Arganthes: The Capital Of Dungeons

Chapter 77 - 69: War is Coming!

Masiko carefully grabbed her bow and arrows, turned around, and aimed for the hellhound's head. Just when Masiko shot her arrow the hellhound pricked his ears and turned his head away from the hill.

The arrow brushed against the hellhound's ear and flew straight into a tree close to the creature. The creature growled, sniffed, and turned his head towards the hill.

Now it was looking straight at where Masiko was sitting. Searching for the prey he had its eyes on its eyes found what it was looking for. It could see Masiko!

Salvia leaking from its teeth... it started to growl.

*Grrrr* *growl*

The creature rushed towards Masiko.

She wanted to defend herself with projectiles, trying to shoot at the creature, but she couldn't.

Masiko was frozen in fear... She couldn't move... Masiko wanted to protect Isha and herself but she could not get her body to move even an inch.

"Move... move damnit..."

Isha didn't have enough time to grab her knife so she first needed to get some distance between the hellhound and herself. The hellhound was gnawing away on the stick. It used all his power to try and bite through the stick. *Crack* *crunch* *creak* The hellhound almost broke through the stick and Isha thought to herself; "It's now or never." With all her might she tried to lift the hellhound while he was holding on to the stick and threw it as far as she could.

It fell on its back *squeal* the creature stood up and turned towards Isha.

Isha had the chance to grab her knife and was cautiously awaiting what the hellhound would do. The hellhound looked at Isha with longing eyes as if it was really hungry. It opened its mouth and showed its teeth once again...

Now in the bright light of the full moon, Isha could see that the salvia from before wasn't salvia at all... It was some kind of purple poison substance. While it was dripping on the ground, the poison hissed and sizzled on the ground melting the grass away. *drip* *hiss*

The hellhound looked at her with a mocking expression and spat some of its poison towards Isha. She bȧrėly dodged but fell on her back and lost her knife.

The Hellhound kept spatting its salvia towards Isha and as he did storm towards her. Isha braced herself, she knew she couldn't do much more than she did just now. "This is it," she said to herself. The hellhound leaped towards her.

In a desperate attempt, Isha tried to grab her knife. She struggled closer. Just when the hellhound would leap on her she could get a hold of the knife and held it towards the hellhound. *Squeal* The hellhound screamed in agony. And fell on Isha. It appeared the knife hit the hellhound in one of his vital spots.

She pushed the creature on the ground turned the knife with all her might and killed the hellhound. *sigh~* "Are you okay Masiko?"

Blood from the hellhound his wound was dripping on Isha her hands.

"I... I'm okay. Don't worry about me Isha, it is just a scratch."

*Aarrgghh* Masiko grabbed her shoulder and fell to the ground.

Isha could see that the wound on Masiko her shoulder wasn't just a scratch but rather a few really deep bite marks.

Masiko kept screaming and twitching in pain as some kind of weird odor came from her shoulder, recognizing the odor, not from the smell but instead seeing that it was the poison that infected Masiko her shoulder and was slowly eating away from her wounds. Her shoulder slowly turning into stone and spreading towards the rest of her body.

"No!! Masiko!! You can't die here... think of the people... think of the boy!! Who is going to keep him safe if you are not there for him? Who is going to take care of him, my grandmother?"

Isha screamed with tears in her eyes as she saw the stone spread throughout the body. Masiko smiled and said; "Isha I couldn't have been happier to have met you, please stay safe and take care. See you in new life."

Just when Masiko finished talking she turned to stone and a tear escaped and fell from her eyes onto the ground.

Isha cried while holding Masiko in her arms. She lay Masiko on the ground, stood up, and dried her tears. Determined she kept walking towards Kerare struggling through the heavy winds and the stormy rains. The clouds cleared up a little and Isha could see the lighted night sky of the city.

Finally arrived at Kerare Isha kept running towards the nearest tavern to inform everyone about the planned attack to come.

"Please can you tell me where the mayor of the city is? I have come to warn the city!"

"Calm down young lady, what will it be? My colleague will get the mayor for you since it seems urgent. But first, you need to calm down a little."

"Could I have something to drink please?" Isha asked flushed from all the stress.

Isha sat down so she could rest a little while awaiting the mayor's arrival.

~The mayor walks down the stairs~

"Aah Mayor there you are, this woman came rushing in wanting to talk to you."

The mayor walked towards the bar and sat down next to Isha.

"Everyone says it seems to be urgent so let me hear your story."

"Ou... Our.. village was invaded by the Ryuushin and any survivors were either killed or taken into custody, but none of that matters right now! Mayor... Your village is in terrible danger... The army that did all this to us is heading towards Kerare."

"Hahaha, you must be kidding girly~ If the army that attacked your village would even come close to our city, we would know it long before they arrived."

Don't think lightly of this!! Isha screamed. "I want to prevent something like that to ever happen again!! You must take action... We must stop their massacre...

Please... please be more cautious, think of the people here! I am thinking of stopping their rampage here and now before all this turns into a war. Therefore please help me put together a team of professionals. A.. A small group of around 5 to 7 people would be enough.

Still, it should be people who have experience in ȧssassination and stealth tactics.

Because this has to be taken care of as fast as possible."

Isha said with glaring eyes. Tears were forming in her eyes and made them shine.

The mayor got worried and tried to calm her down.

"Now.. Now girly, please don't worry... the guards in our village should be able to hold an army of that size away from our gates. You know what?? You convinced me to help you prevent this from happening. Let me help you put together this team you need so you can be on your way to stop this menace."

"My fine young man behind the bar, could you get our best men to meet us here in a few minutes?" The man behind the bar nodded and rushed away.

"No need to worry young one, we will help you make a team, we will help you to stop this menace and bring this army to justice. You, sir behind the bar. Could you call my men to let them meet up with us at my place in ten minutes?" The man behind the bar nodded and rushed towards the telephone to make the call.

"If that army is as strong as she says this city will be done for... What this young girl doesn't know is that once I helped her get on her way I will take my leave and bring myself to safety" thought the mayor. Mwahahaha the mayor laughed silently thinking of his plan and worrying about his hide. Nothing could make him stray from his believes, in his eyes, nothing would be more precious than the life which had been granted to themselves.

"Young girl, we must hurry to my place, please follow me."

Isha nodded and followed the mayor. Unaware of the sly ways of the man.

It was raining outside and the wind was blowing heavily creating some eerie sounds in the process. Isha kept walking beside the mayor wondering if she could pull it off.

Am I good enough to stop them? Am I the one to save our tribe from this dangerous and dark era? Isha thought to herself.
