Chapter 8: Battle! (This chapter is free)
The wind picked up. As Blood瞳's hair was tossed about, the gentle breeze across the plaza suddenly turned into a raging whirlwind, kicking up countless sand and stones. The bandits squinted.
But at that moment, in their blurred vision, a figure who should have been slumped on the ground sprang up like a leopard, leaping more than two meters high. A whip-like right leg instantly wrapped around the neck of the Hyena behind him. His leg bent, clamping the Hyena tightly, followed by a twist.
With a crisp 'crack,' the Hyena's neck twisted at an odd angle. His entire head was twisted to face his back.
At the same time, the usually disheveled Li'er suddenly curled up, pinched with two fingers, and pulled out a cicada-wing-thin blade from under her shoe, severing the ropes on her wrists with a backhand motion. The bandit pulling her felt something was wrong and turned his head, only to see a white light flash into his throat with chilling intent.
"Not good! This kid's gone crazy!"
Only then did the other bandits realize something was wrong. Several bandits who had been capturing Blood瞳 with the Hyena pulled out repeating crossbows from behind, frantically firing a volley of bolts.
Bandits who could survive in the apocalypse were no ordinary characters. Although they were caught off guard, their volleys were fast and accurate, sealing off an area around Blood瞳. With the powerful force of the repeating crossbows, the bolts could penetrate three-millimeter steel plates. Flesh and blood could definitely not withstand it. Several bandits could already imagine Blood瞳 being riddled with bolts.
But Blood瞳's reaction also exceeded their expectations. Although his shoulders were dislocated and he couldn't move, almost at the instant he snapped the Hyena's neck, he used the force of his leap to perform an aerial somersault, flinging the Hyena, still trapped by his legs, towards the bandits. A series of dense 'pfft' sounds rang out as the powerful crossbow bolts drilled countless bloody holes in the Hyena's corpse. At the same time, one of Blood瞳's hands just happened to touch the ground, using the momentum of the landing to press and shake violently. With a 'crack,' he actually re-attached his right shoulder joint himself. He then repeated the process, and both arms were as good as new.
"We've been had! He was prepared!"
Seeing this scene, the bandits who still didn't understand what was happening deserved to die. But Blood瞳's movements were too fast; they hadn't even reacted before he had completed these actions. And taking advantage of the sudden gust of wind, he was like a leopard launching a surprise attack, instantly traversing more than ten meters of space to arrive beside a bandit who had just opened his mouth.
This bandit was a target Blood瞳 had noticed long ago, because in his hand he was holding not a repeating crossbow, but a gleaming, dark blue hunting rifle.
Raising his left hand, Blood瞳 mercilessly delivered a palm strike to the bandit's throat. The ear-piercing sound of bone fracture had just rung out when he snatched the bandit's hunting rifle. Without even looking, he turned and fired a shot.
With a muffled bang, countless bloody holes appeared in the bodies of the bandits who had just raised their repeating crossbows. The hunting rifle fired buckshot. In this apocalyptic world, all weapons had been specially strengthened to deal with terrifying mutated creatures, so the power of this hunting rifle was extremely overbearing. One shot directly turned those bandits into sieves. Immediately afterward, Blood瞳 circled around the previous bandit, using him as a shield, and fired another shot. As the buckshot sprayed out, another group of bandits fell in the other direction.
The hunting rifle was an old model, with only two bullets. But those two bullets directly cleared out the bandits around Blood瞳. By the time Blood瞳 dropped the hunting rifle in his hand, there wasn't a single living figure around him.
Fierce, accurate, and cruel.
This was what Blood瞳 had displayed in just over ten seconds, filled with a violent aesthetic. As a hunter who had rolled around in blood, he knew very well how dangerous it was to be surrounded by dozens of bandits with weapons, but he relied on his timing and precise combat to break through the encirclement in an instant. Now, although there were still more than ten bandits left, it would be difficult to kill him.
In terms of hand-to-hand combat, Blood瞳 didn't take these burly men seriously at all. Without high-tech weapons, they were just walking corpses in Blood瞳's eyes.
"Ahhhhh..."
Perhaps Blood瞳's performance had stimulated these vicious bandits. Seeing more than a dozen companions die miserably in an instant, the remaining bandits went crazy. They grabbed the weapons in their hands and fired wildly. Crossbow bolts and buckshot struck the rocks, sending sparks flying.
But Blood瞳 had already flashed behind a large rock next to the plaza.
