Dream Life - Life in the Other World of Dreams
Lesson 26: Library
Doctus is only called an academic city, and besides the School of Magic, there are many other educational institutions such as private schools. And there are many researchers in the School of Magic and Private Schools.
The biggest factor that brings its researchers together in this Doctus is the library.
The Praetalita Library, also known as the world's largest library, the Great Library, has a collection of books, also known as 700,000, more than three thousand years old in the old, and some BC objects.
The Great Library is used as is the main castle of the fortified city, the predecessor of Doctus, and is also the largest building in the city.
September 4.
I took a class for two days and couldn't find any point in continuing to take this class.
Yesterday, after examining the college rules, I confirmed that there was no limit to the number of days Liddy was attending. Just in case, I'll check with Dr. Bennett.
"I certainly don't rate you by the number of classroom attendances. This college will only be evaluated by exams in the first and second semesters... but won't my classes be so packed?
The teacher ends by saying he doesn't like it.
"I'm not going to say this to the teacher's class. Teachers have to follow this college's education policy, so I don't think I have a choice."
That's all I said, I bowed my head to him.
And today, September 4th, I didn't show up in the classroom in the morning, and I was here in front of the Great Library with Liddy and Sharon.
Since the library uses the castle fortress, it will enter through the castle gate, but there is something like a point of contact where you pay royalties. We show the sorcerer's orb and go straight inside.
The entrance to the library, which was covered in gray stone walls, was a thick wooden door commensurate with it. Make a noise, Gigi, and I'll push the door open.
Inside it is lit with a lot of lighted demon props, brighter than I thought. And that place, which would have been a big hall when it was a castle, was lined with bookshelves a few meters high and many hung ladders looking for books.
The smell of paper, leather, and slight ink tickles my nostrils. I'm a little confused by the unique smell of a used bookstore and a leather store. But Liddy went around in front of me.
"I miss you. This smell. And quiet... really, I miss it."
As she shrugged so, a young elf woman approached her like a scribe. The woman had cleavage intelligent eyes and smooth white skin, slender and tall, with rich blonde hair clustered behind her head. She wasn't as beautiful as Liddy, but she was a beauty who felt like a career woman could do it.
"Maybe, Lydiane? It's me, remember? Kitty, it's Kitty Erbain."
The clerk forgot to say it was a quiet place to call a library, and he called out to Liddy with an excited voice.
Liddy swung back to Mr. Kitley, "Kitley? Ah! It's really Kitty," I say, taking her hand.
Apparently we used to be familiar, and we're both surprised at the sudden reunion.
"Are you still a clerk here? Even though it's been over forty years?
Mr. Kitley gave a little mouth to Liddy's words,
"Excuse me. I'm still a professor at the academy. Well, I'm immersed in the library with the old days..."
Apparently, she's not a clerk, she's a professor at the School of Magic, and she was here looking for research material.
I think I get annoyed around, "It gets annoying here. You should move somewhere else," he whispered to Liddy.
The voice seemed to be heard not only by Liddy, but also by Mr. Kitley, holding his mouth like there was.
Then we went to a space like a conference room in the library, and Liddy was introducing us.
"It's Zacharias Lockhart and Sharon Jakes. They're my godchildren."
Liddy jokes and says so, but Mr. Kitley hears our names and turns his eyes round.
"You're Lockhart, are you? That Raspade teacher says he's one genius a thousand years, is he the chief child of the year?
I'm surprised by the words, but I'll get right back on track and introduce myself.
"I'm Zacharias Lockhart. Call me Zach."
Even after my introduction, her eyes remained open to say her face was still incredible.
And when Sharon finished introducing himself, he finally returned to me,
"It's Kitty Erbain. I'm still studying theology and history. You'll have classes in four years."
Mr. Kitley winks with his right eye closed properly. "Don't get your hands on my Zach," Liddy said, swelling her cheeks as I wandered off to that trick.
Mr. Kitley looked surprised and smiled, "Oh, I can't believe you said that," he said.
After Liddy and Mr. Kitley warmed up their old relationship, they explained why we came.
Mr. Kitley nodded, as I see,
"The point is, it's not useful in freshman classes, so you want to study for yourself."
"Yes. By the way, are there many people who study themselves without going to class like us?
Just in case, I check with Mr. Kitley, who is a professor and has a long college life.
"Right. There are two or thirty kids who come out of school every year. Well, I'll be down in two years."
I'm surprised at that number, I lose the word "two or thirty..." And he said, "What about the practical ones?," he asked.
"We're all going to get real moves. 'Cause this college is the most important thing to achieve."
And I'm like, "Really?" And I'm like, "So what brings you here to study?," he asked.
"I want to find out about darkness and metallicity. There's something else about compound magic..."
As I explain, Mr. Kitley gets the look of saying he found something interesting. And then I said I had a good book, and I went to the bookshelf.
I didn't know what to do, and I saw Liddy's face. "It's always the same thing," she laughed.
After a while, Mr. Kitley returned with about three books.
"I think this neighborhood would be nice at first. If you're not satisfied, tell me."
Her books include "Introduction to Dark Attributes: Practical Magic Learned from the Demon Clan” and “Additive Magic: A Metallic Spellbook," and "Is Two-Attribute Magic Possible? It was a magical reality by multiple attributes” three books.
