Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#104 - Summer vacation space travel plan

The summer sun blazed, the weather stiflingly hot.

June in England should have been cool, but today, the weather was uncooperative. The outdoor temperature had already exceeded 28 degrees Celsius, and the indoor temperature was even higher.

The young wizards in the classroom with Roger were all sweating profusely.

Wizard robes were imbued with warming and cooling charms, but their effects couldn't lower the body temperature of the young wizards, which had risen due to tension and mental exertion.

Roger put down his quill, a new quill given to them by the teacher specifically for the exam, all of which had been enchanted with anti-cheating spells.

At this moment, only two seconds had passed since the start of the exam.

Back when Roger was writing his 'Three-Dimensional Theory' for Dumbledore, he could write notes the size of a dictionary on A4 paper in a few hours, totaling nearly 2 million words.

This was after Roger repeatedly deliberated, revised, and refined, while simultaneously organizing his understanding of magical theory as he transformed his thoughts into words.

To Roger, even two seconds was showing respect for the simple content of this first-year student's written exam.

After putting down his quill, Roger, just like in the previous written exam, idly dipped his fingertip in ink and then, wandlessly, transformed it into perfume.

He was pondering a question.

The essence of smell is volatile substances, meaning it's a 'part' of an object that dissipates into the air, allowing people to smell it.

However, according to one of the basic rules of Transfiguration, 'Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration,' objects are difficult to 'separate' after being transfigured. This is why wizards can't conjure food out of thin air; a wooden cake, when eaten, will turn into wood fragments instead of being broken down into nutrients.

But the smell, as a volatile substance, can be captured by the sensory cells of the human body.

Where exactly is the dividing line for this transfiguration and separation?

Although Roger had accepted Professor McGonagall's suggestion to take a long vacation, it didn't mean he had completely abandoned his magical research during this time.

He was just temporarily letting the virtual reality project grow wildly and only doing the most basic progress tracking on the 'Three-Dimensional Theory'.

He shifted most of his focus from the development of eternal life technology to focusing on himself.

Why did Roger consider Voldemort's path a 'wicked path'?

The reason, in Roger's view, was that even if Voldemort could reach the end of that path, the one who achieved eternal life wouldn't be Voldemort anymore, but something else he had created.

Something that considered itself to be Voldemort, something made from Voldemort, would replace Voldemort himself.

Not wanting to become like that, Roger had to find a way to resolve his own hidden dangers.

Roger was now more relaxed and carefree than before, trying to understand some of the changes within his mind.

In this process, Roger didn't intend to solve mental problems with solidified magic or other means, like Voldemort.

Roger instinctively felt that magic ultimately had its limits. Using limited magic to regulate the infinite inner world might not be a good choice. If he were to go down that path, how would he define the boundaries between his mind and magic?

If Roger wanted to follow in Dumbledore's footsteps and go all the way down the path of pure magic, it wouldn't be a problem because the ultimate goal of that path is that magic is me, and I am magic, so there's no need to distinguish too clearly.

But Roger's path was more than just magic.

Time slowly passed in Roger's thoughts, the professor collected the papers, and the examinees headed to the next exam room.

Wizard exams not only include written theory but also place considerable emphasis on practical operations.

Handling herbs, casting spells, brewing potions—only a very small portion of courses only test theory, rather than testing theory and practice twice.

For example, the last exam, History of Magic, is one of the few courses that doesn't test practical skills.

As Professor Binns, the ghost professor, announced the end of the exam and rolled up all the students' answer parchments, the first-year wizards' final exams were completely over.

For a time, some students cheered, while others who hadn't studied hard or were suspicious asked the people around them, 'Which weird old wizards invented the automatic stirring cauldron?', comparing answers with each other.

"F**k! Ron, didn't you say you didn't study much? You even dragged me into a game of wizard's chess the day before yesterday. How did you get almost all the answers right?!"

"Luck, it just so happened that the questions tested were the ones I remembered, hehe."

"... Wait, what are you guys doing? Don't hit my face!"

