Flower on the ash

I kept working surrounded with piles of paper until it was time to leave the office. I cleared my table and put the files in their respective places. I turned off my computer, stood up from the chair, stretching my limbs and grabbed my handbag. I also took my application for one day leave for the day after tomorrow and walked out of my cabin into Alex's cabin and saw him doing some paperwork. I put the paper on Alex's table.

" Are you off work?" Alex asked looking at me.

" Yep." I said to him nodding. He took the paper which I just kept on the table and he signed it.

" Here." he said handing me the paper back. I put it in my handbag.

" Wait for a minute. I'll be done just by a few minutes then I will drop you off." he said. I really like how he care for me but I don't want to trouble him to do all this and take responsibility of me.

" No. I'll be fine on my own." I said to him refusing his offer.

" Anna. Dropping you off to your home, I don't see it as a responsibility. I love spending my time with you and I don't want to miss any chance to do that." he said with a serious face. I am sure now that Alex has some supernatural power to read my mind. My heart melted hearing him say those words. I don't knew how to react on this. I stood there still on the spot.

" Come sit here." he said and gestured me to sit in front of him. I slowly walked up to the chair and seated myself.

" Just wait for few minutes." he said and I nodded my head. He started to do his work. He looked even more handsome when he was working. I had nothing to do now. I put both of my elbows on the table and face in my hands. I looked at him and took a deep breath. His handsome face and his sharp features. Any girl could drool over him for his handsomeness. Those sharp eyes, sharp nose, sharp jaw and pink lips. His lips were having a natural tint of pink colour and looked soft. Those soft pink lips kissing someone...

" Anna." I came out of my thoughts when I heard Alex calling my name.

" Do you have any idea how dangerous it is for you to stare at a man's face with parted lips?" Alex said making me completely red in embarrassment and I thought how dirty my mind was just a moment ago.

" I-I wasn't staring at you." I said quickly defending myself looking away from his face.

" Don't lie Anna. See your drool is coming out of your mouth." he said and pointed towards my face. I quickly tried to wipe the place where Alex pointed but I felt no existence of any liquid. I put my hand down when I realised he was just making a fool of me. I can't even manage to see him I was this embarrassed.

" D-Don't make such type of jokes." I said to him, my cheeks deep red.

" Haha. You are too cute when you blush." he said and stood up from his chair. He came towards me and turned me around with my chair so that we were facing each other now. He leaned towards me putting his hand on the table behind me to support himself. His face was really close to mine and my heart was beating super hard as if it may come out any second. I was wondering if even he could hear my heart's unusual beatings. He stared into my eyes and spoke, "Anna I don't want you to feel embarrassed in front of me. I want you to be comfortable and free around me. I want you to rely on me. I am not very good in expressing my interest towards someone by words but always remember that you and only you will be the one for my entire life." he said. He took my hand and pressed it on his chest, " This is my heart and I want it to beat only for you." I could feel his heartbeat on my hand. He took a deep breath and continued, " I know you are not ready yet but I'll wait for you until you will accept me whole heartedly."

" Alex. Maybe I'm ready to give it a chance. I don't know what the outcome of it will be but I'm willing to face it with you beside me." I said to him softly. I know I have also developed some feelings for him in my heart too. It's just that I can't express that out well or maybe I'm afraid to tell him. What if we didn't match well? But I still want to give it a chance. I don't care for how long it is but I want to experience this with him. Maybe...I like him.

" Hmm..." I hummed at his words.
