Azeroth Monster Manual

#187 - The duel with Hakkar

“Young lady, shouldn't we just head back?”

“Don't… don't be a coward… Go back if you want.”

Lianda suppressed her whimpering, scolding the little maid with a fierce look but a weak heart.

Lola lowered her head, tightly clutching Lianda's sleeve as she walked briskly.

After some trekking, the two finally followed the Zero-Type footprints to Shadra'Alor. Through the dwarven soldiers guarding Shadra'Alor, Lianda learned that the young man she longed for was not there.

And so, the two pampered young ladies chased after the tail of the Allied Forces, arriving at the outermost perimeter of the Zul'Altar.

The ground was littered with the tragically dead bodies of trolls. These corpses were pale, some even shriveled and unrecognizable.

Lianda and the little maid had never seen such a sight, but to see Ai'Er, Lianda overcame the fear in her heart.

One can imagine how terrifying a love-struck mind can be.

“Young lady, that… that… that corpse seemed to move!”

The little maid pointed at a troll corpse, crying out in terror.

“Ah! Don't… don't scare me! A child who lies will swallow a thousand needles.”

Lianda's performance wasn't much better, but she still pretended to be strong, though her slightly trembling body and distorted expression revealed that this pampered young lady was just putting on a brave face.

“In… in any case, let's hurry on. When we get to my fiancé, he will definitely protect us!”

The young lady raised her pointed chin, revealing her swan-like white neck, and said proudly.

“He's not your fiancé,”

The little maid pouted, muttering softly.

Inside Zul'Altar, a group of Quel'Thalas's high-ranking combatants were entangled in a fierce battle with the blood god Hakkar.

Hakkar's originally illusory body had become incredibly solid, indirectly proving that his power had become even greater.

“Aurelia, try to use magic arrows as much as possible, this monster's body is immune to ordinary physical damage!”

Sardo Brightwing shouted to Aurelia, who was crouching behind cover and casting Aimed Shot, while running quickly.

Before the legion commander could finish speaking, a huge wind blade passed through the ground he had just passed, cutting a bottomless gap.

Countless wind blades gradually formed around Hakkar, shooting towards everyone in the field from various tricky angles.

Just as he lowered his wings, a sharp whistling sound suddenly rang out.

“Whoosh!”

A magic arrow flickering with cyan light shot towards Hakkar's avatar with a howling cold wind.

The sharp arrow pierced into Hakkar's “body” at a terrifying speed, then disappeared.

“Roar!”

A transparent hole was instantly left on Hakkar's body. The ranger general's magic arrow had wounded his body.

“Good job!”

Sardo gave Aurelia a thumbs up, and then he followed Aurelia's offensive and began to draw his bow and nock an arrow.

Dozens of light purple arrows were almost arranged in a row, flying towards Hakkar's two huge pupils.

[Arcane Shot]: High Elf Ranger Secret Technique (this is debatable, Night Elf Sentinels may also know it)

But unfortunately, the injured Hakkar had obviously become more cautious. Although Sardo, as a legendary ranger, had considerable strength, and the arrows he shot were incredibly fast, Hakkar's speed was obviously even better.

As Loa of the Wind Serpent, he possessed amazing speed and agility.

But even so, Hakkar didn't dodge, but quickly waved his wings.

In an instant, a strong whirlwind swept across the entire plain, and the arcane arrows with powerful kinetic energy flew into the clouds like toys.

“Damn beast!”

Sardo cursed, spat, and continued to draw his bow and nock an arrow.

Aurelia didn't delay either, drawing the string of the legendary longbow Thas'dorah, preparing her charged strike.

Anasterian and Bel'ovair, standing to the side, exchanged glances and nodded to each other.

The Sun King did not bring the Queldorei Golden Staff, which symbolizes kingship, this time.

But this didn't mean that he didn't have a suitable weapon. On the contrary, the Queldorei Golden Staff was just a symbol. The Sun King had a true artifact that belonged exclusively to him.

The long sword burning with blazing light was held high in front of the Sun King's chest.

“Phoenix Flame!”

The light purple arcane energy gradually assimilated with the flames on the Flame Strike, transforming into a purer flame magic.

As the Sun King chanted the incantation, a blazing white phoenix let out a light, clear cry, circled in the air, and flew towards Hakkar, who had just lowered his wings, at a speed invisible to the naked eye.

Watching the approaching Phoenix Flame, Hakkar's lips revealed a very human-like mocking smile.

“Humble maggots, I admit that your magic may have some merit, but it's only to this extent. I just need to gently…”

A harsh, ear-piercing screech rang in everyone's ears. Hakkar shook the wings on his body disdainfully, quickly rising into the sky.

However, things were not so simple…

Hakkar, who should have easily avoided the Phoenix Flame, seemed to be drunk, actually crookedly crashing into it.

“Boom…”

A violent explosion rang out, and half of Hakkar's body was directly blown open, revealing the thick blood mist inside.

However, the power of the Sun King's seventh-circle forbidden spell was obviously more than that.

Along with Hakkar's roar was the almost inaudible “crackle” sound.

The remaining flames after the Phoenix Flame exploded were still burning Hakkar's body, and these weak flames stubbornly scorched every inch of Hakkar's “body” like a bone-attached maggot.

“When exactly!?”

Hakkar did not let out a painful roar, but asked in confusion.

This body composed of blood and life essence had no pain, which made Hakkar's defense amazingly strong to some extent.

“Is it that ant?”

Hakkar's eyes scanned back and forth, until they stopped on Bel'ovair.

“Not bad illusion. To reward your bravery, I will grant you eternal death. Go and reunite with that old guy Bwonsamdi!”

Hakkar's vicious eyes flickered with scarlet light, his tattered wings shaking, as if accumulating power, preparing to unleash some dangerous magic.

“Scatter! He's going to counterattack!”

Aurelia jumped out of cover and shouted anxiously to the Sun King and Bel'ovair.

But Anasterian, as if he hadn't heard the ranger general's reminder, was still chanting magic in his own way.

Bel'ovair glanced at High Priest Fandral Staghelm next to him and shook his head at him, signaling him to retreat behind him.

A dazzling magic shield enveloped the three of them, and Bel'ovair released several protective magic barriers on the two people next to him before he breathed a sigh of relief.

“Bel'ovair… it seems you really are old.”

The Sun King suddenly stopped the magic that was about to take shape in his hands and sighed helplessly.

Fandral Staghelm and Bel'ovair looked at Anasterian in surprise.

“Your Majesty… what exactly is it?”

“Over 2800 years of long years have worn away your sharpness, turning you from an extraordinary powerhouse into an old man who is now sticking to the rules and shrinking back…”

The Sun King did not answer Bel'ovair's question, but shook his head with a look of loneliness, passed through the protective barrier, and walked towards the depths of the altar.

After hearing Anasterian's words, Bel'ovair seemed to understand something. His face turned from red to white, and then from white to green.

After a while, several people also noticed something strange.

Hakkar, who was brewing something in the air, seemed to be stuck, completely without any movement.

A gust of wind blew, and the oppressive evil god dissipated with the wind and disappeared.

“It's an illusion… that cunning beast used the same illusion as Speaker Bel'ovair!?”

Aurelia covered her small mouth and said in surprise.

“His Majesty had already seen through the flaws of that beast. If I could release the seventh-circle illusion like the first time, then…”

Bel'ovair gritted his teeth and said self-reproachingly.

“Let's go, we can't let His Majesty face that beast alone.”

Fandral Staghelm, who had been silent, finally spoke. He first patted his old friend on the shoulder, and then walked to the two legendary rangers.
