Dream Life - Life in the Other World of Dreams
Episode 46: Quentin's Urgency
3: 30 p.m. Oct. 6.
When I finished Professor Lionel Raspade's lecture and tried to make my way home, my classmate Quentin Worgman and another male student whose name didn't come up were waiting at the school gate.
I was a little voice, and when I asked Sharon what the name of the boy student was, he told me, "It's Mr. Elliot Wentworth," Sharon really has a good memory.
Quentin smiled and spoke to me.
"Mr. Lockhart, Miss Jakes, if you have time, I wonder if you could hang out with me."
I have no business, but Sharon has chores waiting for me. Even though it's a safe old town, it's unforgivable to leave Sharon alone. Of course, if magic can be used against human opponents, Sharon has the strength to beat those adventurers there.
"I don't have much time, but I think I can take half an hour."
In response, Quentin said, "I want to hear about Dr. Raspade's class. We want to take a teacher's class, too," he said. Elliot Wentworth, next door, is also snorting loudly.
I don't know anything about a boy named Elliot, but he must have been fifth in the seat order.
(Even Sharon will finally be able to follow how it feels today. I guess these two will never be able to do it. But I can't say that. Well, I don't think the teacher will coach these two, so he'll give me the coaching directly...)
And I thought, "Okay. Where do we talk?," said Quentin, pointing to a bench in the school yard.
Sitting on the bench, he said, "What do you want to hear? When I said," Elliot started talking in momentum.
"What did seating do? Any practical moves? Rumor has it that Dr. Raspade used high-ranking fire attribute magic, is that true? ……
Seems like the type that doesn't suppress you, and you start asking endless questions about what you want to know.
I said, "Wait a minute. You won't be able to talk at the top," he says, "Well, talk to me soon," which swells.
I thought I was an impatient kid, but I started talking patiently.
"I'll tell you first, it's my first day, so I don't know if today's story is the same as up ahead. It's a classroom, but I didn't have a title for it..."
Quentin is serious, and Elliot still listens on the swell.
"... it's a practical technique, but the spear of prison flames (Hellfire) that the teacher did use, but it was amazing magic. The senior students were surprised even by the teacher."
Quentin said, "Did you show your magic to your teachers?," so to be honest, he replied, "I'm the fireball, Miss Jakes. My teacher saw the magic close to Flame Arrow".
Elliot was whining, "If it's okay with a fireball, it should be fine with my whirlwind blade (wind slash)," but I ignore it and move on.
"I think this is what happened today because the teacher said he wanted to see our magic. Maybe, but you've made sure of how strong we are. So I guess next time it's gonna be a different class."
Quentin nodded at it and was whining about something. Next door Elliot said, "All right, Dr. Bennett - the Alic Bennett teacher in charge - will ask for it," and ran out toward the school building.
When I wondered if Quentin was going after him too, I shook my head small and asked him even more with a serious look: "What did you talk to Dr. Raspade about?"
I let him be honest with me about the power of the Spirit and the importance of the image. Then Quentin dropped his shoulder,
"It still seems impossible to me. If I don't catch up with your level, I can't coach my teacher..."
I was surprised what he said. If I was more confident and we could take teacher classes, naturally I thought I had that right too.
When I said, "If that's all we're talking about, we're going home," I said, "I need a favor from Mr. Lockhart," and I bowed my head.
I was surprised that he was so arrogant until the other day that he had bowed his head, even though he had reconciled. He doesn't care about my expression.
"You're in the woods hunting demons, aren't you? Will you take me with you?"
I thought this story would come out someday. But the day after I went to Congressman Worgman, I didn't expect that story to come out.
I was a little surprised, but my answer was settled.
"Unfortunately, I can't take you. I didn't see your prowess, but at least you don't have any real combat experience, do you? The North Forest is relatively close to the city, but it's a dangerous place for real adventurers to lose their lives. If you go into the woods without real experience, you can't guarantee your life."
Quentin still eats down, says, "I really want to get to the level," and lowers his head even further.
"Then you should talk to your father. Senator Worgman says he's a brilliant magician, and if you're busy, you can ask him to hire a brilliant mercenary to escort you. Sorry, but we can't guarantee your safety."
You felt like you didn't have an island to attach to me, and Quentin drops his shoulder disappointingly.
"I don't know what it's like to be in a hurry. But even someone about a wild dog is in danger of losing his life. Don't go into the woods alone if you're wrong."
When I said that, I just answered, "I know," and walked away from us.
I had a bad feeling about it. I was wondering if he would go into the woods alone.
It may not be tomorrow today, but I was wondering if I would someday be forced to be strong. That's right. It was too much.
I thought I should tell Senator Worgman about it and headed to Alliance headquarters.
