Dream Life - Life in the Other World of Dreams

Lesson 45: Professor's Strength

October 6th.

He was supposed to take a lecture by Professor Lionel Raspade in the morning and take a practical skills class after lunch.

Professor Raspade does not have a lecture on defined boundaries. However, they are busy in December with intermediate exams and May with final exams in order to evaluate fourth and fifth graders.

They put it on their research at other times, and they are relatively free to receive guidance.

He says that this personal instruction of ours is also allowed on the condition that the professor feels comfortable with the time, but he says he can always do it. However, it has been declared that if I become obsessed with research, I will not be able to see anything else, so there may be a sudden cancellation.

I don't mean to get in the way of my professor's research either, so I'm going to be instructed every four days, that is, once between holidays - five and zero days are holidays in Doctus - with a degree of frequency.

Of course, I'm going to ask for the professor's convenience and ultimately decide to what extent.

Eat Sharon's made lunch in the college cafeteria and enter the professor's room at one o'clock this afternoon.

I was obsessed with research in the morning and didn't notice us, but it was just noon, so I had no problem this time.

As soon as the professor sees us, he gets up, says, "Then let's go to the school yard," and heads to the school yard in front of the school building.

I thought I was headed to the training ground where I took a practical skills class, so I was a little confused. Asking the professor about it,

"In your abilities, you can't use magic satisfactorily in the training field. Originally that place was in the Knights' Rain Weather Training Ground. It's a little tight..."

The professor says only one or two of the first or second graders will be performing magic training in the training ground. When some magic becomes available, there are many inconveniences in a narrow training area and training outdoors. Since practical skills classes are organized for each attribute in the third grade and above, students of attributes such as flashy attack magical fire, wind, and light are outdoors, and classes such as healing water, trees, and material conversion soil and gold are held indoors, he said.

Upon leaving for the school yard, students from third grade and above gather under lecturers for explanations.

I thought I would release the magic immediately, but there is no way to release the magic at all.

As I looked at it strangely, the professor explained to me, "Four or five shots in those students would be out of magic."

Be the first to hear an explanation of the day's challenges, unleashing the magic one by one. And they say the other students are going to see it and share their thoughts.

Speaking of which, me and Sharon never had a decent practical skills class, so we're oblivious to that kind of common sense. If you were taking classes in class, the instructor would have given you some explanation as to whether someone familiar with that sort of thing would have told you.

Me and Sharon were accompanied by Professor Raspade and came to the place where the fifth-grader-like upper classmates were. There was a sturdy wall made of stone, and a stone was installed on about two meters of soil.

I felt like tension ran among the upper classmates who saw the professor.

He seemed wary that it was also an exam to strike out. Their lecturer, a female lecturer of about thirty, was also surprised to open her eyes, but she soon ran under the professor.

She took a rough breath and said, "Ha-ha-ha, is there anything I can do for you? Dr. Raspade," he asked.

"Mr. Mayhew, I was hoping to rent you a place. I'll give these kids guidance."

The female instructor, called Mayhew, looked us in the face and said, "Are these the kids? The students to whom the teacher is directly instructed" will look like convinced.

And you were horrified that it had nothing to do with you, and immediately smiled, "Please use the far left end," and gave the place to the professor.

When the professor nods to Eagle Deep, he takes us to the left edge of the target. As we passed in front of the upper classmates, we heard voices saying, "Who is that?" or "Like Dr. Raspade said instruction," and he looked at us with interest.

Sharon thought her gaze was uncomfortable, or she was walking around trying to hide from me.

"The last time I gave student instruction was about a hundred years ago. It's been a long time, so I'm worried about where to start, but do you guys have any hope?

That being said, neither me nor Sharon thought anything of it, and the two of us looked at each other.

But I wanted to see the magic of the professor, a high-ranking magician, and I said, "Can you show me the magic of the teacher?"

The professor is asked back, "I am a triattribute of fire, gold, and earth, but do you have the magical hope you want to see?"

I wanted to see some fancy magic. Our master of magic, Liddy, has four attributes: light, wind, tree, and water, but the only magic that has an impact is about light attributes. Furthermore, she is the worst at light attributes and relies on wind attributes that she is exclusively good at attacking magic.

I asked for fire attribute magic.

"Can't you do me a favor with fire attribute magic? If you can, do the best level of magic you can use here."

The professor said, "Uhm. Then let's do a little work before we start," he said, walking away to a targeted place.

We rushed after him, too, and asked him what he was going to do.

Then he said, "Because walls may be damaged in this degree of soil. I was going to do a little reinforcement," he said, casting a magical spell called "Earthwall."

In front of us, a wall of dirt appeared about 50 cm high and wide.