Roger heard the commotion and screams behind him as he left the exam classroom.

But he didn't care.

The other students were the same, happy to see the 'lucky one' receive their punishment.

"Roger, wait for me." After the exam ended, Harry didn't stay in the exam room to 'save' his good brother Ron Weasley, but instead caught up with Roger's pace.

"Hmm? What's wrong?" Roger stopped and looked back at Harry.

"It's nothing, I just wanted to ask you what your summer plans are," Harry asked.

Having spent so much time together, Harry of course knew that Roger didn't have a fixed residence in London. Before entering school, he had been living in the Leaky Cauldron, owned by Hannah Abbott's family.

So he was wondering if Roger would still spend the summer at Hannah's bar.

"Haven't thought about it yet," Roger said without hesitation.

"I originally wanted to discuss with Headmaster Dumbledore whether I could stay within Hogwarts during the holidays, after all, I still have a lot of magical experiments to do."

Hogwarts has its first-week final exams in June, and the results are released on the weekend of the second week. The farewell banquet is held on the day before the train arrives, announcing the results of the House Cup and bidding farewell to the graduates.

In the third week, the Hogwarts Express will depart from Hogwarts to London, and all teachers and students will leave, completely ending the school year.

But some people won't leave, such as the castle caretaker Filch, the Forbidden Forest keeper Hagrid, the headmaster and deputy headmaster Dumbledore and McGonagall, and the head of Hufflepuff House, who is also the Herbology professor. The school's herb greenhouse needs someone to watch over and take care of it, so she rarely leaves the school.

But recently I have been...

This is still due to Professor McGonagall's influence. Roger feels that encountering some people and some things might be more beneficial to his cultivation and development than staying in the laboratory for more than two months.

"Travel?" A hint of longing appeared in Harry's eyes.

"Then do you have a destination in mind?"

"Haven't thought about it either, but if possible, I'd like to go to space above near-Earth orbit.

I want to try if casting spells in space is the same as on Earth," Roger also said with anticipation.

"Besides that, I also want to go to the deep sea and see the wizards of other countries in distant lands."

"And..." At this point, Roger's words suddenly stopped.

He thought of the Middle East, but he didn't know if he should set foot on that land again.

"In short, there are still many places I want to go, but because of schedule conflicts, I haven't decided yet." Not only are there schedule conflicts, but Roger also needs to confirm some itineraries with Dumbledore before taking action.

After all, as Dumbledore said, Roger is not an ordinary student now. In the eyes of many British wizards, he and Harry are practically Merlin reincarnated, and foreign countries probably have people watching them as well.

"...That's great." When Harry thought that he could only return to his aunt's house and face the dislike of his relatives, he couldn't help but feel a little depressed.

Although his mind had grown a lot, and Harry already had the determination to face everything, it was impossible for him not to feel any fluctuations when being treated coldly by his blood relatives.

Looking at Harry's expression, Roger thought for a moment and said, "Don't want to go back? Then do you want to travel with me?"

Of course, he knew that Harry's love magic needed to be maintained by spending time with his family.

However, Roger didn't think that Harry absolutely had to possess love magic.

The power of love can protect Harry's childhood, but he will eventually grow up.

Voldemort is becoming less and less human, and heaven knows whether the love magic can recognize the monster standing above time after its complete transformation. Moreover, with himself around, Harry also has his own magical path. These two are very 'tacit', both using time magic as a new path for their rivals. Under the entanglement of fate's prophecy, it's hard to say who can go further.

"Um, let me think..."

Now it was Harry's turn to hesitate.

Seeing this, Roger didn't say anything more, but waved goodbye and headed to the headmaster's office.

He was going to discuss the summer vacation with Dumbledore.

But when he knocked on the door and actually saw Dumbledore, Roger suddenly thought of a question.

'Headmaster Dumbledore, after this school year ends, Professor Snape should be finishing his teaching of Defense Against the Dark Arts, right?'"

"Have you decided on the professor for the next school year?" Roger asked curiously.
