Forever Destined To The Silver Shadow

Chapter 244 - Stop Being A Lamb

Celestia's POV:

"Where is Darius?" I screamed out to the gang.

They all were puzzled by my question. Some of them turned to their sides to see if he was there. But he was not in the garden.

Then I fixed my gaze at Vivian. "Did you happen to see Darius?"

"Yes, I did," he replied.. "Darius was with us. The Demon Princess had the rest of us warriors imprisoned in the barrier—but Darius alone was restrained with dead rock chain—"

I gasped. "So they didn't release him?"

"I assumed that they did—"

So Darius has been captured! Why would Silver Shadow do that? Just when I was feeling warm towards him, he did something like this and regained my hatred again.

Maybe it is a good thing for me! I feel disillusioned now. Still, I didn't hate him entirely. He saved my life and honor; he loves me truly.

"This changes everything," Edwin said while I was struggling in my head in deciding if I should love or hate that trickster. "Now that Darius is captured, we can't hide the truth from others anymore."

Just when we all thought that we could get away with our mistake, we were checkmated again. This is like playing the mortal game called chess, and Silver Shadow always wins in this with his tricks. He is so wicked; still, I like him!

"Fine," I said after a while. "Let us tell the Fae King about this. He sure will be mad at us for taking a huge step without his knowledge, but we have no choice other than this! It is better now than later—"

"But he will be mad when he knows that Prince Darius is captured," Laris stated.

"We also have no other choice than this," I responded. "Or let me take full responsibility for this situation. The Fae King can reprimand me alone. You all don't have to take the blame—"

"Celestia…"Edwin shouted my name. "You really need to stop being a sacrificial lamb for us. We all did this, and we all are going to take the blame—"

I was a little intimidated by his tone. "Okay," I agreed immediately.

"That is better, Celestia! You can't keep on putting your life on the line for others. Do you understand?"

"Yes, I do," I replied to him as if he was my higher authority. But Edwin is just looking out for me. That is so sweet of him!

I smiled at the blonde-haired sweet guy in front of me and said, "Let us all take the blame together—"

A dimpled smile formed on his face. He was about to say something, but Daviana arrived at the scene and shouted out, "What on Aiden's name is going on here?"

I shuddered. At least Father Oberon would reprimand me for my actions, and he will be done with it. But Daviana will give me a lecture for a day on how reckless I was.

Daviana was shrewd enough to sense what was going on around me. She has been seeing me ever since I was an infant; she literally raised me!

"Did you all warriors go out for a night hunt?" she asked while she had her hazel eyes on me.

"Well…." I stammered. "We were actually on a hunt last night. But we weren't able to hunt anything. The animal we tried to hunt was sneaky, and it got away from us—"

I bit my tongue in embarrassment. That was a really lame explanation. Still, Daviana seemed to believe it.

"Whatever," she sighed. "At least you didn't go for a hunt alone—that trickster could be lurking anywhere—"

I chuckled nervously. How will she react when she knows that not only did I meet up with that trickster—but also I shared a passionate kiss with him. Even when I confess this to my father, I should leave out that kissing part.

"And Celestia, the Fae King, has fallen sick again this morning," Daviana said and shook me.

"What?" I gasped. "Father Oberon is sick?! But how? He was fine yesterday."

"I don't know," she sighed. "He was really fine till yesterday night. But when a firebird arrived at his chamber and gave him a message. He apparently fell sick immediately after he read that—"

I glanced at Edwin in dread. He was mortified too! Then Edwin turned back to Daviana and asked her, "Do you have any idea what the message is?"

"No," she shook her head. "Why would the Fae King tell me about the secret message he got? But I assume that the message is from one of the Fae Lords."

"No, it isn't," I opposed. "We have a wild guess about the message sender. It is none other than...."

I didn't have the strength to say his name to Daviana. Ever since I met Silver Shadow in my new life, Daviana had lectured me a thousand times to stay away from him. She also told me not to confront him—as I could not defeat him.

I just stood silent for a moment. She flipped her brown hair and said, "Okay, Celestia. I know that something is going on here. What did you all do?"

Even before I could answer, Edwin interrupted and replied on my behalf. "I insisted that we all follow the traps of Silver Shadow to capture him. But we failed in that, and it is my fault. I take full responsibility for this—"

I marveled at his answer. Just now, Edwin told me that I shouldn't sacrifice myself for others. Now he does the same thing which he told me not to do. He is such a hypocrite!

Daviana then frowned at me. "So you met that trickster again, even after I told you a million times not to do something like that!"

"No, it is not her fault," Edwin backed me up again. "It was all my idea! And I am the reason why Prince Darius got captured by Silver Shadow—"

I was moved by the way Edwin was backing me up before my over-controlling guardian Daviana—but I won't let him do the same before Father Oberon.
