Chapter 105. The Princess is Jealous, So She Plans Mischief

The brown-haired youth, whose sleeping face could only be described as ‘adorable,’ lay peacefully, untouched by any harm.

Valentina felt a twinge of disappointment at Clyde’s performance.

Yet, even if he were an ordinary person caught in this turmoil, she would still care; how much more so for someone she knew?

The battle had ended easily, but the aftermath was a tangled mess.

Valentina had initially considered whether to ‘ask’ Noah for help in keeping an eye on the scene while she fetched others.

After all, it was impossible for her to carry both Clyde and the dismembered demon, Allen, all by herself.

Noah’s response, of course, was:

“Ah? You want me to babysit these two idiots? Why would I waste my time on such a dull task? Just spread your wings and carry one in each hand, can’t you?”

With a yawn that dripped with boredom, Noah turned his gaze away, a picture of indifference, as if he had no intention of helping at all.

“That would only put me in immediate danger! How could I possibly do that?!”

The princess shot an angry glare at the indifferent Noah.

But deep down, she knew that despite his words, he would inevitably lend a hand in the end.

As if to confirm her suspicions, a small squad of knights soon appeared at the park’s edge.

The moment they spotted Valentina from afar, they hurriedly organized themselves and rushed toward her.

See! I told you that awkward divine being would come through for me!

The princess stole a glance at Noah, who was also watching the knights, struggling to suppress a smile at the corners of her mouth.

“Ha, still the same old story—a bunch of useless fools. They always arrive in a flurry after the fact. Would it kill them to notice trouble ahead of time just once?”

This was Noah’s genuine sentiment.

It was one thing for everyone in the original story to have generic faces, but now that each person had their own distinct model, why were they still a bunch of useless background characters?

But to the princess, this was a sign of concern for her!

Surely, the divine being had told them to hurry, and their slow arrival was what made him unhappy!

“…Forget it, it’s not my problem anyway. Boring. I’m off to find some other amusement.”

Noah thought that since the guards had arrived, it was time for him to leave. With the biggest blonde now dealt with, he felt quite pleased and planned to indulge in a good meal, turning toward the shadows where the moonlight could not reach.

Saying he was off to find amusement really just meant he intended to enjoy a feast, for good food could indeed lift one’s spirits.

“…”

But upon hearing this, the joy in Valentina’s eyes vanished in an instant, replaced by a dark emotion swirling within her once-vibrant violet gaze.

Is that so… He’s going to another woman again, isn’t he…

In the eyes of Her Highness the Princess, it was clear that Noah felt there was no need for him to linger here any longer, so he intended to leave.

Because of this, she felt as if someone had snatched away the gaze that Noah should have directed at her.

This made her extremely displeased, or perhaps it was jealousy.

“……”

Watching the shadow of Noah fade away, the Princess slowly lowered her head, emanating a terrifying aura as if she were about to merge with the surrounding darkness.

This startled the many knights who had come to greet her.

W-what’s going on? Why does it seem like the Princess is acting a bit strange?

C-could it be that she’s angry at them for arriving late!?

“No, I’m merely dissatisfied with a certain reckless fool. I am very grateful for your arrival.”

As the Princess raised her head, her face twisted in displeasure, the knights collectively sighed in relief, beginning to smile and tidy up the aftermath of the scene.

On the way back, the knights did not notice any other abnormalities in their Princess. Coupled with the grotesque sight of the corpse of the demonized Alan, they simply assumed that the fool the Princess referred to was Alan, and thus did not dwell on it further.

However, the knights failed to notice that within Valentina’s eyes, which appeared to have returned to normal, lay a flicker of nearly mad emotion.

She could not simply wait like this; she had to do something.

Speaking of which, the last time she found herself in trouble, Noah had appeared before her unbidden.

Though he hadn’t shown up when she had deliberately allowed Alan to capture her, it was certain that she hadn’t truly been at a loss, and Noah must have been tense on the sidelines.

Heh, then why not stir up some trouble for herself again? Yes, perhaps resurrecting Alan for revenge or something.

Right, it would be just the right opportunity to make use of that fool.

The Princess, consumed by jealousy, conjured a truly terrible idea, and she was indeed determined to put it into action.

The malicious yet gleeful twisted smile at the corner of her mouth went unnoticed by anyone.

The only ones who could have sensed it were too busy stuffing their faces, thus missing the moment.

……

That night, the Grand Princess Dilia, frowning at the numerous stockings she had ordered from the clothing store, wondering what purpose these stockings would serve, ‘coincidentally’ overheard a shocking piece of news.

“What!? You say there’s a research abroad that could potentially resurrect a vigorous race? Then what are you waiting for! Hurry and contact those who can use this technology! And find a way to get that idiot Alan’s corpse into my hands!”

Grand Princess Dilia excitedly waved her right hand, adorned with white gloves, instructing her subordinates to act swiftly.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; if that foolish man were resurrected, Valentina would surely be astonished! Perhaps she might even lose due to her carelessness and shock!

Just the thought of Valentina being attacked by demons in her moment of shock made the fastidious Grand Princess with golden curls reveal a satisfied, wicked smile.

After all, she would never pass up any chance to humiliate Valentina!

“Hmph, I can hardly wait to see Valentina’s disgraceful failure! …Speaking of which, since they are stockings, I suppose they must be worn, right? I should try wearing them more often; who knows, maybe I’ll be chosen as a divine consort by some deity~”

“When that time comes, Valentina will surely go mad with jealousy! ♫~ Ah, just thinking about it excites me! I am the favored consort of the divine! And Valentina is merely a plaything of the lowly demons! Hahaha! It’s the perfect ending!”

Watching her subordinates spring into action, the Grand Princess, in high spirits, sat on the edge of her bed, removing the lace-trimmed white stockings from her legs, humming a tune as she donned a brand new pair of white stockings, as if she had already claimed victory, completely unaware that she was racing down a path destined for defeat.
