Chapter 39 - Healing Magic

When I tried out the explosive magic, my left hand was caught in the explosion, and as a result, my left hand was in a terrible condition.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I just said something I shouldn't have!"

Focalor bowed her head in panic.

"Oh my God, what should I do? I have to fix it, don't I? What should I do? Oh, I know, I'll go get Nene."

Crocell also ran outside quickly.

Surely, Nene can fix it.

When I sent Nene home earlier, Crocell and Focalor accompanied me to the mansion where she lives.

So they must know where it is.

But I didn't like the idea of the embodied Crocell visiting my parents' house, because I felt that something troublesome might happen, but my hands were too sore to think about any other solution.

"What's wrong with you?! Big brother!"

A few minutes later, my sister Nene came into the room, being dragged by Crocell.

"Oh, my God, Norman's hand!"

"I see, that's why! I'll fix it right now."

Nene immediately realized what was happening and started to work on it.

"What caused it?"

"Got caught in the magic of explosion......"

"Oh, I see. If I had to guess, I'd say the Human Palace."

Nene put her outstretched hand on the wound and said, "The Human Palace."

“In the name of Nene, I command you. In the name of Nene, I command you to show me your power with my own hands."

As she finished her chant, a magic circle appeared in the wound.

"The human body is always under the influence of the stars since most diseases are caused by them. Well, this time it's not a disease, but an injury.", Nene explained to me.

The basic course she's taking doesn't cover healing magic yet, so I guess that's a consideration.

"See, it's already started to heal."

Nene was right, the wound was indeed starting to heal.

About ten minutes later, my hand was back to normal.

"Thank you, Nene."

I thanked Nene, impressed by her healing magic skills.

"I'm so pathetic in comparison."

This incident was completely my fault because of my inexperience.

If there wasn't Nene, I don't know what would have happened.......

"It can't be helped. In my brother's case, you've just recently learned to use magic. It's not like you are going to get hurt by your own magic."

My sister encouraged me.

What a kind girl she is.

"More importantly, what are those things?"

Oh.

"The one on my hand," she said, referring to the sigil on my hand.

Oh no, maybe she'll find out about the demon summoning.

"That's a sigil, isn't it?"

"Let's see......."

I thought I should do something to cover it up, but I couldn't think of anything.

I looked at Crocell for help, but when I met her eyes, she just said, "Oh my God," and got upset.

"Are you studying inherent magic by any chance?"

"What?"

Inherent magic? What does she mean?

"Are you doing this without knowing it?"

Nene looks at me with a suspicious look.

"No, uhm, yes! I've been researching inherent magic for a while now!"

I affirmed with all my might, desperately trying to fool her.

"Isn't it too early for inherent magic, big brother?"

I remember reading about it in a grimoire.

I had read in a grimoire that you need to have a sigil to handle inherent magic.

I had forgotten about it, though, since inherent magic is not part of the basic course.

Anyway, it seems that if people see the sigil in my hand, they will only think it is for inherent magic. It was a big gain to know this.

"I'm slower than everyone else, so I'm trying to catch up."

I tried to cover it up with a lie.

I feel like I've been lying to Nene a lot lately.

"Well, I think you should do whatever you want to do, brother. But if you're going to do inherent magic, I think you should do it under the guidance of a teacher. If you do it on your own, you are likely to develop strange habits."

“It's a good idea to have a teacher to guide you through the process."

"I see, I'll do that from now on."

At first, I think I can cover up the fact that she's not sure about sigils.

"Or is it possible that Crocell is teaching my brother inherent magic?"

"Huh?"

Suddenly, when asked to talk, Crocell stuttered.

Nene gets kind of excited when she talks to Crocell, doesn't she?

By the way, Nene can't see Focalor because she is in a spirit state.

"I heard from my big brother that Crocell is a student of the Plum Magic Academy! I see, so you're doing your own magic under the guidance of Crocell. Then you can rest assured."

"Well, uhm, well......"

Crocell was just confused as if she couldn't understand what was being said.

Oh my god, by the way, I lied about Crocell being a student at Plum Magic Academy.

"What? But then, it would have been better to ask Crocell for the healing magic instead of me......."

Oh no, the lie is already starting to fray!

"Cr, Crocell is not very good at healing magic......."

"Oh, really?"

"But Crocell is great at water-based magic. Right, Crocell!"

"Yes, sure! I can do anything with water!"

Crocell also struggled to insist on matching the story.

"Oh, I see! I'd like to learn water magic from you, too."

Nene said this with a twinkle in her eye.

Phew, looks like we're going to make it through.

"I'll teach you that if I get the chance, Nene."

After Crocell made a vague promise, Nene said, "Well, I'll leave you two to yourselves again then.”

First, I have to explain to her about the lie I told Nene.

"- So, you lied to Nene about attending the Plum Magic Academy, right?"

"You shouldn't talk about demons that way, even if they're your relatives."

"Yeah, we're not supposed to talk about demons, so we can't help but lie about them."

"I guess demons have a bad image in the eyes of the public."

As I've already gotten to know a few demons, I don't have such a bad image of them.

"There are demons that want to harm humanity, and they are powerful. I think it's inevitable that they are feared by humanity because of their power."

I think Focalor was right.

It is not good to lie, but in this case, it is unavoidable.

In the future, I'm sure I'll tell more lies every time I hide a demon.
