Demon Emperor Prodigy System
Chapter 9:Becoming a Prodigy
"Finally, after eight months of hard work, it is finally done", Lucifer stated. "After finding out, I can communicate with the system in my mind, I was finally able to progress", Lucifer thought. "I wanted to become as strong as possible after finding out about the current state of the world." "After being informed by the system about how the mana centre is malleable when one is young, I formed a hardened refined mana blade within my mana centre and divided my core in half."
"It was a considerable risk, but the possible payoff was even more significant, so I did it. My mana centre was already double the size of a conventional one for my age, so I thought there would be no risk at the time." "I thought wrong." Lucifer made a considerable lapse of judgement through a lack of experience when it came to mana centres and the core that is essentially the lifeline of the demon race. He underestimated his progress through meditation as he doubled his mana centre but that was not enough for such a risky operation to succeed.
"I was wrong. I nearly died, and for a month, my father had to supply me with his mana and the energy from beast crystals and even use an artefact that permanently increases the bodies ability to heal and can only be recovered after the users' death. It originally belonged to Gurdof, the original sin of gluttony," Lucifer continued within his thoughts. "After two months of healing and slowly recovering, I was finally fine, and that day is today." "The risk paid off, and both centres are stable with their separate cores supporting them." "Not only do I have two mana centres now, but I also have two mana cores as well instead of just a big mana centre with a single core; it is all thanks to the system and the support of those around me".
Later that day, the Demon King stated as he rushed into the room, "How can this be possible? Is the news I heard from my assistant correct? Don't play games with me. I don't have the time nor the mood for any jokes. We may be acquaintances, Talia, but in these times of conflict, I do not have time to spare on another silly joke, especially if it is something that can impact the future of our race."
The sin of lust Talia replied, "you know me since childhood, my majesty, even though I enjoy the simple joys of a joke and enjoy living with a carefree nature to cope with these times of war, the matter at hand is no joking matter, my King. Your sons' core had split. The potential of the child is immeasurable; he has a chance to become the strongest Demon in history."
"Is that the cause behind his recent condition that hath pulled me away from my work for a month and made me restless, Talia?" The King inquired.
"Most likely, we will have to wait and see if his condition will stay stable and hopefully, he will not intervene with your work again, my majesty," Talia responded.
"What if it happens again? Will his condition worsen? Will he survive?" The King questioned?
"He will die; it would be too much strain on his small body," Talia answered.
Lucifer thought about what they were discussing, but his understanding of the language was shallow at best as he only had a small amount of practice learning it through the system.
"Keep him stable, and if need be, help him start growing and accumulating mana within his centres as soon as possible." The King had ordered, looking at Talia.
"You probably already realised this, but we will need my son in the future, seeing how things are currently in the political sphere with war being a possibility at any minute. To help with defending the demons or ruling them as his destiny, he will need to gain strength sooner than others, if not for the sake of his race, than his own survival. He is my son, and I have a responsibility towards both my people and my family. Even if I am known as a dependable King, I am unsure if I could choose to sacrifice my own blood for the Bloodbound alliance. You have probably realised by now as you have spent a few days with the boy, but even if I die, there is one to replace me, and I have nothing to worry about anymore. The direct transfer of sin was a possibility, but the compatibility issues are something I always wished to avoid forcing onto someone." The Kings tone had softened as he now moved away from his role as the King and wished to find solace in speaking to Talia as a friend.
"Talia as a friend, not a King, I will make a selfish request. Please make sure my son survives and that he can become as powerful as he needs to be as quickly as possible to survive in this dark and blood-stained world of ours. So that when he looks in the abyss and the abyss stares back at him, he can destroy the abyss before it swallows him." The King has made a sincere request of his old friend
"Well, well, well, I did not expect of you to become so sentimental all of a sudden, Asmodeus. You never know; he might become a looker like his dad when he gets older. We might need more of those," Talia had said as she started laughing.
"Don't worry; I will start doing everything I can to help your son Asmodeus. I'm sure the boy will not only survive but also become the most powerful ruler in demon history," Talia continued.
"Even though the boy has the symbol of the sin of pride, I am not sure if I should be happy about a possibility of him as a future ruler. For the past few generations, we have been in recession getting weaker and weaker while those around us pray on our weaknesses and use our passive nature and powerlessness against us." The King had proclaimed his thoughts.
While the King and Talia discussed the future of Lucifer, all he could think about was how he could not train his new evolved mana centres.
"Well, seems I can't really focus on meditating with the lady always in the room with me; even though she is pretty easy on the eyes, her presence for the past few days has been less than welcomed with her not giving me any free time alone and continuously checking on me even though we are in the same room the entire time except for the moments where she goes to the toilet but having to sit up to sit down in this infant body takes too long for me to meditate correctly and she does not allow me to move around when in the room. I thought my progress had been stagnated." Lucifer was quite frustrated with his situation and voiced them to the system, but there was not much that could have been done.
Lucifer was shocked, but his mana centre was increasing, and he had no complaints; maybe his disliking will turn to a fondness.
There was a thought going through Lucifers head since his condition first worsened. That thought being "These demons did not seem all that bad, they seemed to really care for me, and I am sure if I had fallen ill like so in my previous life I would have been left to die"; "It seems I have become fond of those I had once forced into submission." Lucifer thought filled with regret over his past life.
