ELENA

My phone started ringing, I looked down at the screen and realized it was Lau. He had asked me for my number. He wanted to contact us to notified us of their arrival at the hotel.

‘Lau? He’s actually called like he said he would,’ I thought smiling. ‘Oh my gosh, why am I happy? He’s not even my boyfriend,’ I bit my lower lip.

“Answer,” Ruby spoke disturbing my thoughts.

I answered the call and lifted the phone to my ear and said to say my name.

“Elena?” Lau questioned almost with a hint of timidness.

“Lau, where are you, guys?” I asked and a smile appeared on my cherry red lips.

“We’re almost there, Elena….” he replied without finishing his sentence.

ZT had stolen the phone from his hand and added, “And we look handsome, we can’t wait to see you, girls” and laughed as Sei grabbed the phone.

“A-Yah, ZT give back my phone!” Lau yelled beside Donny Li who drove the car.

I laughed at their ruckus in the background and responded, “Oh okay, ZT” and thought, ‘What a noisy bunch?”

She caught Aya’s attention immediately as she shouted smiling, “ZT, Gege!”

I ignored her as Sei interrupted.

“Elena, it’s me, Sei. Donny Li won’t be able to make it,” he lied jokingly.

While Donny Li and Lau looked at him in surprise before laughing silently.

“Why?” I asked curiously.

Sei passed the phone back to Lau, “Hold on, Elena. Here.”

“Sei, Sei!” Elena called out strangely.

Ruby wondered, “What’s going with them? It was Lau and then ZT. Now, it’s Sei. What’s happening on that phone, Elena?”

She took it and blurted out, “Sei?”

“No, it’s Lau. Where’s Elena?” He asked.

Ruby rolled her eyes and said, “It’s Lau, again” and gave me back the phone.

“Yes, Lau,” I blushed.

“Like I was saying before I was rudely cut off by idiots…” he paused.

“Hey!” ZT andSei whined.

He continued, “We have arrived, we’ll see you girls in the lobby.”

I smiled sensing the confidence in his voice.

“Yeah!” I exclaimed excitedly.

SHANI

Elena told us everything the guys said. We found their childish behavior hilarious. We double-checked our belongings to see if we had anything missing and then we exited my hotel room. I locked the door behind us and we ran in our heels into the opened elevated. Aya pressed ground floor after three minutes we arrived in the lobby. The girls and I walked out as the elevator doors opened. We saw four familiar, handsome guys well-dressed like they came from a vintage-wine commercial-shoot. In the causal black leather, hoodie, coat, white t-shirts tucked in jeans with comfortable converse shoes, Donny Li, Sei, Lau, and ZT approached us as their mouths flung open in shock. We laughed at their dumbstruck expressions.

“Is something wrong, boys?” Ruby asked as Sei, ZT, Lau, and Donny blushed like babies.

“What? No, you all look amazing,” Sei answered.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her body towards his chest as he flirted, “Especially you, Ruby.”

She smiled poking his cheeks with her fingertips and laughed, “Thanks, Sei.”

ZT couldn’t move his gaze away from Aya. He scanned her from head to toe; absolutely satisfied with her choice of style.

“So…are you going to be my escort?” Ruby teased him before she grinned.

“Yeah,” ZT responded quickly and put his arm around her shoulders keeping her close to his side walking off.

Lau smiled at Elena, who blushed.

“Elena, you’re my partner come here,” he clapped his hands before he opened his arms wide for her enter like she was his puppy.

‘Is he out of his mind?’ I thought while looking at them.

I could see that Elena wanted to slap his hand away as she raised her eyebrow at him.

“Are you serious, Lau?” She asked frowning.

Lau didn’t mean it that way as he grabbed her wrist. “I’m just happy to see you, Elena,” he admitted, his face pure as an angel.

“Me too,” Elena blushed and look away as she held his hand swaying it back and forth as they exit the hotel.

Suddenly, I found Donny Li staring at me. He was checking out my curves in my outfit. He noticed that caught him in the act and faced another direction. ‘Why is that clown here? He sickens me,’ I thought rolling my eyes and headed off exiting the hotel’s entrance, the double-glassed doors.

‘She always likes this,’ Donny Li thought. ‘At least she dresses nice,’ he smirked watching her hipline and bottom move with the rhythm of her walk.

