Forever Destined To The Silver Shadow

Chapter 64 - Goblet Of Firewater.

Celestia's POV:

All the Mages and wizards of the Valley region were gathered on the banks of the streams. No one wanted to sleep or take a rest after the tiring battle.

Everyone was celebrating the victory. Some of them were playing musical instruments like the flute and harp. And then some danced to the tunes. Theo and I stood outside of the cottage and watched them enjoying themselves.

Only after I heard the Mages playing the harps, I realized the virtue of Theo's music. No offense to the Mages, but when Theo plays the harp, it gives me an immense amount of pleasure.

The mages of the Northern region seemed to be much more fun and cheerful than the Southerners. It is hard even to see the Mages in the Southern Lord smile, but people here are over-enthusiastic.

Even though everyone around us was happy, I was still sad. Because I finally connected the dots with my vision and Theo's justification. Theo told me that the light and the shadow creatures are going to engage in a battle soon.

And in my vision, I saw the Forest of Light burning. So does that mean the Shadow forces will win the war and burn my motherland?!!!

But that shouldn't be happening! Holy Aiden will never let the dark side win. The side of light is much more powerful than the side of darkness. But still, my visions were telling me otherwise.

All these thoughts were hurting my head. And Theo is not able to read my mind yet. My mental shield was still keeping him from reading my thoughts. I hope that my shield wears off soon.

When Theo was able to read my mind, he would not let me be sad even for a second. He comforted me immediately whenever I thought of something negative in my mind.

But Theo asked me to say everything out to him, but if I tell him about this vision, I feel that he might not take it seriously. Theo doesn't believe in premonitions. He thinks that the fates can be changed according to the will of an individual.

I don't know how I will be able to convince him about this. I guess I will have to tell him about this tomorrow. I tried to keep my mind blank and saw the sight in front of me.

A large cauldron was placed on the bank of the stream, and the Mage warriors were preparing firewater wine. This was the first time I saw someone preparing the firewater. I wonder how it tastes like! I have heard that firewater wine is made from fermented grape juice. And when someone consumes the drink, they tend to get elated for a certain period of time.

"Celestia, have you ever tasted the firewater," Theo raised a question out of the blue.

"No," I groaned. "Father Oberon banned the firewater and all other types of wine in our Kingdom. If anyone were to produce those drinks illegally, then they would be reprimanded and thrown in the dungeon."

Theo began to giggle. I don't know what he finds funny here. "King Oberon never fails to prove to me that he is lame!" Theo laughed out loud.

"But my father considered the firewater as the drops of hell," I argued with him. "He told me that the one who drinks firewater directly pledges their allegiance to the Demon God. Since Mages and Wizards drink firewater, he considered them impure."

Theo wasn't able to control his laughter. If only I knew why this was funny, I would be laughing with him too!

After a while, Theo tried to pull himself together, and then he gazed at me. "My sweetness, I thought Oberon deceived only you by telling untruths like this. But I believe now that he has been deceiving the whole Highland region."

"So firewater are not droplets of hell?" I asked him again.

Theo shook his head immediately. He then held my hand and took me close to the large cauldron. One of the mages was mixing the reddish-brown liquid with a large wooden ladle. I inhaled the fruity aroma of the wine.

"Look at the cauldron, Celestia," Theo said. "Does this all look like droplets of hell to you?"

"No, it's not," I replied immediately. I wonder why Father Oberon would lie to me about this, to everyone!

The Mages prepared the firewater pretty quickly. Lord Magnus and his daughter Marilyn arrived at the spot soon after that. The mage Lord's daughter seemed to be so stressed out.

What happened to her? Perhaps she has still not come off from the shock. I should probably go and have a word with her when this is all over.

The Mages distributed the firewater to everyone in the copper goblets. I realized that no one was drinking the firewater. They all just held the goblets in their hands.

They offered Theo and me a glass. Theo accepted the drink immediately. But I refused to take it at first, but finally, I gave in to their request when they kept pressuring me.

Maybe I can just hold this goblet for a while and then throw it away. No one would notice, including Theo, as he can't read my mind for now.

"Everybody listen," Lord Magnus shouted. "Let us all raise our goblets and hail the almighty Silver Shadow for saving us from danger."

All of them immediately raised their goblets and applauded Theo. I didn't know if I should join them or not. I just raised my goblet after a while and grinned at Theo.

"Now I request the Silver Shadow to take the first sip from the Goblet of Firewater," the Mage Lord shouted.

I wondered how Theo was able to empty the goblet in a few seconds. I mean, it is firewater! After that, everyone's attention turned to me. Why are they staring at me?

"The Dawn will take the second sip," Lord Magnus announced.

"No," I immediately cried out. "I didn't save you all today. Silver Shadow did."

"But you saved the mage warriors yesterday," Magnus asserted. "And today, even though you were drained of energy, you fought for my daughter and saved her life. So you are requested to take the next sip."

I didn't know what to do! How can I drink this? I glanced at Theo helplessly.

"Just sip it like a potion, my love. It even has ruby berries in it," Theo said.

Does it have Ruby berries?!!!! Why didn't they say this to me before? I immediately gulped the liquid down my throat.. I didn't taste any ruby berries in it. Theo must have lied to me to make me drink! But it tasted like sweet fire!!!!