It could have been the senator's private residence, but with Quentin, it would have been awkward to give a note to a servant. That's what I thought and decided to head to Alliance headquarters.
I'm headed to Alliance headquarters, but I wasn't going to see you today. Even if this one wants to, I don't think busy senators have that time. So I was going to give you a note.
I take my notebook out of my bag and write it down. The content was that Quentin said he wanted to go into the woods, that he seemed anxious to raise the level.
To give you a note, I tried to find out if there were any officials the other day, but today's receptionist was a young male employee I didn't know about.
Still, I spoke to the male staff at the reception because I would just give them a note, and I had an important story to tell them about Senator Worgman's son, and I handed them a note that said I wanted them to give me this note.
The male employee said, "Okay. Because I'll be sure to give it to you later," he said, smiling and receiving a note.
I thought I'd be fine with this, but the incident happened the next day off.
We were supposed to take Professor Raspade's class every other day. However, in the busy months of December and May, free time is the only available time.
He took his first class on October 6th and was scheduled to take his next class on the 8th of the following day, but cancelled at the convenience of the professor. For this reason, me and Sharon were in the woods with the Liddies every day from the 7th to the 9th. In those three days we were up to grade eight.
And on the college holiday, October 10th, it happened.
We were going into the woods today, but we stopped hunting demons that day because we had been in the woods for three days and the weather was about to collapse.
I trained at the guild training ground with Beatrice, and Sharon said for the first time in a long time that I could do chores in the morning, I was putting my mind to work at home. Only Liddy relaxed at home as usual.
After 3: 00 p.m., we finished our training for the day.
Beatrice was also scheduled to dine with us today, and she was looking forward to her bath and meal.
It's been a wrapping depressing rain, but Senator Wargman's butler called out to me as I was about to leave the training area in a soothing way while talking about training with her and all that.
"Mr. Lockhart, did you not see Master Quentin?
When I say I didn't see him, he drops his shoulder disappointingly.
When I heard what was going on, I didn't see Quentin in the morning and he didn't even show up at lunchtime. I was worried, I was looking for a friend's house, but I wasn't in the old town. She heard more about you going into the woods with me.
I heard the story and hurried to our house, but I didn't go to the woods and I was in the training ground, so I wanted to come here.
In the senator's house, he, Cedric Stewart, was parched with the feeling of being a butler, but now he was haunted and felt things were quite serious.
I said, "Did the senator know about this?" He asked, "I've been on a business trip since yesterday and I was only talking about going back tomorrow night.
I was uncomfortable with the fact that the senator didn't hit anything on my note, but I checked with Stewart that it wasn't the time.
"To what extent are you searching? Didn't you know what your classmates said they were going into the woods with me?"
Stewart shook his neck sideways,
"We haven't had a full search yet. I thought we could make a fuss about the prank... Your friend said that Mr. Lockhart might be going where he's hunting demons."
I never told Quentin about the monster hunt and tilt my neck that I wouldn't know where it was.
(I guess the only place you can think of is where you chased me and headed north from home. Nevertheless, if I had gone to the house, there would have been Sharon or Liddy. You didn't speak up?
I gave Stewart instructions.
"Please organize a search party. You can make an urgent request to the Adventurer Alliance for anything. I'm going into the woods now."
Beatrice next door also feels awkward, "It'll be dark soon. I'll come with you," he said.
Tell Stewart again, "If, Quentin, you come back, contact the house immediately. Because I will leave Miss Jakes behind," he called out and ran home with Beatrice.
Get to the house and brief Liddy and Sharon immediately on the situation.
Initially, Liddy, who hates Quentin, had a passive attitude, but when I boiled down the business, when Beatrice and I said we were going alone, I suddenly said we were going and started getting ready.
I'm willing to go, too, to Sharon.
"A man named Stewart from Mr. Worgman's house might be able to get in touch. That's why Sharon wants you to stay here."
Sharon reminds you that night's eye doesn't work, reluctantly gives up.
Me and Liddy are in a hurry to get ready, but Beatrice asked me how I was going to look in the woods.
"In the meantime, I'll go up north from here and look around the nearby field. It's sunset in about two hours, so I'm gonna be back there."
Beatrice was worried about me.
"Then you stay here. It's too dangerous in people whose eyes don't work at night. You can go find me and Lydiane."
"I'm fine. My eyes are good. Don't worry about me, I can see it in the dark."
Beatrice roughs up her voice, "It's not if you're joking," but Liddy comes back and
"Zach would be fine. Because it's as strong in the dark as I am. Let's go faster than that."
Beatrice sees us with a surprised face, but she doesn't even look like she's joking, so she admits reluctantly that I'm going.
