Forever Destined To The Silver Shadow

Chapter 293 - Gorgeous Serpent Girl

Edwin's POV:

My mind refused to come back from the state of dazedness as I continued to listen to the words of the Fae King. He was abusing his own daughter as if she were a slut. I wondered why he was even scolding Celestia. She was abducted from here against her will. She was determined to never fall for that trickster again. Yet the Fae King abuses her?!

I pressed my lips in a thin line to prevent myself from speaking anything against the King. But the King seemed to notice my hesitation. He frowned and said, "Edwin, I can see that you want to say something. Go ahead—"

"Your majesty," I hesitated again. "It's just that…. Celestia is innocent, and I think it is not fair to blame her…."

I thought that the King would yell at me, but a smile formed on his lips. "You love her so much, don't you?"

I was dazed once again. How did he even know about that? He can't read my mind without physical contact, unlike the Sirens. When I was utterly bewildered, he chucked again.

"Edwin, did you forget what I just said a while ago? I know everything that is happening around me. And by everything, I mean everything…."

"I am sorry, your majesty," I bowed down before him. "I never meant to love the Dawn. But I swear that I only see her as my friend. I will never try to misbehave with her—"

"Oh come on, boy," he sighed. "I don't think that any man is capable of controlling his desire, especially when it comes to women—"

I didn't know what to say. If I say yes, then I will turn out as a pervert. If I say no, then I will be disagreeing with the statement of the King. So I just stood still without giving him a response.

"Relax, boy! I am not going to punish you for this. Instead, I have decided to reward you—"

"What?" I gasped. "You are going to reward me?"

"Yes," he beamed. "I am going to give you exactly what you need. You can have the Dawn!"

At first, I thought he was kidding. But the mighty King never makes a joke. He is always serious. So is he seriously offering me his daughter?!

"But...but… you can't possibly give her to me," I blurted. "Because she doesn't love me, and she is Dawn. She is supposed to be a maiden forever—"

"Oh, come on, boy! We both know that the ship sailed away a long time ago. She has lost her maidenhood to that trickster again now."

I felt a pang of sadness in my heart. "What?! But Celestia was so determined not to…. No! Your majesty, this must have happened against her will. That trickster must have forced himself on her!"

"No, he didn't," he said. "Celestia willingly gave herself to that trickster. She is ruined again! And I think that this is my fault. I failed as a father."

His expression darkened slightly. "I don't think that I can tame her anymore. And that is why I am offering her to you. Once I rescue her from that trickster, I want you to tame her! Do you understand?!"

"I should… tame her? I don't understand…."

The King was about to say something to me, but he paused when a green smoke appeared in his room. I got altered immediately and clutched the sword in my sheath firmly. The already dazed me was petrified when I saw the creature that appeared from the smoke.

I am not going to lie; she looked very beautiful. Her eyes and her long hair were of the color of emerald green. My pulse rate got rapid when my gaze fell below her neck. She was wearing a semi-transparent fabric that showed off her curves elegantly. She is incredible! It was hard for me to stand still while she came to us.

But all the attractions that I felt for her vanished immediately when I looked at the lower part of her body. She didn't have legs at all! She had a freaking green-scaled tail in place of her legs. This one is not a girl! She is a Serpent! How did this thing even get in here? This kind of shadow creature can't come to our land at all. Whatever! This thing must have come here to kill the King. I should protect the King now!

I immediately unsheathed my weapon and jumped in front of the King. "Your Highness, please stand behind me. I will take care of this serpent."

I heard the laughter of the King. And the serpent girl in front of me joined the King too! What is happening here? Then the green tail of the Serpent girl disappeared, and she turned into a normal girl with legs. My heart fluttered again as she no longer looked dangerous but beautiful. Yet, I have seen her real form. So I should not admire her no matter how gorgeous she looks.

"Edwin, lower your sword now. She is my friend," the King said and shook me for the third time today. I dropped the weapon down on the floor as my hands started to tremble. What does he mean by she is his friend? I tried hard to understand if their connection was political or physical. I have heard that the Fae King has a lot of secret mistresses whose identity is not known to even the guards and servants in this castle.

I always thought that the Fae King would only associate himself with the creatures of light. I agree that this girl is gorgeous—but our King would even have shadow creatures as mistresses?! And that too, a venomous serpent?!

I have heard a lot about the serpents before. They are very sneaky and dangerous beings to associate with. They can betray anyone at any time. They are never really anyone's ally.. The only advice our ancestors gave to us was to never associate with the serpents. And now our righteous Fae King says that this serpent girl is his friend?! This is really hard to believe!
