4. Fashion Sense

Watching the intense misunderstanding between Donny Li and Shani was really surprising. The moment Shani walked out of the room, Donny Li’s frustrated expression became saddened. I listened to Aya explained why Shani became like that. As soon as ZT mentioned they meant for each other.

 

Donny Li shouted, “Don’t talk nonsense!” before rushing out.

 

Quickly, I followed after him and realized he had disappeared.

 

“Where did he go?” I asked myself walking down the hall.

 

I overheard a strange noise like someone was punching the wall or something. I looked over my shoulder to the right staircase and there was Donny Li fisting the wall.

 

“Why is that girl so complicated?” He groaned. “She’s not interested me. She has a temper that could kill a vulture. What the heck is wrong with her? She’s not like the typical clingy types that annoy me. There’s something different about her. And, I can’t put my finger on it and it’s pissing me off,” Donny Li said before frowning.

 

“That’s true, Donny,” I interrupted as he jumped a little.

 

“What the? Oh, it’s you, Lau,” he sighed.

 

“Did think I was the boogieman?” I teased laughing.

 

“No, where are the others?” Donny Li asked.

 

“Probably still in the costume room. I left them to check on you, bro,” I spoke.

 

“You didn’t have to, you know,” he smirked sounding grateful a bit.

 

“Yeah, but Donny do you like Shani? Be honest with me,” I asked raising an eyebrow at him.

 

He looked away blushing, staring at his shoes, and lied, “Huh? No. Why do you ask?”

 

“Cause it’s obvious, Donny,” I answered.

 

He stayed quiet for a while in deep thought. ‘I can’t like her? Right?’ He thought.

 

I decided to add more evidence to my facts.

 

“Look at you, you’re blushing. All the words you can’t admit are written on your face, bro. You’re in love with Shani,” I pointed out leaning against the wall in a pose: folded arms and crossed legs with my “Don’t deny it,” face.

 

Donny Li grabbed a thick lock of hair with his hands and ruffled it. He released a heavy sigh that drags like the last train that came to a stop. ‘Shit, I can’t believe this. No wonder, I can’t stop thinking about her,’ he thought snooping down and sat on the staircase. I sat down beside him and patted his back lightly.

 

“I’m here if you need to talk. Don’t bottle it up, Donny,” I mentioned.

 

“So I’m really that obvious?” He laughed rolling his eyes.

 

“Yeah, you’re worse than ZT,” I chuckled.

 

“Hey! Are you really helping me or insulting me?” Donny Li frowned.

 

“Both,” I smiled.

 

“I knew it,” he grinned before sighing. “So….what should I do?” He asked.

 

“How about partying with us? And flirt with her until she likes you,” I suggested.

 

“Mm…should work. No woman can resist my charms,” Donny Li smirked mischievously.

 

“It’s Shani, Donny. She resisted you before you even tried, remember,” I joked.

 

“We’ll see about that,” Donny Li smiled.

 

Suddenly, we overheard footsteps approaching our direction. We turned around and realized it Sei and ZT.

 

“Donny Li, don’t tell me you’re crying because you got your feelings hurt,” Sei teased.

 

“What! No,” Donny Li rolled his eyes.

 

“Don’t cry, bro. I’m here for you, man…..!” ZT yelled and threw himself against him.

 

“Get off me, ZT!” Donny Li hollered shoving him off as he flew on the ground laughing.

 

“Where’s Elena and Aya?” I asked watching them.

 

“They left a few minutes ago,” ZT answered.

 

“We’ll meet up at their hotel, Rose’s for 8:30 PM,” Sei informed.

 

“You guys still going?” Donny Li asked trying to be cool.

 

“Yeah!” They replied.

 

“Plus hotpot awaits us, man! I could taste already,” Sei joked imagining it.

 

“Then, let’s go,” I said.

 

“Yeah,” the guys agreed and we left the building.

 

SHANI

 

After twenty-seven minutes of traffic passed. I finally arrived at Rose’s hotel. Walking through the lobby, I head into the open elevator that was empty. I pressed the 7th floor. It ascended to my location and stopped abruptly. I exited it and head down the hall to my room. As soon as I unlocked my door with my key-card and opened it. I found Ruby lying down on the couch wearing pink and white striped pajamas sipping her coffee at a snail’s pace. She had the remote, flicking through channels. ‘She must have had a bad day to be dress like this, this early,’ I thought and smiled when she faced me.

 

“Hey, Ruby! Did you solve the wedding cake issue?” I asked as she waved her hand at me.

 

“Yes, Lara, and I finally got it back to normal. The bride and groom seem happy with it and it tastes great,” she smiled and switch to the We Got Married Series channel. On-screen, showed Kai’s and Alice’s wedding ceremony which was a fairytale theme, to be specific, Snow White’s influence. Then the next section displayed He Ling’s and Pearl’s Hawaii honeymoon.