I was surprised by its size and speed.

I myself made a bath out of soil attribute magic, but I can't produce soil this big. Perhaps even this half the size will run out of magic.

And at that speed, the speed at which I produce soil is about 10 cm thick and 1 m wide, about 5 cm per second. However, even though the Professor's earthwall is five times thicker, twice as wide, or ten times larger in area, the rate at which it grows up is more than 10 cm per second.

Sensibly, it feels like a gate of two meters of dirt is coming up with a lift.

Later I learned that the professor's soil attribute level is over eighty. Because my soil attribute level is about twenty, comparing it was also a tremendous level difference.

Without realizing my astonishment, the professor said, "That's about as good as it'll be," and after lightly tapping the dirt wall, he turned the dirt into stone with the magic of "stone production (createstone)".

A stone wall, like the one cut out of the castle wall, appeared in just a few minutes, and me and Sharon had lost their words.

I used to hear stories about castle walls in fortified cities that were made by magic, but it was true, and I thought it was out of place. It was so shocking.

The professor looks back at us as if nothing had happened, says, "This will do," and takes about twenty meters.

"I'm not good at fire attribute magic, but let's use the most powerful magic available in this place."

When the professor said so, after accumulating the power of the Spirit for about a minute, he began casting a spell.

"Ignis the Fire God. I do not ask for the spear of Hellfire, which burns everything down, and I will not give you the power of my life. My enemy, the spear of prison flames (Hellfire)"

It appears with a mighty pillar of fire, 30 cm in diameter and about five m long, overturned over the professor's head.

When the professor waved his right hand gently, its flaming pillars flew at an arrowy speed to the wall the professor had just built.

Since it was only a short distance of twenty meters, the pillars of flame clash against the wall without a second. The moment he hit the stone wall of a single rock, the columns of red flame disappeared emitting a bright white dazzling light and a loud noise called Dawn.

After the light and sound disappear, the walls become invisible wrapped in smoke.

And the smoke runs into the wind, gradually showing up.

There was a wall figure with the top half gone. I lost my word and stood up, just looking at the wreckage on that wall.

(Now you don't like fire attributes? A spear of prison flames? It wouldn't be a spear. That would be a broken castle hammer no matter what you think......)

"Is this good? Mr. Lockhart?

The professor calls out, but I just snorted and didn't say a word.

One of the reasons I lost my word was simply surprised by the magic of the professor, but I was terrified by the existence of magic.

Professor Raspade is a high ranking sorcerer among the sorcerers belonging to the Sorcerer's Guild, but he is not the best sorcerer in the world. As a researcher, I guess I'm superb, but I'm not as experienced in action as a magician in Sartooth - the kingdom of the north, with lots of elves and lots of magic.

Still, we can use all this magic of power.

The enemy I might be dealing with ahead of me is the kind of guy God would alert me to. For, not to this degree of magic, but something more powerful could be used. Can we fight such enemies in a few more years? I was more shocked by that fact.

I only managed to squeeze out "thank you" and listened to the magic now.

"Now the magic sounded like a spear of prison flames (Hellfire lance)?

"Exactly. Hellfire is a powerful single-attack magic for dragons and giants. Well, a shorter range for power is a weakness."

As the professor explains, I hear it's for dragons and giants, and I'm flabbergasted.

(dragon...... giant...... sure this power would only have such an opponent except to use it to attack the castle......)

That's when I finally realized something was wrong around me.

Sharon is still completely frightened, and instead of the fifth graders, even a female lecturer called Mayhew has lost her word and stood up.

Perhaps seeing magic so powerful is rarely the case.

"Well, let me show you your magic too," said Professor Raspade, smiling.

Beat Sharon on on the shoulder not recovering from the shock and restore him to sanity for now.

And I decided to unleash magic from me, but it's a corner, so I thought I'd recreate the hellfire I just saw.

I know the spell, but to consolidate the image, I will remember the magic I just saw.

(Pillars of fire will be able to. But the moment I hit the wall, it looked like it exploded. If so, is it a form of explosion magic? If you were to recreate an explosion with fire attribute magic, gunpowder would be the easiest to imagine... you can't make things the same size, so why don't you try increasing the density...)

I imagined two things.

One is shells. It is a shell that consolidates the power of the Spirit of Fire.

And the other thought about raising the temperature. Professor's spear of prison flames (Hellfire lance) was orange in color. The only way to increase the power is to increase the density, i.e. increase the temperature. Totally memorable, but an orange flame would have had a temperature of about two thousand degrees. If I imagine white, I wonder if it would be about twice as hot.

Instead of spears, I decided to use a ball of fire (fireball) to imagine a shell.

