Forsaken By Love

Master Lu was not sure what to say. He knew that Lu Nanfeng would have never wanted to show this to Di Zhiqing if Liu Xiulan's actions had not gone over his bottom line.

Lu Nanfeng was aware of how much Di Zhiqing liked Lin Xiulan, so although he broke off with her, he never tried to make things difficult for her, nor did he explain himself in front of Di Zhiqing. 

However, this time Lin Xiulan had truly crossed the bottom line of what he could accept. He was furious about her repeated attempts at separating himself and He Lixue, and he could not take it any longer.

At the same time, she had clearly been bad mouthing He Lixue in front of Di Zhiqing, and now everyone knew that Di Zhiqing disliked her future daughter-in-law. This was not fair to He Lixue, nor was it fair to Di Zhiqing. 

Master Lu sighed. He knew that Lu Nanfeng had wanted to keep a semblance of cordiality with the Lin family, however this time she had truly dug her own grave.

At least He Lixue was steady, and trusted in Lu Nanfeng unconditionally, so Lin Xiulan's attempts at sowing dissent had not worked, but he would never have forgiven himself if he had supported Lin Xiulan and had split up a loving couple. 

Di Zhiqing was also rooted in thought. Every move she made was mechanical as if she was a robot. She was seated on the sofa, her mouth opening and closing as if she wanted to say something, but was unable to actually get the words out of her mouth.

She was thinking back to all the times she had met Lin Xiulan. She remembered how the small and adorable young girl had been coming to their home all the time and followed behind Lu Nanfeng's legs, calling him Brother Lu. 

She was reminded of the many times that when Lu Nanfeng had been busy working, she had been the one to come and visit her and keep her company. Still, she also remembered how all the words she said were about how many gold diggers there were outside and that he should be careful.

She was reminded of how she had been convinced that the two of them were childhood sweethearts from Lin Xiulan's words, but Lu Nanfeng had never once actually paid attention to the woman. 

Then she thought of how Lu Nanfeng had accepted their initial idea of dating because of her suggestions, but later dumped her when he found out she was cheating on him. 

At that point, she never actually tried to listen to Lu Nanfeng's words, and only listened to Lin Xiulan, believing what she said entirely. She was too ashamed to even lift her head. 

It was even worse when Lu Nanfeng finally found a woman whom he actually loved. It was clear that Lu Nanfeng adored He Lixue. He clearly loved her and spoiled her, but she, his mother, never even tried to consider if she was worth it because Lin Xiulan had been saying that this woman was one of the worst kind of gold diggers, that just wanted him to show off, and was actually not sincere to him.

After thinking about how, when it truly mattered, He Lixue never actually doubted him, she finally saw the light. When everyone was skeptical or even doubtful of him, she never wavered. 

When she had offered her money to leave him, He Lixue had looked down on her. At that time, Di Zhiqing thought that she was looking down on the amount, since she could get so much more from Lu Nanfeng, but now she understood that she looked down on her, because she did not trust in her own son's taste. 

No matter how she thought about it, Di Zhiqing felt guilty. She was shocked to know that she had trusted a white-eyed wolf for so many years, and almost chased away the one who could bring happiness to her son. 

His eyes were full of distress whenever he saw her like this, but he grit his teeth and pursed his lips. He had to be stubborn this time so that she will learn her lesson.

"Husband, do you think he can forgive me?" She asked, her voice finally trembling as she raised her eyes and looked at Master Lu. 

Master Lu's heart softened, and he nodded his head. "Our son is not unreasonable," he said gently as he reached out his hand and c.a.r.e.s.sed her head. "He will not blame you. But she indeed went over the top this time. It seems that we men of the Lu family are incredibly loyal towards love. 

"Just look at me, I love you more than my own life, and now Lu Nanfeng found someone whom he loves more than anyone else." 

Di Zhiqing felt sweet in her heart when she heard her husband's words, and she nodded her head, but there were still tears swelling in her eyes.

"I do not plan on objecting to Miss He any longer," Di Zhiqing said with a sigh. "I will also make sure to give her an apology. I am not going to give an explanation, as it was clearly my own mistake to trust Lin Xiulan unconditionally, but now I finally understood how silly I was."

Master Lu felt relieved and nodded his head. "He Lixue is not an unreasonable young woman. She is understanding, and as long as she can feel your sincerity, I am sure that you can start anew with her."

Di Zhiqing's dim eyes lit up with hope. Hopefully, He Lixue was truly as magnanimous as he had said. 

Master Lu and Di Zhiqing began talking after this, and they felt much better. Master Lu began trying to get Di Zhiqing to cheer up again. She did feel much better after talking with her husband and deciding on giving an apology to He Lixue.