 

“That’s good to hear,” I answered. “When you will stop watching We Got Married Series?” I asked locking the door behind me and entered the living room before I sat down on the couch’s chair.

 

“I don’t know but I want to be on that show, Shani. It’s so popular, everyone knows it,” she admitted laughing.

 

“Not everyone likes it. It’s just fake feelings, fake couples, and viewers wishing they could be together for real,” I rolled my eyes.

 

“Honestly, you really don’t have a heart for romance anymore, Shani,” Ruby replied.

 

I scoffed, “I never did, Ruby” and shrugged, “Anyway, go ahead I’m not stopping you. Celebrities will be infatuated with your creations because it’s beautiful and delicious,” I suggested.

 

“Awe….” Ruby smiled. She chuckled and then teased, “I’m just joking, Shani. Here’s my recommendation, you should do it with Donny Li.”

 

My eyes shot opened widely as she laughed as I yelled, “Ruby! What the heck? No! I left entertainment early because of that idiot!”

 

“Oh my gosh, I think you need a drink to cool down, Shani,” Ruby grinned.

 

I got up from the couch and walked over to the fridge to grab a soda. Before I sank into the chair comfortably and sipped my drink.

 

“Did you guys have a lovers’ quarrel?” Ruby asked giggling.

 

I almost choke, I glared at her, “Ruby, don’t say foolishness. I don’t want to talk about this.”

 

The front door alarmed, we looked over and saw Elena and Aya entering.

 

“Shani, we finish organizing the guys’ outfits. Anyways, they’ll be meeting us here soon so get ready you,” Aya confirmed.

 

“What? Will Donny Li be there?” I asked, still upset.

 

“Of course, you guys what Ruby said in the first place, duh,” Elena added and picked up a cushion and sent it after Ruby. “Stop relaxing, Ruby.”

 

“Ow, Elena, why do you always want to pick a fight with me?” Ruby asked.

 

“I’m not but you need to shower and get ready. You planned this, Ruby,” Elena said.

 

“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Ruby smirked getting off the couch.

 

“I don’t want to go, girls. I’ll feel miserable because of that guy,” I whined referring to stupid Donny Li.

 

“Shani, get a grip on yourself. Donny Li isn’t God, he’s human. You can handle him,” Aya encouraged.

 

I smiled at her, she had always been my motivator.

 

“Yeah right, Aya. I won’t let him burst my bubble. I’ll fun, tonight,” I smirked.

 

“That’s what we want to hear!” Elena exclaimed excitedly.

 

“She’s back, girls! Let’s party,” Ruby laughed.

 

“Oh yeah, Sei has been asking for you since you left, you know,” Aya told Ruby.

 

“Really? Sei, honey, wait for me I’m coming, Pookie bear!” Ruby shouted running into her room and then the bathroom for a quick shower.

 

Aya, Elena, and I laughed at her fangirl reaction. Aya told me what happen after I left. She mentioned Donny Li was furious and left them alone in the room. Lau decided to chase after him. Elena didn’t know why but assumed that Lau went to calm Donny down.

 

‘Did I hurt him that bad?’ I wondered in thought.

 

Then Aya snapped her figures in front of my eyes and got my attention.

 

“What is it, Aya?” I asked smiling.

 

“Is something wrong, Shani? You just doze off in the middle of our conversation,” she pointed out, staring at me curiously as Elena did the same.

 

“Spill the tea, sweetheart,” Elena said, hoping I would reveal my thoughts but I didn’t.

 

“My mug is empty, there’s nothing to say,” I answered before escaping quickly into my bedroom and shut the door behind my back.

 

“Donny Li, why are you such an ass?” I mumbled to myself in wonder before getting ready.

 

GETTING READY: CLOTHES & MAKE-UP

 

Three minutes later, Ruby came out of the bathroom. She was wrapped in her green towel. Her hair was damp in an up-do style. She found Elena and Aya chatting.

 

“So what happened when I wasn’t there?” She asked.

 

Aya turned and realized she was wiping hair in her head towel.

 

“Ruby, you should have seen Shani’s and Donny Li’s argument. They were literally in each other faces plus…” Aya got interrupted by Elena.

 

“They fell on each other. Their position was hilarious. And, Sei kept asking for you nonstop. He seems to be interested, you should flirt, Ruby before someone else snatches him away,” she warned giggling at Ruby’s wide stares in shock.

 

“Definitely! I can’t believe all that happen when I wasn’t there. Like what the heck? If I hadn’t gone to fix that error in the cake I would have seen it. Lara needs to learn to fix the cake tilts by herself so I won’t miss any drama that’s happening in Shani’s life,” she joked, but she was serious.

 

“Did the bride and the groom like it?” Aya asked referring to their wedding cake.