"I will look at the magic of the teacher and shoot a fireball that has changed my image slightly"

When I say that, the professor nods with an expectant look.

"God of Fire (Ignis), who commands fire. I do not seek the fierce flame of your family, the Spirit, and I do not give you the power of my life. Burn through my enemies! Flaming Bullet (...) - Fireball -!"

I raise my right hand high and cast a spell, making shells about 10 cm in diameter and 20 cm in length. The activated word used for the spell was used as a fireball so that the professor would not find it strange, but the image is not ball-shaped, but bullet-shaped. And to raise the temperature, I think of a white, shining flame.

In about twenty seconds a dazzling flaming shell appears over his right hand raised.

And when the shells were finished, they released the shells with the image of adding spins.

At an explosive acceleration, the shells fly straight and clash against the professor's built wall. At that moment, it explodes just like the professor's hellfire lance, but it was still weak, or it just stripped some of the walls.

(Again, the difference in the absolute amount of magic power is huge. The image should be pretty good. I was remembering the material footage of the war or something, and the shells imagine the armored rounds in the slow transmission tube, so I guess they simply don't have enough penetration capability...)

When I was disappointed, Professor Raspade was clapping his hands and praising me.

"No, really, you're a genius. Reproduce my jailfire spear (Hellfire) with a ball of flame (Fireball). But what did that color and shape imagine?

I was distracted to recreate the magic of the professor, and I showed an image not found in this world.

Reflect that you screwed up, but for now, it's a prerequisite to figure out how to escape this place.

"When I saw the teacher's hellfire, I thought it was impossible to reproduce the same thing. Then I've shortened the length and narrowed it down. The shape is like a thick arrow, so I added rotation like an arrow to stabilize the orbit. The color looked white when it got hottest in the blacksmith's furnace color, so I imagined that..."

"I see," the professor nodded, convinced of my painful explanation. From now on, I carved it into my heart to be careful.

"Now try to shoot whatever magic Miss Jakes likes," the professor ordered Sharon to shoot the magic. Sharon looked a little troubled, and he looked at me,

"Sha, Miss Jakes, what's wrong?

"I tried to imitate the magic of Mr. Lockhart, because I can't imagine it well..."

I said no to the professor and told Sharon my image in a voice that only she could hear.

"With my magic now, I think Firebolt or Flame Bolt is closer than Fireball. I think it would be nice to imagine the crossbow" Ishiyumi "Tai Ya. The color is Beltram - a Dwarf blacksmith in the village of Rasmore - remembering the charcoal that got hot after blowing the fudge in the workshop..."

Sharon nodded at my explanation and unleashed the magic. The spell slightly altered the Flame Arrow spell and appears to be the Flame Arrow (Flame Bolt).

"God of Fire (Ignis), who commands fire. I will not ask for your family, the Spirit's fierce flaming arrow, and I will not give you the power of my life. Scorch my enemies. Flaming Arrow (Flame Bolt)"

Sharon's flaming arrows were smarter than my shells and made the flaming arrows thicker and shorter. The color is closer to orange than mine.

Imagining a crossbow, it flew faster than a flaming arrow (flame arrow) and pierced the professor's stone wall. I just imagined Tai Ya, so it never exploded, but even though it was made of flames, it had enough piercing power to pierce a heat-resistant material called stone.

The professor nodded contentedly at Sharon's magic as well,

"Yeah, yeah, looks like this magic could pierce the knights' armor. It's powerful enough."

After the professor said so, after a glimpse of the fifth-graders,

"Look at the magic of others and immediately increase the power of your own magic. You can't just imitate it. I have to figure it out for myself, like you guys."

The professor nodded again with a satisfied look and said, "Do you have something to ask me?" and looked at me.

I care more about earthly attribute magic than fire attribute magic, and that seemed to be the expression on my face.

"I built an earlier dirt wall and then turned it into a stone wall, but I don't know how."

The professor said, "What is it?," he asks with a pleasant look.

"I can also use the magic of a dirt wall, but I think there's a lot of magic in building something that big. And that speed. Isn't it hard to turn all that volume of soil into stone, even with considerable magic, when stone production (stone creation) is the same? It seemed to me that the teacher was doing something special, but I can't figure it out."

The question I had was that I was working on something to build a stone wall. No matter how high the mage, in absolute quantity of Magic Power (MP), it is impossible in my way to build a stone wall that size. Perhaps it has the racial trait of an elf, but I can quantify and see my magic power, so even a leading magician expects to have only about four or five times as much magic (MP) as I do precisely.

The professor didn't break his funny expression and said, "Aren't you thinking of some hypothesis? I've heard."

Though I think about reasoning at first, there are many things I can't explain. But the professor wasn't going to tell me honestly that I wouldn't answer, so he showed off some of the missing reasoning.

