Heartless

Chapter 6:Dear mother

In a split second, I saw myself in front of an empty classroom. I took out the thin framed glasses that the school required us to use. If not glasses, you were to use contacts.

I walked over to my desk, and took a small nap while I waited. School wouldn't start for perhaps 40 minutes or so.

When I opened my eyes, I was somewhere else.

A child's bedroom this time.

It was a homey one, one that was designed with love and care. To one side was a little cabinet filled with stuffed animals and the other was a small shelf with books in it. On both sides were night lights, designed to look like the stars and sun. In the middle was a bed and a child was on top of it.

"Mommy?" the child cried out in fear, fidgeting under his blanket.

"Mommy?"

"Mommy? Where are you?"

"Daddy?"

"Daddy? Mommy?" the child kept on shouting as smoke started to fill the room.

"I think there's something under my bed," the child called in innocent fear.

"The bed feels hot Mommy."

"Mommy? I can't move!"

By now the child was panicking, frozen in fear. Yet, the parents never came.

"Mommy! Daddy! Where are you!"

"Oh honey!" The mother said, finally opening the door.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"Your not my mommy! Give me back my mommy!" the child said, a feeling of dread that a child his age should never know, crept slowly upon him.

"Of course I'm your mommy, who else would I be?" a strangled laugh came out of her mouth.

"Mommy! Mommy....." tears were starting to fall out of the child's eye. He started to whimper as the bed grew hotter and hotter, and the smoke started to thicken.

"Why must kids always see through my acts?" the woman sighed, the same way my father always sighed. A small, disappointed sigh.

"Never mind that, should I cook you or leave you raw? Perhaps rare...."

The scene suddenly changed to bring me to the master bedroom where both the mother and the father laid on the bed. A confused smile what was left of their faces. The only reason why their face was still recognizable was that their wasn't manythings edible in a person's face. However, the rest of their bodies were mangled, most parts were nothing but bone.

Torn flesh was scattered all over the place, though this vampire was very merciful. Killing them before she ate them, truly merciful or perhaps she simply was too hungry.

A piercing scream sounded the air and then I awoke...

To the sound of the school bell and the last few students enter the room.

" I see you're finally awake," a voice finally drawled from the back of the class.

At the corner of my glasses, small words were printed out

'Name: Wren Vasquez

Species: Incubus
