Flower on the ash

I was feeling really tired as I was out the whole day. I rubbed my eyes and yawned.

" You seem really tired." Alex's voice came. I slowly lifted my eyes towards his figure.

" Yeah. I'm exhausted today." I said.

" Sleep then." he said and walked up to the bed. He covered both of us in the blanket and I rested my head on the pillow.

" Let's go somewhere tomorrow." he said to me.

" No." I said louder than I expected. Alex looked at me a little taken aback. "I mean that I get easily tired these days. I'll rest at home." I said. If we make a plan to go out tomorrow then all my efforts would be wasted.

" Ok. As you wish. Now sleep." He said touching my head. I nodded my head and closed my eyes which were feeling heavy. Soon I entered the dreamland.

Morning came and the same routine was followed. Waking up, getting ready, eating, and saying goodbye to Alex when he left for the office. When he left I bathed Zeus and then served him his breakfast. While giving a bath to Zeus, I was wet once again so I had to take bath one more time.

When everything was done, I came back to the drawing-room. I started to cleaning the house and decorating it for Alex's surprise. Mainly I had planned to decorate the dining and drawing-room. After Zeus had done eating, he came downstairs where I was and kept going back and forth with me.

Cleaning the house took me so much time that it was almost time to prepare lunch for myself. I quickly prepared noodles for me while Zeus had his food in his room. Today I hadn't had any time to spend with Zeus. He understood that and just accompanied me everywhere.

After lunch, all the cleaning was done and I had put all the candles and decorative items in their respective areas. I prepared a homemade cake whose ingredients I bought yesterday. I was decorating the cake when the doorbell rang. I washed my hands and went to open the door. A man was standing there with flowers in his hand. I guessed that he was from the shop from which I ordered to deliver the flowers. I accepted it and paid him with a little tip. I put the flowers on the table in the drawing-room and was back to the kitchen. I continued my work of decorating the cake while humming songs. I was really excited to surprise Alex.

I prepared a variety of food for dinner and arranged flowers in the drawing hall and dining area. The house was looking really beautiful. Red roses were decorated all over with candles that were yet to be lighted up.

" Hii baby." I said and went near him. Zeus stood up when heard me. I squat down on his level and held his head.

" Let's get ready for Alex's birthday surprise." I said to him smiling. I opened the packet. It contained a black bow tux suit and bow tie.

" See what I bought for you. You will look handsome in it." I said and dressed him up. I couldn't take my eyes off him. He was looking so adorable.

" My Zeus is the cutest one." I said rubbing his cheeks. "Wait for me. I'll be ready in a minute." I said to him and walked towards my room, but before that, I filled his bowl with food so that if he was hungry he can eat it.

I checked the time once I was in the room. It was 6:30 p.m. right now. I only have thirty minutes to get ready. Alex will be coming back at 7 p.m sharp. I hurriedly changed my dress which Penelope bought for me. It was a beautiful red dress with straps on my shoulders and reached a little above my knees. I matched it with my earnings and sandals. I applied make-up and painted my lips red. I let my hair open with light curls at the end. When I was ready I walked downstairs with Zeus at my side.

I dimmed the lights and lit up the candles as it was almost five past seven now. The house was illuminated with yellow light because of the candles and roses made the scene more romantic. I was very excited to look at Alex's reaction once he sees all of these. As I was done I heard the doorbell rang. I put the box of the ring which I bought for Alex in the kitchen and ran towards the door. I opened the door to reveal Alex standing there. He was surprised looking at me with widened eyes.

" Welcome home, Dear." I said to him, beaming. He was stunned. I saw him froze in a single spot, I held his hand and pulled him inside the house. I closed the door and turned to look at Alex.
