Colonial Suit
#1030 - Reactions
The destruction of a private plane was nothing more than a trivial matter to the universe, like swatting a mosquito or scraping off a patch of psoriasis.
But for many powerful individuals who had already occupied the top of the food chain and looked down upon the world as predators, it was a significant event. Because it touched the underlying rules, it meant that the foundation of the universe was loosening once again after the Great Chaos.
Second World, Morata Domain.
A dark void city existed eternally in the void, looming in and out of sight. On the highest peak within, the dark clouds above swirled like a vortex, and thunder rumbled. A burly man in ancient armor silently looked up at the sky, his face indifferent. A blood-red cloak danced behind him, snapping in the wind.
"It's beginning…"
He swallowed a few times, sighing softly. He raised his hand to touch the scars on his armor, a hint of anticipation flashing in his eyes.
"Finally, it's beginning…"
"Leia…" A soft murmur came from behind him, and a graceful female figure walked over, gently embracing him.
The woman's body was soft and gentle, like a breeze or a clear spring.
"I can't bear to part with you."
"…" Leia didn't speak, but raised his hands, opening them in front of him. His fingers were covered in calluses, his knuckles large, like ancient tree roots, marked with the traces of time.
"My bloodline…" he said, his voice like the rumbling thunder within his body. "Is yearning… is calling…"
"It's been so long… so long… since I felt this way… Mephandia, you know, this is my mission… the reason I still exist…"
"But… we don't have to participate…" The woman held Leia tightly, as if afraid she would lose him if she let go. "The destruction of the universe is a process that no era can change. What's the point of participating? Now that Krodir has disappeared… let it disappear forever."
"You shouldn't bear… such a heavy… burden."
"…" Leia didn't speak, but the light in his eyes flickered. Yes… Mephandia was right. Any rational being wouldn't bear such a burden. But the problem was that he wasn't just anyone, he was Leia, Leia of Krodir!
The King's gaze was behind him, the King's expectations never faded…
"Burden… or mission?"
Looking at his hands full of ravines and his scarred armor, Leia sneered silently. "Mephandia… I must leave… Thank you for your care during this time…"
"No." The woman's face paled, her eyes filled with panic hidden beneath the bandages. "We… still have time… still have time…"
"But after meeting, there will always be parting." Leia waved his hand, stopping the woman from speaking, and then walked forward.
Before him was an abyss, but he walked as if on a broad road, his figure slowly disappearing into the clouds. Behind him, Mephandia stood alone on the edge of the cliff, her bandages fluttering in the wind.
"There's still… time…"
She murmured, as if unaware of Leia's departure.
Meanwhile, in another sky, separated by an unknown distance, on a planet in the Fourth World, there was also a man gazing at the sky, his short black hair dancing in the wind, his eyes cold beneath his hair.
"It's about to begin…"
He said, reaching out to touch the scar on his temple. The veins there pulsed slightly, throbbing with surging energy. This was the price of power, and the necessity of growth.
"It's been more than seven years since the Ruins Incident… Hec, are you still alive?"
"But it's better if you're dead, otherwise you'd be restless seeing this."
"Poor guy… you left so cleanly. But what about her inheritance? You've been involved so deeply and grown so fast. I'm afraid even I can't take care of her now. Really…"
"She might even lose her life."
The black-haired man lowered his head, looking at his pale hands, but his eyes gradually softened. "Her… her smile…"
He murmured, then leaped into the air, disappearing into the vast clouds.
The perspective shifts again, to a desolate planet. This is a mining star in the Sixth World, abandoned due to resource depletion. The once glorious city has become ruins, with only the winding river still flowing. This small river had dried up many years ago, but time has given it new life. Patches of green grass are spreading along the river.
At some point, a small wooden house was built by the river, and two figures became its new residents.
One of these figures has short, fragmented blond hair and a handsome face, but he always sits in a wheelchair. The other is a young red-haired girl who pushes the blond young man along the riverbank every evening, chatting playfully with him. The man's expression is lazy and content, while the woman's expression is playful and proud.
Their life is peaceful, seemingly able to last forever, until eternity.
But today, as a wisp of dark cloud quietly rises in the distant sky, the man's smile freezes on his face. He silently stares at the sky, as if looking at a painting or deciphering a code.
After a long time, he sighs and says softly. "Really, it's unsettling. How easy was it for me to get where I am today?"
"Little Jay has already set off," the red-haired woman says behind him, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Is my inheritance that troublesome?"
"Believe me, darling, there's no one more likely to cause trouble than him," the blond man replies, but with a faint smile on his face. "But I have to thank him, because if it weren't for him, how could I have gotten you?"
"I think your skin is itching," the woman smiles slightly, reaching out to tap the man's forehead with her finger. "Gotten me? Who do you think you are? You dare to be so presumptuous, you little brat who used to get beaten up by me? Do you want me to beat you up again?"
"Hey, I'm disabled now," the blond man immediately pleads for mercy, pointing to his immobile lower body. "Don't you have any sympathy?"
"Nonsense. If it weren't for this, would I tolerate your impudence?" The woman blushed, not knowing what she was thinking. "I always have to take the initiative…"
"Cough… cough cough…" The man suddenly coughed, seemingly choking.
But when the smiles on their faces disappear, the woman sighs. "Are you going to participate this time?"
"I have to do something, you know, favors are hard to repay. Not to mention he's your inheritance," the blond man also sighs slightly, nodding.
"But your body…"
"A man can't say no," the blond man immediately puffs out his chest, looking strong. But his performance, as seen by the woman, changes its flavor little by little.
"So you've been fine all along… but you pretended to be injured, you… Hec, you're courting death!!"
"Ah!?"
The blond man immediately jumps up from the wheelchair, covering his head and scurrying away in a panic…
