Flower on the ash

We were now sitting on the couch in the drawing-room. The moment earlier was a little awkward, so we tried not to talk about that topic.

" Sorry for breaking in like this. We didn't know that you two were er...doing something." Penelope said to Kelly.

" It's okay." Kelly replied.

" By the way, I'm Penelope." she said and extended her hand. Kelly accepted it and shook hands with her.

" And I'm Kelly." Kelly also introduced herself.

" How are you? What about your new job?" I asked her.

" I'm fine as well as my job. RMG is really a fascinating company." she said.

" RMG? The new company?" Penelope asked.

" Yeah. Mr.Wilson recently bought it." Kelly said.

" Graham said that there's a new employee who recently joined RMG. So it's you." she said looking astonished.

" You and Graham are close." I commented.

" It's nothing like that. I was in the canteen eating food, the day when you said that you are on leave. The same day he had come to visit Alex. So we met accidentally." she said.

" Excuse me. I'm going to the washroom." Penelope said and got up. I nodded my head and she walked away.

I was sitting alone in the hall when my phone rang. I picked it up.

" Hello." Alex's voice came on the phone.

" Hii." I said.

" What are you doing?" he asked me.

" I'm in Kelvin's house to meet Kelly with Penelope. What about you?" I said to him.

" Nothing. Just missing you in my cabin." he said. I saw Kelly coming from the kitchen.

" Alex, I'll talk to you later. Come back soon." I said.

" Ok. Bye." he said and I hung up the call.

" Where's Penelope?" Kelly asked me, putting the tray on the table in front of us.

" She went to the washroom. Ah, here she comes." I said looking at Penelope coming back.

" Why there is no worker in the house?" Penelope asked Kelly, sitting back on the couch.

" He fell sick so Kelvin gave him one month leave." she replied.

We all chatted and drank some beverages. Penelope and Kelly became friends in their first meet. Time flew and soon it was time to leave. I and Penelope said goodbye to Kelly and Penelope send me back to Alex's house, taking Zeus from Graham on the way. After reaching there, Penelope helped me to carry all the shopping bags inside the house and hide them in a better place. I said thank you to her and then she left. I closed the door and sat on the couch with Zeus near my leg.

" Do you want to eat something?" I asked Zeus patting his head. He barked and stood up hearing the word 'eat'. Surely, he is hungry.

I got up and walked towards the kitchen. I opened the cabinet and took out Zeus's food. Zeus followed me wherever I was going. I entered his room and filled his bowl. Zeus happily wailed his tail and started to eat. Leaving him to eat peacefully, I came back to the kitchen. Alex would be home soon. I started to prepare dinner. I was preparing chicken pasta. While cooking I remembered that the first time I visited this house on the rainy night Alex had prepared chicken pasta for us. I was done in the kitchen when the doorbell rang. I quickly walked towards the door and opened it to see Alex standing there with his most appealing smile.

" Welcome back home." I said to him smiling as he entered.

" Hm. You have prepared something. The house is filled with the aroma." he said smiling at me.

" Yeah. Go and freshen up. I'll bring the food." I said to him and he nodded. He walked off towards the room and me towards the kitchen. I carried the food to the dining room and arranged it on the table. Shortly, Alex came to the dining room and sat on the chair. I served him and myself food. I also sat down beside Alex.

" How's it?" I asked him. He took a bite of the food I prepared. I was observing his every expression.

" It's very delicious." he complimented.

" Thank you." I said, my eyes sparkling by hearing praise from him. I also started to eat dinner.

We both finished our dinner and I was going to wash the dishes when Alex stopped me. He insisted that he will wash the dishes since I prepared the dinner. I tried to refuse him but in vain. I sighed and walked up to our room while Alex washed the dishes. Before entering our room, I checked on Zeus. He was asleep in his bed. I closed the door slowly, not wanting to wake him up. I flopped on our bed after changing my dress.
