Eagle of the Valley of Ice and Fire

Chapter 86 King in Trouble

The whip rose and fell, the hoofs rose and fell, and the dust raised covered the blue sky.

The valley cavalry galloped along the King's Road. Weimar looked ahead solemnly, his horse galloping forward.

We're not far from King's Landing, Weimar thought to himself.

The crescent falcon flag flew, and the Vale Cavalry galloped down the King's Road like a blue whirlwind.

At the top of the city of King's Landing, Count Revrey Lake of Duskendale stood in front of the battlements. On the city wall, rows of archers were neatly dressed, nervously looking at the thick gray rising in the distance.

"River Knight." Count Revrey bit his lower lip with his upper teeth and narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Robert?" Ed felt a whirlpool in his mind, and he felt dizzy.

"I'm sorry, Duke Stark and Prince Joffrey have been crowned by the Archbishop in the cathedral and become the new king." Varys looked at Ed with a sad face.

"Absolutely impossible," Ed shook his head. "Robert often fights wild boars alone. Even if the wild boar is as strong as an ox in the Moon Mountains, Robert can even kill it with a warhammer. How could it be possible?"

"Wine, the king drank too much. I'm sorry. I have been protecting the king, but I failed to protect him at this time." Wallis said, shaking his head.

"The golden robe, the Red Castle? Who are these people who want to surround and kill me? Who planned the action? Was the king murdered by them?" Ed approached Varys, with fierceness and determination in his eyes.

Varys took a few steps back and said, "Duke Stark, there is no need to be so nervous."

The eight-clawed spider hid his hands in his long sleeves and lowered his voice as low as possible, "Duke Stark, your daughter."

"Sansa!" said Eddard. "Where is she?"

"You are too nervous," Varys stepped back again helplessly. "Your daughter Sansa is in the hands of Queen Cersei. She wants you to plead guilty, Duke Stark, former Prime Minister."

"What crime? Former Prime Minister?" Ed did not understand the information revealed by the Octopus Spider. Everything seemed to have happened without his knowledge.

"Prince Joffrey was crowned king and appointed Lord Tywin of the West as Hand of the King." Varys looked at Ed and shook his head. "The strange thing is that Queen Cersei believes that you, the Prime Minister, are guilty. She believes that you murdered someone. The king even wants to take over King's Landing and control Prince Joffrey."

Ed almost laughed when he heard this, "Absurd, simply ridiculous." He turned around, his upper and lower teeth pressed together tightly.

"Unfortunately, she has your daughter and she wants you to plead guilty," Wallis said.

"Then you," Ed looked at Varys, "since you can come in, you can also take me out of King's Landing." Ed held the sword in his hand tightly.

"I am always with you, Prime Minister Duke Eddard." Varys seemed not to have seen Eddard's long sword. "No matter how ridiculous the queen's accusation sounds, the lords of the royal realm obviously believed it. Thousands of kings led the army. When we entered King's Landing, the Red Keep was completely surrounded and only a few people could enter or leave."

"Then why are you here?" Ed sneered, and he looked at Varys, "Just to prevent me from being kept in the dark?"

"For the sake of the kingdom, Lord Stark," Varys said, "King Robert is dead, the war in the Riverlands will not stop, Stannis's Dragonstone fleet is eyeing the king's arrival, Renly has gone to Highgarden, and is summoning the Southland. With hundreds of thousands of troops from the Stormlands, the peace of the Seven Kingdoms is at stake.”

"I don't believe eunuchs care about honor." Ed stared at Varys, who was always wary of the eight-clawed spider.

"I will protect your safety for the sake of the peace of the kingdom. If this news reaches the north, I believe your heir will make any choice." Varys put on his cloak and looked at Ed.

Ed was silent for a moment. Robb was still underage, but the blood of the running wolves of the Stark family would only make the Lord of Winterfell make one choice.

"Robb, your son will gather his vassals and go south to fight," Varys said. "What is the reason? Prince Joffrey is too young, Queen Cersei may just lose her husband and punch him hysterically, and now," Varys looked at Eddard solemnly, "Both Stannis and Renly are showing signs of becoming kings. How will the North deal with itself then?"

"So," Eddard shook his head. He didn't believe what the Octopus Spider said. "You want me to admit it." Eddard stopped talking. He thought of Sansa.

"I don't want you to plead guilty, Lord Stark," Varys sighed slightly, "I hope I can rescue you and leave King's Landing."

"What about my soldiers, and Sansa?" Eddard disagreed.

Varys smiled, "Duke Eddard, you must know one thing. As long as you leave King's Landing safely, the entire route from King's Landing to Winterfell will be under the control of Duke Attis Arryn, with the support of the Vale. Lord Tywin is so sensible and will definitely return Miss Sansa to the North intact. As long as your soldiers hold on to the Red Keep for a while, they can safely leave the city as the bodyguards of the former Prime Minister."

"After all, your attempt to murder the king is an unreasonable assertion by the insane queen, and Stannis and Renly are the biggest threats to the Iron Throne." Varys spread his hands and backed away slowly, "You can stop the war, Lord Ed, I have always respected people who value honor, especially you. Maybe you don’t want my respect, but that doesn’t matter.”

Varys looked at Ed who was still hesitating, "I'm waiting for your news, Duke Stark. If you don't believe me, I will also remind you that Cersei will soon use your daughter as a threat to let You give up the Red Keep, don’t agree, don’t agree, Cersei doesn’t dare to hurt your daughter, please believe me.”

Edard watched Varys fall into darkness, and he hurried to catch up, but Varys disappeared at the corner.

The only sound in the corridor was Eddard's panting.

The port of King's Landing was rarely blocked, and no ships stopped. All the gates of King's Landing were closed. Even the octopus spider could not bring people in and out. This was an isolated city, a blocked isolated city.

Sansa rubbed her hands and watched Joffrey put on the crown, and he seemed to look at her very gently in his eyes.

This was the moment she had dreamed of, but now she was disturbed by the accusation of Queen Cersei.

"What are you afraid of, my lady." Joffrey asked close to her ear.

"I am." Sansa said timidly, "I am worried about my father, Joffrey, this must be a misunderstanding, please let him go."

Joffrey's eyes revealed a trace of cruelty, and he turned around.

"My lady, I tell you the truth," Joffrey said to her, "The damn Vale people have already challenged their king at the gate of King's Landing, threatening my mother, the Queen Mother of the Kingdom. They claim to be in alliance with your father. How can I let your father go?"

"No," Sansa hugged Joffrey's arm, "The Vale people and my father have never been in alliance. The Vale may be traitors, but my father could not have murdered the king. I heard that the king was..."

"Enough!" Joffrey roared, "My father is the greatest warrior in the Seven Kingdoms. How could he be killed by a wild boar? It must be a conspiracy!"

Sansa looked at Joffrey in despair. She knew nothing and didn't know how to refute it. She didn't believe that her father was a traitor.

"Unless," Cersei's voice, Sansa turned her head and looked over, "My poor girl, you can save your father. There is only one way, persuade him to come out, confess and surrender. This is the only way to save your father, Sansa."

"My father is not guilty." Sansa looked at Cersei helplessly with tears in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry, my Sansa, that you have to do this," Cersei said to Sansa.