I thanked her and talked to her about Sharon's book.
As soon as I explained, she nodded and came back with two books.
Sharon thanked him, and Mr. Kitley stroked Sharon's head as he
"So this little kid is the chief and the second seat. It's a good idea the guys up at the academy are panicking. Still, your godson... I can't believe that Lydia the Drag teaches people things."
"Oh, I don't want to be told by the lord of the library, the queen of old books, Master Kitley. If anyone who knew the time would hear that you were the only friend to be a professor and have until class, they'd all fall down."
Liddy and Mr. Kitley are paying for their poisonous tongues, but their faces were bright.
(This guy is one of Liddy's few friends, right? Still, besides us, you say things so clearly. This may be the first time I've seen Liddy like this......)
After talking for about twenty minutes, Mr. Kitley said, "I'm going to be free. After this, I have to go to that (...) Dr. Raspade," he said, leaving the room.
We can't keep using the conference room either, so we're moving to the library reading space.
I started reading the book on dark attributes that Mr. Kitley brought me.
The content of the book, in a nutshell, was an introduction to psychic attack magic.
In the form of an introduction to the magic supposedly used by the Demonic Nation, history and theories about mental attacks such as sleep, confusion, and fear were also introduced, as well as spells that could actually be used.
It just says in the wind that the Demons use it, but it's not actually what the Demons used, it's like what the Dark Attribute Magic user wrote down.
The Dark Attribute was a being that terrorized a person's roots and used its action to construct psychic attack magic.
Regardless of who doesn't work at night as I read it, I wondered if species like elves and beasts who work at night don't feel afraid of the darkness, but there was also a commentary on that.
The eyes of elves and beasts only have a high amplification rate of light, which cannot be seen in true darkness. For this reason, it said that we learn to fear true darkness more than man.
(I see. It's like a visible light multiplier (NVD), and it doesn't look infrared. Is my “vision enhancement" the same? I've never been to a place like a sealed basement, so I didn't know.)
That's what I'm talking about, but my eyesight looks pretty clear even at night, thanks to the enhancement of my eyesight gained in character settings. Even on a rainy crescent night covered in thick clouds it gets hard to see, but not completely invisible.
Magic using the nature of darkness works even without intelligence if it is a demon with instincts because it uses fear. For example, even insect-based demons are thought to feel fear according to their survival instincts, so psychic attack magic works to some extent. But supposedly it does little for primitive demons like slime.
Dark attribute magic is a convenient magic that can also be used against groups, such as sleep, confusion, and fear, but has a short range. Since this mediates darkness, it was written that the subject's vision needed to be covered and to use something like fog.
(I feel like it doesn't have to be fog or clouds... but I feel like it works even if you inject it directly into your body like an arrow...)
As for the dark attributes, this is what it felt like to read them thoroughly.
Another bad attribute, about metallicity, but this time Mr. Kitley brought me a book that was a collection of grant magic spells.
Reading the foreword of the Spell Collection, it was written that metallicity is specialized in the strengthening of objects that take advantage of the properties of the metal and in the processing of the metal itself.
In other words, there is little magic that acts on direct opponents, called attack magic, and they position supportive magic, such as strengthening weapons and protective equipment.
Also for the processing of metals, reference is made to magical refining and synthesis, commonly referred to as alchemy.
As for grant magic, spells alone cannot have a lasting effect, and there is a time limit. It said it needed to be combined with the magic formations in order to have a lasting effect.
(You didn't take the grant magic when you set the character. It doesn't say to what extent weapons and protective equipment are effective, but it could be quite useful in the current situation where the avant-garde is low......)
And about the last composite magic, but in conclusion, it was that the theory of composite magic spells had not been established. The flaming storm (Firestorm) I questioned is not seen as a combined magic of fire and wind, but as a perception of the magic of fire attributes.
The reason it was written in the book was that it was just vortexing the flames and not turning the fire in the wind. In other words, it seems like a recognition that flames are just formed in a spiral continuously.
It had been concluded that composite magic referred only to those using magic formations and could not be done with spells.
(Conversely, do you mean that you don't have to force it to be compound magic to get the same effect with a single attribute as long as the image is clear? But are you sure?
What was written in this book was the conclusion that compound magic was impossible from the composition of the spell.
Indeed, speaking from the form of a spell, it speaks first of all of the name of God of the necessary attributes, and then of the effect that he seeks. Then, imagine the amount of magic you give, while pronouncing a word of activation.
In other words, when the name of a two-pillar God was mentioned in the first phrase, it was an explanation that the Spirit of Power to be gathered would be confused and would not lead to activation.
But I was wondering if it was true.
(Doesn't being able to do it in a magic formation mean that even spells are possible if steps are taken? I feel like I can if I can control it well when gathering the power of the Spirit... well, it doesn't mean I really need compound magic, so come on you should think about it)
I used a cup in the morning to study myself in the library and the three of us went into the woods in the afternoon.
It was inefficient because of the waste of travel time and ended up just knocking down one of the ragged wolves that was wandering around.
From now on, I'm going to split it it between a day of self-study at the library and a day of monster hunting in the woods.