"There are a lot of parts I don't know yet, but I'm thinking about it for once. It takes a lot of magic to create matter with magic. However, if it is a phenomenon, you can consume less magic. Perhaps the soil walls are earth-using objects on the ground, but then there will be traces of soil erosion on the ground. From what I've seen, there's no trace of the surrounding soil, so I don't know what happened to the teacher."

"Mm-hmm. Good focus. Almost enough to say you're right. So, what about stone generation?

"I think stone production is a similar way...... stone production is a magic that solidifies the soil and creates stones in the first place. Unlike earlier walls of dirt, they just change their nature, so I think there's some way, but I have no idea this one."

When I said that, the professor asked Sharon, "What do you think of Miss Jakes?" "I don't know," Sharon replied in a small voice, shaking her pull and neck to the side.

The professor takes us to the burnt stone wall.

"Mr. Lockhart, try to make stones too."

As they say, I made a small stone of ground soil in the ingredients and offered it to the professor.

The professor received it and picked up the stone he had made, which had fallen nearby.

"Take a good look. I think you'll soon realize the difference."

My stones are like sandstone hardened sandstone, and when they hit each other, they crumble easily for the price. However, the stones made by the professor are made of cement-like sand and some fine matter when viewed well.

I said, "Is it lacquered?," he muttered.

"You're right. I was right to imagine something like lacquer. A common way to turn soil into stone is to tighten and solidify the soil, but I use a clotting image."

I asked if I would create a coagulant-like substance and consume more magic.

"Not necessarily. I compared the magic to turn the soil into stone and the magic to create matter to coagulate, which is greater. And the most efficient thing was to combine the image to coagulate with the image to push and consolidate. It should simply be done with less than a tenth of the magic of an image that pushes and solidifies the earth."

I was so impressed.

Surely if there were a large percentage of coagulants, like cement, it would consume a lot of magic. But if you imagine just using something like adhesive for a small amount of aid, you shouldn't consume so much magic. Nevertheless, if stone walls can be built with a tenth of the magic of today, it is possible enough to build castle walls.

I tried to create a stone with the image the professor said.

It didn't even go as far as a tenth, but the amount of magic consumed was reduced to a few.

"That's amazing. But why isn't this magic common?

The professor laughed out couscous, as he said he had heard an interesting story.

"You're really funny. You and I, the chosen ones like Miss Jakes, will remember, but this image is hard to grasp for the average person. Of course, I wrote something similar in the magic guide to earthly attributes, but the general image is that the stone is something that the soil has solidified, or that the soil is something that the stone has crushed. I can't reproduce that stereotype as easily as you can unless it falls out."

Certainly stereotypes are something that cannot be dispelled inside. I often think so myself, but when it comes to magic, you should see Liddy.

Liddy is a magical user of wind attributes, but I don't like swallow-winged blades (swallow cutters), which Sharon and I are good at. Even though I'm good at whirlwind blades (wind slashes), they just become sword-shaped and lose their power. I've practiced quite a bit and I can even guide you, but still I can't control you as fine as me or Sharon.

Ask and see why, stereotypes are exactly in the way. It seems difficult for her to imitate creatures by magic. Liddy can also magically imitate tools easily. I guess this is because she assumes the concept that magic is a weapon and a tool.

In that regard, Sharon doesn't have that stereotype because she sees my magic at a young age. Even the magic of my perch effect was easy to reproduce.

I asked the first question again about how I created the dirt wall.

"I mean the dirt wall earlier, can we do this if we eliminate stereotypes in the same way?

"Uhm. It's not that hard... it's a corner, so let's make this homework. Mr. Lockhart, make sure you put your thoughts together by the next lecture. By the way, this is also in my book, but don't ask Professor Elbain - Liddy's old friend, Kitty Elbain - about the book."

He then used a degree of magic that would not run out of magic and took the advice of a professor.

Dispose of the stone walls made by the professor at the end.

"This is an earlier application. Imagine breaking down the material to coagulate…"

With that said, put your hands on the stone wall and cast a spell of sand generation (sandcreature). Then a strong stone wall turned into further sand, like a mountain made in a sandbox.

"Well, I can easily collapse what I made myself, but the natural stones are a little harder,"

I almost asked if it was like that, but the magic of turning stones into sand is more useful than I thought.

You can dig tunnels in rocky mountains, and if you can partially convert them, you can use them to process stone. Further removal of the metal from the ore of the metal or conversion of large stones into soil when opening agricultural land would considerably reduce the hassle of opening it.

When I tell the professor about it,

"You are really funny. How do I grow up? I'm completely out of interest."

That's what I said and I was laughing.
