The knob twisting sound only lasted for two seconds before it stopped. Sandra’s heart was pumping as she came to the door and she was very anxious. However, the sound of footsteps gradually faded away from outside the door, which made her eyes as clear as the sky and flashed with a trace of joy.

She had heard the footsteps of zombies countless times in the past month that she lost count. The footsteps that she heard were heavy and irregular. The sound on the other side of the door was very stern and steady— that was not a zombie!

There was only one answer and it was probably the owner of the armored vehicle that entered the dormitory that walked past her room. Sandra was still confused and puzzled.

‘So why did that person leave again? Did he think that there was no one here? Did he miss it?’ She felt her anxiety build up again. She didn’t know what to do. If she opened her mouth, she might attract the lurking zombies in her dormitory hall. If they knew where she was, she would be done.

In Sandra’s imagination, Crowe wasn’t a match for the zombies, and she didn’t think that Crowe would be able to come here and kill them one by one. Instead, she guessed that Crowe would be cautious to avoid the unwanted attention from those zombies. As Sandra’s anxiety and worry grew, she faintly heard a zombie’s roar outside her door. It only appeared for less than a few seconds before the screaming stopped abruptly.

Sandra thought that she was hearing things. Then, she heard a heavy sound. If Sandra didn’t put her ear to the door, she might’ve missed it. This time, she was sure that it wasn’t all in her head because the sound she heard was real. Her curiosity lingered in her head.

‘What happened outside? Maybe that person has been discovered by the zombies? Probably not. If he was discovered, it would be impossible for him to stay quiet.’ Countless messy thoughts flooded her mind.

She was only one step away from being rescued. Sandra’s calm and rational mind couldn’t help but become a little reckless.

Thud…Thud…

Suddenly, she heard the sound of steady footsteps coming closer and closer again in her ears and the sound interrupted Sandra’s nervous thoughts. Crowe went through all the dorms on this side, except for room 315. He had found two more zombies, which he killed, and gained two points. There were five zombies on the third floor, which was almost double the number of zombies on the first and second floors that he encountered. It wasn’t much, which disappointed Crowe as he could gain points by killing them.

Perhaps, he would’ve even been able to complete the mission. All of those points were necessary for him to progress and become stronger. The [10 Kills] streak was an achievement and so was the [100 Kills] streak that could assure his survival and also made him stronger and sharper in combat. After he left Room 315 and swept through all the dorms, Crowe confirmed that the female student who asked for help was most likely hiding in this room.

He knocked on the door of Room 315 with a moderate force.

Knock, Knock…

“Open the door, I know you’re in there.”

The pleasant male voice from the other side made Sandra quiver. Although she didn’t know what was happening outside, that noise alone was enough to attract zombies. Did he want to die? For a moment, Sandra felt terrible. She wanted to cry, but no tears came out.

Even when she was thinking about it, Sandra didn’t want to stay still. She quickly pushed the lock and opened the door as fast as she could. She didn’t have time to look at her surroundings so she quickly grabbed Crowe’s hand. She pulled him in fast then shut the door swiftly behind them.

There was a high possibility that the zombies would notice them and break through the door, the fact that Crowe had found her was because she sent out the distress signal. He came all the way here to rescue her. Otherwise, why would anyone be out there roaming those halls where there were zombies in such large numbers?

Therefore, even though she was afraid and nervous, she wouldn’t just leave Crowe out there and be eaten by those zombies that would come for her. She could never bring herself to commit such a heartless act.

On the other side, Crowe felt the soft grasp on his wrist. He raised his eyebrows and a trace of surprise flashed across his face. Was it because she had been hiding here for too long that she became jumpy?

He felt a small hand that was grabbing his wrist very softly to pull him in. Seeing the expression in Sandra’s eyes, Crowe was surprised. With Crowe’s body strength, if he didn’t want to be pulled in, no one would be able to even move him by an inch. Crowe was quite aware of Sandra’s intention, which was why he let her drag him into her dorm room.

As he guessed, Sandra’s intention was that she was more concerned about a possible zombie attack after the noise he made. Sandra shakingly shut the door and locked it, she was carefully listening to the sound outside. As she heard nothing, she knew that there probably wouldn’t be any zombies left outside her room.

Sandra quietly let out a sigh of relief and gently clutched her voluptuous chest. It seemed that she was lucky that the zombies didn’t notice her. Then, she whispered to Crowe with both gratitude and anger. “Thank you for coming to save us, that was too reckless. Risking unwanted attention by loud noises, all our lives could be in danger.”

With her arms crossed in front of her chest, Sandra was in front of Crowe. She was about 5’6 feet tall and her figure was set off by the pink pleated skirt. Her face was oval-shaped, and although she was a little thin and frail, it could be seen that the girl had a beautiful figure. Her appearance was subdued by her lack of food and water. Her fiery auburn hair was striking as it naturally glided down her shoulders and hung pleasantly at her waist.

Overall, Sandra’s appearance was still looking attractive. If she were to eat sufficiently and rest well, she would definitely be the university’s homecoming queen. Although Bastille University did not organize any official competition for their so-called homecoming queen, boys and girls would still gossip and chit-chat about a truly beautiful girl like Sandra. Coincidentally, after observing Sandra’s appearance up close, Crowe recognized who she was. She was a very well-known girl in the university. Many boys were after her and if they would line up, it would stretch as long as the length of the university itself.

Crowe was also stunned by her beauty when he looked at her. He knew that it wouldn’t be possible for him to even stand a chance. He was just an ordinary student with average grades and he was rather good at sports. Sandra, however, was the most beautiful girl in the university and her grades were always in flying colors.

However, all these feelings would have possibly been true before the apocalypse. Now, even if he recognized Sandra’s beauty and who she was, Crowe’s heart would not skip a beat for her at all. The circumstances had changed, and his status and abilities had been different than before. What Crowe was after was a powerful strength for combat and good resources to survive in this post-apocalyptic world. He wasn’t completely turning away from other joys of life, but it was just that it was not as important to him as it were before..
