Forever Destined To The Silver Shadow

Chapter 86 - Little Green Orc

Celestia's POV:

I walked out of the cavern after that. If I somehow manage to take him out of here, Darius will have a chance to escape. Theo and Lord Magnus were standing close to the staircase, and they were discussing something.

I was about to get out of the cave and expose myself to them, but Darius pulled me back in. "Celestia, you wouldn't be able to trick a trickster. He will catch your bluff for sure," he said in a shallow tone as he didn't want his voice to echo.

"Then what way do we have out of this?" I questioned him.

"Just don't go out there for now," he said. "And this is only the outer regions of the cavern. If we go deep, we might actually find something."

I didn't know how that could be possible because this seems to be an emerald mine. I decided to follow his advice and stayed still. Soon Theo and the Mage Lord climbed up the stairs, and they were gone.

"This is impossible," I gasped. "I thought he sensed my presence, but he just left!"

"Maybe it is this place. No enchantments work here, remember?" Darius said.

It seems to be plausible! Anyway, I am glad that I didn't expose myself, or else I would have messed up for sure. Even when Theo can't read my mind, he is capable of reading my manner. He will find out if I tried to trick him!

Darius and I went deep into the cavern. As we got deeper, more green crystals were on the surface. They were like big green rocks! I wonder who does the deed of extracting the pure Emerald crystals from these rocks.

Lord Magnus said a while ago that his men take one week to make a hundred goblets. So who are his men? Are they Mages or wizards? I don't think that the Wizards are strong enough to mine emeralds from such big rocks.

So it must be the Mages! Since no charms can work here, these poor Mages must work hard to extract the crystals. I instantly felt sorry for those poor Mages!

Suddenly, I heard a set of footprints running away from us. The noise was coming from deep inside the tunnel. I glanced at Darius skeptically. Who was that? I never thought that we had company!

"Should we have to go in?" I asked Darius.

"Of course we have to," he replied. "They are probably the Mages who work here. And they won't do anything to us as you are their Queen now."

I almost forgot the fact that I am the Queen of Lowlands. Someone must remind me of this fact every once in a while until it registers in my mind.

"Fine, let us go," I said. We moved further into the tunnel. But no one seemed to be there. And in the pathway far away from us, everything seemed to be dark.

"It seems like they didn't place torch fires over there," Darius said and took out the fire torch that was on the stone wall of the cave.

"So we are going to do this?" I asked him as I got scared.

Darius gave me a nasty glare. "You are the Dawn, and you are afraid of a little darkness?"

"No, I am not. Let us do this," I smiled weakly and moved forward.

I am not a big fan of roaming in the darkness. But I have never admitted this to others as people saw me as their deity. They all expected so much from me, so I never showed off my vulnerability to others.

But Darius was my mentor, and he knows everything about me. That is why sometimes I obey his instructions without giving a second thought to it, as he knows better about me than I know about myself.

As we reached into the dark region, the noise of someone running was louder and clear. Darius moved the fire torch in the direction of the noise.

I almost screamed when I saw something green behind a rock. "Darius, Look! There is something green over there," I cried out.

"You saw something Green? It must be an emerald rock," he responded.

"But emerald rocks don't move. And that green thing is shaking," I said.

He moved closer to the rock while I stayed behind him. Soon the green thing got up from the ground and began to make squeaky noises.

The little creature's skin was completely green, and it had big hazel eyes. It had no hair in its head, but it had pointed ears. What frightened me the most were its large and sharp canine teeth.

The creature stared at Darius quietly, and it began to cry out loud. Tears flowed like a stream from its huge hazel eyes.

"Please don't hurt me!" the creature sobbed. I was scared of the creature before, but now I feel sorry for it.

Darius stepped backward immediately. "It is a little green orc," he said to me.

"What?" I shouted in surprise. "I thought that they were extinct."

My high tone scared the little green orc even more. I stepped a little closer to the creature and patted its head gently.

"Don't be scared! We are not going to hurt you," I blurted out and hoped that it would stop crying.

And it did! The little orc blinked its hazel eyes at me for a second and smiled at me. "You look so beautiful! Are you an Angel?"

I didn't know what to answer. I glanced at Darius and hoped that he would help me out. But he was scared even to step closer to the orc as he didn't want to upset it again.

"My mom said that an Angel would one day bless us and give us salvation," the little orc said.

The little orc's words saddened me. I was about to pat its head again, but I froze as I noticed a shadow approaching me.

"Step away from my child," shouted a female voice.. I turned to my side and faced a huge female orc who was twice my size.