He had already surveyed the area. There were many such rocks in the plaza, enough to serve as his cover. More importantly, with these rocks, a winding line had already appeared in Blood瞳's mind. On this line, all the bandits who were currently attacking frantically were strung together like red dots. As long as he was willing, he could turn these red dots into cold corpses at any time.
But Blood瞳 didn't move. It wasn't that he didn't want to move, but that he didn't dare...
Because until now, Black Bear had not made a move.
As someone who had grown up in No.8 Shelter, Blood瞳 knew Black Bear's strength better than most people, and knew that Black Bear had once had a different identity before becoming a bandit leader.
Hunter.
This occupation differed from Predator by only one word, but the meaning was worlds apart. Because the targets of hunters were not ordinary beasts, but real mutated creatures. Their strength was much greater than that of predators.
In the chaos just now, not only had Blood瞳 broken out of the encirclement himself, but Li'er had also successfully hidden behind a rock under his cover. The two were now only a dozen meters apart. With Blood瞳's vision, he could even see the deep affection and pain in Li'er's eyes, as well as the dark marks left on her body from struggling against the ropes.
Blood瞳 still didn't move. The density of the bandits' attacks was also becoming thinner and thinner. Obviously, everyone knew Blood瞳's actions, and no one was willing to waste ammunition. The wind was still raging, blowing sand and stones like bullets, hitting the rocks and splashing out sparks. Amidst the flying sand and stones, Blood瞳 tried hard to open his eyes wide, casting his gaze towards Black Bear's location. Then he was stunned.
Black Bear was gone...
Beside that tattered and dirty stone platform, Black Bear's huge figure seemed to have never appeared at all. Seeing this scene, a chill couldn't help but rise in Blood瞳's heart, followed by an unspeakable sense of crisis.
Behind the rock more than ten meters away, the sorrow in Li'er's eyes deepened. She tried hard to open her mouth, as if wanting to shout something to Blood瞳, but across the distance of more than ten meters, and with the raging wind, her voice couldn't reach Blood瞳's ears at all.
Blood瞳 rushed out again.
He was not an indecisive person. Since he couldn't determine Black Bear's location, then he wouldn't wait. He didn't know how long the wind would last, but he knew what he should do.

No one could move freely under the pressure of more than a dozen repeating crossbows and hunting rifles. If he wanted to leave this hellhole alive, the remaining bandits had to die!
In the flying sand and gravel, Blood瞳 was like a hunting black leopard, moving at high speed close to the ground. He was so strong, so full of vitality. With each leap, the muscles on his body seemed to tighten and expand like whips. That beauty of strength and coordination was enough to fascinate any woman. In such ground-hugging leaps, Blood瞳 unleashed his full speed, traversing from one rock to another, dodging the enemy's attacks, and then killing the bandits one by one. Instantly, screams rang out one after another. Bandits were constantly suffering his poisonous hands.
In just a short while, Blood瞳 had killed almost all of the remaining bandits. Only one bandit was left because he was too far away, and Blood瞳 didn't have enough cover to jump over.
Hiding behind a rock, Blood瞳 stuck out his tongue and gently licked his lips, a bloodthirsty light revealed in his eyes. In this situation, the blood-colored spots in his pupils expanded even more, actually showing a tendency to dye the entire pupil red.
The last one... Blood瞳 suppressed the pleasure of killing in his heart and crouched down again. He had been to the wilderness and experienced deathly gales, so he knew the tricks of moving in the wind better than most people. Although that bandit was a bit far away from him, Blood瞳 believed that he would snap the other's neck after two traversals.
Applying slight force under his feet, Blood瞳 was about to leap out in the next moment. But before his figure could unfold, a strange "hiss..." sound suddenly entered his eardrums. Almost without even thinking, he rolled away from his original position. Then he felt a numbness in his body, and the rock that he had been using as cover was blasted to pieces. Countless fragments cut open large and small wounds on his body.
Enduring the severe pain in his body, Blood瞳 rolled and crawled behind another rock, his face instantly turning pale.
High-speed heavy machine gun, this was a weapon left over from the pre-civilization era. How could it appear here?
"You brat! You actually dared to kill my subordinates, I'm going to make you wish you were dead!" A frantic shout rang out in the wind. A burly figure appeared in Blood瞳's vision.
It was Black Bear, the cruel Black Bear. But unlike usual, he was no longer naked, but his whole body was wrapped in a mechanical armor. On the outer edge of his left arm, a six-barreled muzzle was still emitting wisps of green smoke.
Blood瞳's eyes changed again, becoming desperate.
He had guessed wrong. What Black Bear had taken out was not a heavy machine gun, but actually...
Armor!
