setting up a council for the new settlement then the miners left in droves.

Not only that almost every Faunus in Atlas and Mantle decided to move to the new settlement now named Oath by the settlers. There only a few hundred Faunus living in Mantle and Atlas so there is plenty of room for the spot I picked out. It was a vast mountain range to the east of Atlas that while a great distance away but the subway I built can get them there in a few hours. Interestingly enough I have been receiving offers for management rights to Oath from Atlas's upper echelons.

Unless Robyn gives the okay I naturally refused politely, which was all of them. The council of Oath has been asking either me or Robyn to be mayor of the settlement but refused for different reasons. For me, I am not ready for that level of responsibility or interested in the position, and Robyn aims to change Atlas as a whole by being on the kingdom's council.

When Rory and Winter found out what I been up to they gave me an earful about not telling them in advance when I do something this massive (part of the reason is that they are both still busy with the aftermath of the White Fang's massive operation). I promised to give them a heads up next time and they quickly forgave me then asked if they could help. I just asked them to give me a heads up if the military makes any moves against Oath for the generators.

They were slightly hesitant to agree but ultimately they did which made me give both of them a deep kiss in appreciation. Ironwood came around to offer Oath "protection" and I gave him my most polite "Fu*k Off" by telling him the defenses I built for the settlement and a subtle threat of what would happen if the military sticks their noses were they don't belong. I have been setting up a settlement militia for Oath to better defend it along with the turrets that I set up plus attack drones.

The results surpassed my expectations with how diligently the Faunus have been training and how devoted they are to protecting their new home. I felt pride in the work I put in Oath and it is already been set up fairly well so when I leave I will not be worried about it.

At my office in my mansion in Atlas seating across from me is Jacques Schnee ( but his last name is Gele before marrying into the Schnee family so I generally refer to him as Gele instead in my mind). The reason he is here is that I am offering him a business proposal and his reply was.

Jacques: So let me see if I understand this correctly. You lured my workers away, set up a settlement that does not rely on dust, and now you are offering me essentially free labor in Schnee dust mine #2... So tell me why should I work with an animal like you?

I kept my face neutral despite his racist insult and told him my proposal.

Silva: First off you are not working with me but rather I am offering you a one-time transaction for a set of blueprints and a few hundred units of robotic laborers that are cheap to build and replace.

I brought up a hologram of the robot laborer which I took some inspiration from Star War's B1 droids that the separatists used in the clone wars. I then told him the pros and cons of these droids.

Silva: You see the B1 units are not only easy to construct but are cheap to build and transport. They are designed to work in tandem with a control center to handle their day-to-day operations and with limited supervision needed. The downsides being that they are easy to destroy and without the control center they enter their shutdown state. However, as I am sure that you are aware the biggest advantage is the fact that not only Grimm will not be interested in attacking the droids but if you no longer rely on Faunus labor the White Fang will be more inclined to attack other companies that do.

Jacques stroked his bleached mustache and the reason I know it's bleached is that I can smell it. I honestly felt he was pathetic because he is trying to display himself as a "true-blooded" Schnee instead of someone who married into the Schnee family and I am reading his thoughts with magic to better sell this to him to my advantage. He then asked with a friendly business smile.

Jacques: While this does seem appealing I can't help but wonder what you get out of this deal?

Silva: The reason I gave your former employees a means to leave your company is that I am not a bleeding heart filled with kindness but rather I needed some laborers of my own for some future endeavors and it was easy for me to exploit that disabling injury clause in the contract they signed. So I gain loyal hard working laborers in exchange for next to nothing all because I am a Faunus like them.

Jacques quirked an eyebrow and commented.

Jacques: That does not answer my question...

I smiled and flattered him making me feel like puking as I answered his original question.

Silva: You see Jacques I admire how you increase the profits of the Schnee dust company by several folds. Anyways to answer your question this is something of an apology for taking your workers so I am also giving you the necessary equipment to further your profits to make up for your losses.

He smugly replied.

Jacques: Apology accepted and I greatly appreciate your business, so how much for everything you offered?

He took the bait without suspecting a thing and I gave him the b.a.r.e minimum price that gives me no profit but no losses either.

Silva: 1 million Lein for the blueprints, the premade units, and manufacturing equipment to begin making more units.

Jacques: I must say you gave me quite the persuasive argument and I do hope any future business with you is of mutual profit.

I really don't want to do that again anytime soon but it was necessary to keep Jacques away from Oath and to give Ironwood another headache because it is easy to modify the B1 units into combat droids if Jacques but any of his R&D departments on improving them. With this business done I will be leaving Atlas in a few days and head towards Vale.
