Chapter 31 - Focalor

By the way, I forgot to ask why Crocell said she wasn't good with Focalor.

Well, I guess it can't be helped.

"I command thee in the name of Norman, that thou shalt appear as a gale, and show thyself in the magic circle. Come here from any part of the world and answer all my questions with rational answers. Appear without delay in a peaceful form, and make my wishes come true. Come - Focalor, the 41st!"

As he finished his incantation, the magic circle began to glow.

Then a figure appeared.

"What? An angel?"

My words leaked out.

This is because, like Crocell, the figure seemed to have angel wings.

"...... Do I look like an angel to you? Well, wings are a good thing."

I thought it was an inarticulate way of speaking.

Then the light faded and the demon's form became clearly visible.

She did have wings.

But they were completely different from the wings of an angel. Or should I say monster wings.

They looked like the wings of a monster attached to a human figure.

Her hair was messy and unkempt, giving her a different impression from the cleanliness of Crocell.

"I'm not sure why you called me here, but I'm here to help.......?"

She was still speaking without inflection.

"Well, I wanted to learn wind magic, so I called Mr. Focalor."

"It is true that I am good at wind magic....... But why do you want to learn wind magic? I'm sure you'll be able to tell me why."

The reason?

I can't think of one.

I'm enjoying learning magic right now, so I can't really say why when I'm being asked for a reason.

"I want to learn a lot of magic and become a good sorcerer."

I'll give a safe answer.

"Well, then, I reject it. I don't want to teach you magic."

For some reason, she refused.

"Well, I mean, can you tell me why not?"

I can’t just leave her to walk away without any harvest.

At the very least, I should ask her the reason and take some measures.

"My power is capable of killing a lot of people."

"Hm"

"So, my power should not be shared with others unnecessarily. Because killing people is evil."

Well, what do you mean?

Murderers are evil? What is the demon saying?

Demons are supposed to kill people, aren't they?

"You're a demon, aren't you, Mr. Focalor?"

"Yes, I'm a demon......"

"You seem to have very unusual taste in demons condemning murderers as evil......."

"I have a thing for angels."

The demon yearns for an angel?

You're starting to sound very strange again.

"It's a great way to get a little closer to an angel, so I took this wing from a gargoyle and attached it....... Looks good, doesn't it? I'm sorry, I'm just smiling. Like an angel, I must refrain from laughing."

Then Focalor pressed his lips with his finger.

This demon started to say something funny again, that she admires angels, but what she is doing is devilish. She took the wings from the gargoyle.

"That's why I want to be a person who helps people like an angel. So I can't share this power of mine to kill people."

"Well, I don't want to kill people at all, but..."

"You said you wanted to be a good sorcerer. I know that sorcerers sometimes kill people in wars."

It is true what Focalor was saying.

There is a lot of history of magic being used in wars.

Now, what can I do to convince her?

I thought about it.

Then, I had an idea.

"Hey, Focalor. You say you dream of being an angel, but what exactly do you do to help people?"

"Well, I've at least helped a few people," Focalor said, slurring her words.

After all, as I had read, you don’t do much to help people. It's hard to help people when you're in the demon world, isn't it?

"Focalor, I have a suggestion, why don't we help people together from now on?"

"Help people?"

"You wouldn't say no, would you?"

"Uhm, of course I wouldn't refuse."

Focalor agreed.

My plan is this.

First, let Focalor help people and show her how magic can be useful in helping people.

Then, Focalor will teach me wind magic.

That's how it was decided that Focalor and I would help people.
