His Possession

4 The Appointmen

"How are you feeling now?" Daniel asked in a worried tone as I was coming to him.

"I'm totally fine!" I said in a calm tone trying to not to recall the incident happened on the roof.

"You sure? You should take some rest."

"Hahaha yeah" I smiled nervously.

"What happened, Grace?"

I went and leaned on his chest. There wasn't anyone around so I wasn't worried. I really needed a hug, some consolation that everything will be alright. My past wasn't so bright as other children. It wasn't filled with happiness, it wasn't fun. But I never let it affect my world. Some called me heartless, some called me a strong girl but I don't know myself what I've become.

I just know how to do keep people alive. Doesn't matter if I live or not, but giving people life is more than living, at least it is to me . I've found happiness in people's happiness. I've found happiness in people's smiles.

"Grace," Daniel's sad tone made me realize I was lost in my own thoughts.

"I'm fine just tired Daniel," I said forcing a smile, looking up at him.

"Yes you should go home. Let me drop you," He said looking at his watch.

"You done with your shift?" I asked.

"Yeah, I just finished,"He said patting my head.

"Hahaha don't do that," I said pushing his hand away from my head.

"People are gonna see, don't," I said worryingly.

"Let them watch. Nobody is gonna say anything."

"Yes not to you," I said mocking him.

"Get down in the garage. I'll see you there,"He said while leaving to get his car.

I went back in my cabin to get my bag. I wonder who that guy was. Well he wasn't a patient because he wasn't wearing our hospital dress.

What made him come to our hospital and plan to suicide. Maybe a patient's relative, who knows. I thought about telling Daniel but maybe it's better not making him worry.

I took my bag and thought I should take a peek at the little girl whom I operated today.

I was surprised to see there wasn't any relative with her. How could her parents leave their little girl alone like this. I told the nurses to look after her properly. She was still sleeping. It will take some time for her to wake up . I left the hospital thinking about the incident that happened today. It was a long day but at last it ended. Time changes everything. We humans are stubborn not to accept the fact it does. But at last we do forget and move on. It's human nature, we forget, we move on. But if we fail, we choose to die. We give up. Because it's either you move on or choose to end it . You can't do both at a time. But humans are a mystical creatures. We can still be alive though we are dead inside. Many of us are like that. Maybe I'm like that. Standing between life and death. Not alive or dead. Just living, surviving without no reason.

Next day when I went to the hospital I got to know that the little girl's family moved her to another hospital in abroad. Her condition was better so I didn't worry. I knew she will be fine which she was because after a few days my assistant told me she wants to do an appointment with me. But the problem was she wants me to come to her home which I don't do usually.

I didn't deny her though. She just went through a serious operation it's better for her to stay at home. I fixed a date. I really wanted to meet her parents as well. I kind of felt a strong connection with her for unknown reasons. I wonder why!