We boarded the guys’ car, obviously, not in enough in the backseat.

“Are you expecting us to squeeze together?” I asked frowning.

Donny Li rolled his eyes, “Don’t make things a problem, Shani.”

“You can clearly see that there is not enough room for us, Donny,” Shani pointed out at the car.

“You’ll just have to sit on us!” Donny Li yelled in suggestion.

Their manager, Bin pulled over at the entrance with a black van.

“Bin?” ZT questioned.

“I knew this would cause a problem so I called, Bin, to drive us to the club,” Lau interrupted.

“Good thinking, bro,” Sei added patting his back as Lau smiled.

“Thanks, Lau,” I spoke loudly with a smug look on my face, alongside Elena, Aya, and Ruby.

Donny Li didn’t say a word anymore as he glared at me.

I ignored him and overheard Ruby gave their manager, Bin Neon Light’s address. He nodded, we boarded the van and left the hotel. Apparently, luck wasn’t on my side. I sat in the backseat beside the window next to Donny Li. I felt a cold chill between us. However, Aya started playing a guessing game with ZT, they looked adorable together. Lau and Elena were indulged in a food conversation while munching on junk foods. Ruby couldn’t help herself anymore, quietly snuggling and cuddling with Sei, who didn’t seem to mind it at all. Meanwhile, I’m being ignored by Donny, who has his earphones plugged in. He was listening to a playlist on his phone. I pocketed out my phone and decided to play, Candy Crush. I realized we were stuck in traffic. I stretched myself a little and cracked my fingers before yawning. I regretted wearing this outfit, I felt extremely cold.

“I should have worn my black skinny jeans,” I thought aloud.

I rubbed my thighs trying to keep it warm. Out of the blue, Donny Li placed his leather jacket over my thighs.

“Here,” he muttered watching me.

“Thank you,” I answered shyly.

“Don’t worry about it,” Donny Li smiled.

I caught off guard by his sudden reaction. Surprisingly, I never thought I would see this caring side of him. His actions kind of melted the ice around my heart. He went back to listening to his music. Cheekily, I pulled out an earphone from his left ear as he faced me and he grabbed my hand.

“What are you doing, Shani?” He asked calmly.

My mouth parted in shock, I gulped before glancing at my game and replied, “I was wondering if you can help me beat this level. I’m still stuck on level eight on Candy Crush.”

He smirked, “Seriously?”

He took my phone and started playing the game and advancing to another level.

“I don’t believe this,” I frowned.

“Because I’m the one playing it and some amateur like you,” Donny teased.

“Hey! At least I got to level eight,” I defended myself.

“I’m on level twenty-one now,” he laughed showing-off his score.

I rolled my eyes and then grinned, “That’s just dumb luck, you know.”

“Says Miss Level Eight,” Donny joked and played like a professional e-sport victor.

I had to admit, he was amazing. Matching out the candies and clearing out the slots going to level thirty in two minutes it was insane. I looked down at his earphone in my hand and plugged it in my ear. I was so shocked that he was listening to INSANE’s Moonlight.

‘Moonlight?’ I thought observing his handsome features and blushed a little.

He didn’t realize I was a little closer to the side of his face as I began to sing the lyrics of one of my favorite songs.

“I’ve never seen before an expression so captivating. I’m frozen into a picture at the end of the light of my sight. You stay there shining forever.”

Donny Li paused and faced me our lips were inches apart as he continued to the next stanza in the song.

“You who I can’t touch, who I can’t pull into my arms I miss you. Even if I close my eyes I can’t dream because you’re the only one I see, love.”

I blushed singing along.

“I don’t know how to finish writing your story. The closer I get to you, the more painful it seems. I can’t love you ’cause you’re so far away from me.”

A teardrop streamed down my left cheek and then stopped. Donny Li caressed my cheek with his hand and wiped my tear away with his thumb. There was so much affectation in his hazel eyes as we sang together.

“Love is hard to resist, why don’t you stop for a while? I, I, yeah.

Love is hard to resist, why don’t you stop for a while? I, I, yeah.

Anxiously, calling out your name. Your wings soaked in the moonlight.

I’m afraid the light in my ears won’t let me see you fly.”