 

“Yeah, they did. They loved it!” Ruby smiled.

 

While Elena thought out loud, “Could it be that Donny likes Shani? Then if so…”

 

“Elena, what are thinking?” Ruby asked.

 

“About getting Shani and Donny Li together,” she said.

 

“Impossible,” Ruby chuckled. “You know Shani hates him. There’s no way she could like him.”

 

“Nothing is impossible with a little alcohol,” Aya smirked wickedly.

 

“What are you saying, Aya? You want to get Shani and Donny Li drank?” Elena asked seriously.

 

“Yeah, what you think, Elena? That’s it, that’s the solution to all their problems”, Ruby mumbled.

 

“True,” Aya agreed, suddenly they overheard Shani’s bedroom door open and paused like nothing was going on.

 

SHANI

 

I hurried shut my door and threw myself onto the comfy bed. I rolled back and forth the lavender sheets. Then a flashback appeared before my eyes. It recalled how Donny Li and I fell on each other on the tiled cold floor. I still remembered his chiseled handsome face and strong muscular arms that held up me like I was Mount Everest. The only downside of things, was his hands weren’t supporting the right place; my chest. However, I’m glad to didn’t drop me and tried to prevent me from falling but it happened anyway.

 

“He might be a needle in my skin. How comes I feel guilty for shouting at him, that fool,” I thought aloud, strangely finding myself blushing.

 

‘No, no, no….these feelings have to stop,” I told myself and sighed heavily.

 

I tapped my cheeks lightly, got off the bed, and opened my closet. I began picking out my outfits. Apparently, the majority were my designs and others came from the latest fashion brands such as Chanel, Versace, FENTY, Jeremy Scott, Gucci, and mine, of course, Shani Clarity, etc. And, accessorized with Christian Louboutin heels and a variety of beanies, berets, purses, wallets, shades, Rolex Watches, perfumes, cosmetics, and last but not least, converse shoes.

 

Converse shoes are definitely a fashion statement in my causal style. I love it!

 

Since the occasion was for clubbing, I noticed I hadn’t worn my cherry-red curtail, sweetheart neckline dress paired with a black lace leather jacket. I had brought this dress at a CHANEL store in Paris for a blind date, but I never show up because of work. Do you blame me? Besides, the guy wasn’t my type, thank God for technology and background checks. I pulled out my favorite r pair of Christian Louboutin heels off the shelf. It was designed with red diamonds from Italy. I place my outfit on the bed and left my room to take a shower. When I was about to open the door, I overheard Ruby murmuring before Aya nodded agreeing on something.

 

“Yeah, what you think, Elena? That’s it, that’s the solution to all their problems”, Ruby mumbled.

 

I walked out of my room and caught them acting suspiciously.

 

“What’s going on? What are you girls talking about?” I asked curiously.

 

“Ah, nothing,” Elena lied calmly. She faced Ruby and scolded, “You’re still in your towel? Hurry up get dressed for Sei, Ruby.” She pushed her in the direction of the room laughing.

 

“Stop it, Elena,” Ruby chuckled awkwardly.

 

“Wait! How are we dressing?” I asked.

 

Aya clapped her hands and announced, “Sexy, of course!” She smirked, “I’m going to seduce ZT so he can be drunk in my love.”

 

Ruby grinned, “Can’t wait to see that, Aya” and then she went off to her room to change.

 

“I guess I’ll be only one sober to drive two idiots home,” Elena frowned.

 

I laughed at her response and looked at Aya, “Whatever you say, Aya.”

 

“Okay, Shani,” she winked and smiled mischievously at me.

 

Elena and Aya went into the kitchen to grab something to eat. I headed to the bathroom to shower. Afterward, I brushed my teeth while getting dressed in my outfit. Then I curled my shoulder-length hair and put on my heels. I sprayed on Nina Ricci’s perfume and added a light touch of lip-gloss on my lips before exiting the bedroom. I spotted Elena, Ruby, and Aya chattering on the couch.

 

“Are you girls ready?” I asked and their heads turned in my direction in surprise as they stood up.

 

“Woah…Shani, you look smoking hot, sweetie,” Ruby complimented, wearing Versace tropical lemon print dress and they agreed, nodding.

 

“Donny Li, won’t keep his hands off you,” Aya teased, she had on a dark pink leather jacket over a white Anna Sui pleated satin dress.

 

I frowned at the sound of his name being spoken. “Don’t joke about things like that, Aya. You know I hate the guy,” I rolled my eyes and folded my arms with my purse in one hand.

 

Out of the blue, Elena’s phone rang. Her ringtone INSANE’s Overdose echoed in the living room. She wore a sliver, laced Marc Jacobs’s dress. Staring down at her phone screen, she alerted, “It’s the guys.”

 

“Answer,” Ruby said.

 

She nodded, “Alright” and picked up the call.
