Flower on the ash

Graham's POV:

All of them left the room and now me and Penelope were alone in the room. It has been years since I last saw her. Alex had told me that Penelope had joined his company 3 years ago so I started to come this city more often in hope to see her but she kept avoiding me. But now we have finally met. I wouldn't let go of her now.

" How can you leave me alone back at that time?" Penelope said angrily pulling my tie. I grabbed her waist and pulled her to sit on my lap, her legs on either side of mine. Penelope eyes went wide for my actions.

" Penelope." I said looking at her eyes. She was silent now and we both were staring at each other's eyes. It felt so relaxing to look at the one you love. I could stay with her like this forever.

" Graham." she whispered my name and lifted her hands towards my face. She trailed down her hand starting from my forehead, my cheeks and slowly coming down to my neck. She hugged me tightly, her hands wrapped around my neck.

" I-I missed y-you." she said and started sobbing. I caressed her head. "Why did you left me? I was scared that I won't be able to see you again." She was crying hard.

" I'm so sorry for hurting you." I said consoling her. That day I broke up with her in order to protect her but who knew that I'll be the one to hurt you the most in your life. Back at that time a bussiness war started between my father and step-uncle. Later we came to know about his many crimes like fraud, tax evasion, money laundering and even murders. He started assailing his own relatives and friends. I was worried that if he came to knew about Penelope he will also attack her, so I broke up with her and went back to France. That was the most heart breaking decision of my life till now. Police couldn't catch my step-uncle and from two years he hasn't showed up as if he never existed in this world.

"Penelope do you hate me?" I asked her. She nodded her head still hiding her face in my chest.

" Would you forgive me?" I asked again. She didn't react for a moment. She pulled herself away from the hug and looked at me in my eyes.

" I don't know. If you dare to leave me again I swear that I will be the one to hunt you down." she said clutching my shirt with her hands.

" I promise I won't leave you again." I said with a smile.

" I don't believe in your promises anymore. So just don't make any promise from now on." she said and it broke my heart. I came to know about the incident that happened to her grandmother from Alex. Alex was the one who kept me informed about everything that happened with her when I was not around. Penelope again put her head on my shoulder.

I was still caressing Penelope's hair and she was silent for a while now. I looked down and found that she is sleeping, resting her head on my shoulder and clutching my shirt with her hands as if she doesn't want me to leave her even when she is asleep. I smiled looking at her and lifted her up in bridal style.

I walked out of the hotel. Most of the employees were already gone while some were still there chatting with each other. I walked to the parking area with Penelope in my arms. My driver was waiting for me there. He saw me coming and opened the car's door for me. I put Penelope first and then I also sat on the car. The driver closed the door and started driving towards the hotel I was currently staying in.

We reached the hotel in twenty minutes. Penelope was still sleeping soundly. Maybe she was too tired today. I picked her up and went up to my room. I put her on the bed and took off her shoes. As I put her legs on the bed she turned her body causing her dress to ride up. My nose bleed at the sight of her. Her soft and perfect body. I extended my hand because of the temptation to touch her but I stopped my movement in middle.

" Hope you don't hate me when you are awake." I said to her sleeping self. I touched her face with my hand and slowly slided it towards her lips. She parted her lips when I touched her lips even when she was asleep.

" Maybe a little inappropriate is ok." I said to myself and kissed her on her lips. " Sweet dreams Penelope." I said and switched off the light. I cuddled her and dozed off to sleep.