We noticed that the others were watching us like we were a drama. I blushed only focused on Donny Li. He made my heart and mind swell with joy.

“Every-time I remember, I told you, I wish I could stay by your side forever.

I regret and solemnly swear I’ll find you again in the moonlight.

If you’re already tired lay in my heart and rest as long as you want.

I’ll keep you safe away from the dangers of darkness, my love.

We’ll bathe under the moonlight that shines like stars in the sky.”

Suddenly, I hadn’t noticed the full moon appeared in the night as we gazed upon each other singing the song in unison, lost in our universe of feelings.

“There we’ll shine together and hug the morning sun when it rises in the day.”

We sang the chorus again, overheard the others joined smiling at us.

Manager Bin, shipped us, although, he was slightly jealous before he announced, “We’re finally here, people!”

He parked the van, Donny Li poked my cheek.

“Never thought you were a fan of my solo single?” He smirked.

“You wrote that song? You don’t like the romantic type, Donny,” I teased.

“You’ll be surprised to see what you find out about me,” Donny flirted.

“Yeah…” I blushed rolling my eyes in disbelief.

He shook his hand and smiled before heading out the door, I followed as everyone else exited the van.

“What was that about, Shani?” Ruby asked teasingly.

“Karaoke with Donny Li?” Aya laughed.

“You were unbelievably good,” Elena added.

“It was nothing. We just both like the song, okay,” I answered.

I found Donny Li turning back, looking at me smiling. ‘Oh my gosh, that smile could kill a bird. I can’t like Donny Li, right? However, I’m left speechless at what happened a while ago…’ I thought and averted my eyes to the girls.

“We that look, Shani,” Aya pointed out.

“Donny likes you,” Ruby muttered.

“No, he doesn’t, Ruby. You’re seeing things,” I answered.

ZT, Lau, and Sei entered the club except for Donny. He approached me.

“Shani,” he called out.

“What?” I asked.

Elena smirked, “Ooh…..” and walked away with the girls to meet the guys.

“Stop it, Elena,” I blushed and faced him now. “What’s on your mind, mister?” I asked.

He smothered and grinned, “I don’t know you tell me.”

“I’m not playing this game with you, Donny Li,” I frowned trying to coverup my smile.

“Why not? Cause you like me,” he smirked.

My cheeks and ears began turning red like tomato chilly sauce. I bit my lower lip and glared.

“I do not. Don’t make up such lies for your pleasure,” I replied.

“You are my pleasure,” Donny Li flirted.

I blushed as we overheard Aya’s voice.

“Shani! Donny! Aren’t you guys coming? It looks like it’s about to rain!” She yelled from the club’s entrance.

We noticed the gray clouds and hurried inside Neon Lights. I spotted some of my university classmates mingling with Elena, Ruby, and the guys. Ruby was the star of the show tonight since it was her get-together reunion party. Security escorted us to the V.I.P lounge. As soon as we entered I couldn’t believe my eyes, I strumbled across my recent ex-boyfriend, Hoi Li, and his wife, Yiyi. He paused when he saw me and smirked. I rolled my eyes at him and grabbed Donny Li’s hand storming off to the bar for a drink.

‘What is that A-Hole doing here? Why didn’t Ruby tell me?’ I thought absolutely, outrage by his sudden appearance.

“Shani, what’s wrong?” Donny Li asked, catching a glimpse of the idiot that pissed off his angel.

The bartender, Hong Yu asked, “What can I get you, Miss?”

I was about to speak but Donny Li made his order.

“Give us two martinis and a glass of water for my friend here,” he winked at me.

“Okay,” Hong Yu answered before pouring their drinks and serving it.

I laughed, “Really, Donny?”

“As long as I see you smile that’s all that matters, right?” Donny Li replied.

I nodded, “Yeah.”

“Who was that guy, Shani?” He asked looking at me curiously.

Before I answer, I drank both martinis and sighed, “My ex-boyfriend. Ruby didn’t tell me he would here with his wife, Yiyi.”

Suddenly, the jerk, Hoi Li showed up at the bar greeting me with Yiyi at his side. His arm around her waist, all I remembered was that cost me my job at Elle Magazine. I had to start from scratch until I become a world-class fashion designer. I earned my confidence and respect back in the fashion and commercial industries. Donny Li waited to see my reaction as amusingly watched the drama.

“Shani! Long time no see, how are you doing?” Hoi Li asked.

Yiyi spoke, “Honey, are you going to introduce us?”

“Oh, this is my wife, Yiyi, Shani,” Hoi Li said and kissed her cheek.

“Oh, stop it, darling,” Yiyi blushed and patted his shoulder lightly.

A forced smile on my face, trying to be cool-headed I chuckled. ‘Monkey sees, monkey do. They are both annoying headaches right now,’ I thought.

Donny Li studied Hoi Li and frowned in thought, ‘What the heck did Shani saw in this punk? He’s nothing but a scam. Thank God, they broke up. At least I have a chance with her.’

“It’s alright, nice to meet you,” I answered.

“Who’s this handsome fellow?” Yiyi eyed flirtatiously at Donny Li’s chiseled features; he looked like a sexy Greek God and she loved it.

Hoi Lu started getting jealous and rolled his eyes, “Your friend, Shani?”

“No. Her fiance. Is there a problem, Hoi Li and Miss Yiyi?” Donny Li answered quickly.

Yiyi blushed in front of her husband in awe, immediately, Hoi Li got annoyed by Donny Li’s seductive charms.

“No, not at all,” she smiled winking at him as Hoi Li jealousy devoured his face.

I covered my laugh with a smirk and thought, ‘In your face, Hoi Li.’

“Anyways, we’ll see you later,” Donny smirked and held my hand in his, walking off.

Somewhere, we ended up on the dance floor in bliss. I totally forgot that I despised Donny Li and flirted with him, drinking all night long.

“Shani, stop drinking!” Donny Li yelled.

“No! I love my life and I love you, Donny Li!” I answered drunkenly and kissed his lips.

‘No way, this isn’t happening, right?’ Donny Li thought staring down at Shani kissing him.

Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer and deepening their kiss. Without a clue, he reacted by kissing her back and forgot everything else in the room as he landed in the daydream.

DONNY LI

I realized stood before the ocean my hand stretch out. I felt sad and broken.

“Why do I feel this way?” I asked myself.

“Donny Li!” a familiar voice called out my name.

Turning around, I saw Shani wearing a yellow and white poker-dot swimsuit. Her hair accessorized with a yellow bow tiara. She looked really cute. She reminded me of those summer field sunflower glowing in the sunlight. Shani ran towards me holding onto a soccer ball.

“Shani? You’re back?” My voice cracked, tears flow down my cheeks.

“You silly, I never went away. Let’s play,” she smiled with a chuckled.

I pulled her into an embrace and nodded, “Okay.”

“What’s wrong with you, Donny? Let go of me, you pervert!” Shani teased.

I released her as she grinned at me as I joked, “At least I’m your pervert.”

“I knew it,” she laughed. “First one who scores get a wish.”

“I like the sound of that,” I smirked. ‘I wish I could love you forever,’ I thought.

We started playing soccer. Shani was quite good at stealing the ball from me. No hesitation in her soul, she kicked it past my space screaming.

“Goal! Yeah, baby! I’m awesome, Donny!” She said.

I watched her danced funnily. She was like a little kid having a sugar rush. She jumped up and down for joy.

“I’ll show you what I’m made of,” I challenged.

“I would like to see you try,” Shani dared to smirk.

I dribbled the ball with my feet and made a quick goal.

“What?” Shani pouted glaring at me.

“Shani, who’s laughing now?” I laughed watching her furrowed her eyebrows.

“Alright, alright! You got game, Donny. The final score determines the winner and who gets treated to lunch,” Shani declared.

“Looking forward to beating you, baby girl,” I teased.

She rolled her eyes, “Whatever, let’s do this.”

I didn’t care about the game anymore and walked up to her.

“Donny….what are you doing?” Shani asked stepping back about to fall.

I swiftly reacted and caught her in my arms, “I won’t let you fall, Shani.”

Instantly, I kissed her until I was slapped on the head back to reality. I swore I got a headache at that very moment.

“Donny, get off me…..” Shani pushed me away and vomited on my shirt.

“No! What the heck, Shani! Really?” I yelled watching her slide down in my arms to the floor. She fell asleep like a baby. I was tempted to kiss her again but on the forehead. I stopped when my phone rang.
