Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity
#52 - The only way to conquer fear is to...
Harry Potter was a child who grew up in the shadow of being unwanted, loathed by his relatives and bullied by his peers.
He had experienced things similar to those Snape had gone through.
Therefore, he felt a great deal of empathy for Snape's experiences.
While experiencing those memories through the Pensieve, he was even more able to truly feel what it was like for Snape to be bullied for years by a group of people led by his own father.
Whenever he withdrew his thoughts from the Pensieve, tears would always stream down Harry's cheeks.
That was the lingering echo of a great deal of painful emotions.
This pain came both from Snape and from Harry.
After watching a large number of beautiful memories about his parents, how could he not be in pain when this dream was shattered and he discovered that there was another side to everything?
Originally, Harry had greatly disliked Snape after Snape had been constantly sarcastic and targeting him since he started school.
He thought Snape was gloomy, terrifying, liked to make trouble for no reason, and was extremely biased towards Slytherin.
Even after Roger showed him a glimpse of Snape's future, Harry still harbored extreme prejudice against Snape.
But.
After personally experiencing Snape's experiences and his feelings at the time, Harry's feelings towards Snape changed from loathing to guilt.
Snape's targeting?
After experiencing those painful things, and having the only 'ray of light' in his life taken away, Snape's mere verbal taunts towards him were already worthy of being called magnanimous!
Now, Potions class had become the most terrifying course in Harry's eyes, because there he had to face the person he didn't know how to face.
Different from the fear of the past.
Now his heart was tormented every minute and every second, even after leaving the classroom, even when Snape was not in front of him.
Through magical means, Roger looked at Harry's complex expression through the lead coffin, pondered for a moment, and then said, "Harry."
"Regarding your situation with Snape, there are many comforting words or great life principles that I could say off the cuff, but I don't think that's what you really need."
"I think what you need are some more concise and clear suggestions... Are you interested in hearing them?"
Harry nodded and said, "Of course."
The very fact that he was willing to voice the entanglements in his heart meant that he wanted to ask Roger for help.
Harry hoped that Roger could resolve his inner knot with his magical means, just like he had resolved the conflicts between Hermione and Ron, and like he had helped other students time and time again in the past.
Seeing that Harry was willing to listen, Roger sorted out his thoughts in his mind, and then said, "Harry, you should have heard that I had some special experiences before entering school."
Although the specific details of the Middle East incident were confidential, rumors had already spread like wildfire throughout the British wizarding world, and even some students within Hogwarts had heard about it.
"On that chaotic battlefield, anything could happen. I needed to face all kinds of difficult choices. Every second I hesitated could lead to the death of my comrades."
Harry didn't speak, listening attentively.
"Faced with those choices, the only thing I've done from beginning to end is one thing."
"Carefully consider whether my choice is correct?"
"If it is, then do it."
"No matter who the enemy ahead is, no matter whether others object, I will move forward without hesitation."
"Ask my heart, follow my conscience, act on what I know, and have no regrets."
"Harry."
Roger's tone became solemn.
"What I want to tell you is just a simple sentence."
"Do what you believe is right!"
Harry was stunned for a moment: "What I believe... is right?"
"How do you think you can solve the problem? Think, if you come up with a method that you think is correct, then do it."
Only he himself can decide how to walk the path of his life. Roger has no interest in instilling a lot of nonsense into others.
Choose a path that you won't regret, that's all.
Speaking of this, Roger's voice became gentle: "Perhaps... you already have the answer in your heart, but you are afraid to face it, that's why you are so entangled."
Harry lowered his head in silence.
After a long time, he raised his head.
When he opened his eyes again, there was no more confusion in his pupils.
"Thank you, Roger."
Yes, what to do and what is right, his heart had already given the answer.
It was that he didn't dare to face Professor Snape, that he was afraid.
It was that he didn't dare to face the other side of his parents, that he was afraid.
It was that he didn't want to face those things that made him embarrassed.
He was afraid that after presenting the 'truth' to his current friends, they would have other opinions of him.
He was afraid that he would become like Snape during his school days, ostracized and treated with strange eyes.
Harry, who had been alone before the age of 11, was afraid that the friendship and love he had gained in the wizarding world would turn into a fleeting dream in the blink of an eye, and finally return to being alone.
Harry walked out of the common room with steady steps. As he moved forward, a sense of unknown fear kept attacking his heart.
His heart was racing, his muscles were trembling.
But... his pace was still firm.
Facing fear is a terrible thing.
But Harry believed that if he retreated at this moment, it would be an even more terrible thing.
He would become a person who chose the 'wrong' path, a person who allowed himself to get by.
Abandoning courage.
Abandoning the possibility of becoming a great person.
Perhaps a 'harmonious' self would be more 'mature' and would live a relatively happy life by being smooth and sophisticated.
But a person who is in harmony with the world is destined to be difficult to become a great wizard.
Roger said that magic is the miracle of the mind.
A strong mind can control powerful magic.
If he chooses mediocrity.
Then he will no longer have the possibility of crossing time and saving his parents!
How could a child abandon his parents? Even if they had made mistakes, Harry's heart had never wavered.
When Harry Potter stopped, in front of him was the Slytherin Head of House's office.
He and Professor Snape were only separated by a door.
Coming here again, looking back, the seer who could shield him from the wind and rain was no longer by his side.
This time, he had to face everything alone.
"I, have to do the right thing." After whispering softly, Harry raised his hand.
Knock knock knock.
The office door was knocked.
"The door's unlocked." Snape's deep voice came from the other side of the door.
After speaking, Snape, who was grading homework, raised his head, only to find that the visitor was an unexpected guest.
"Oh, isn't this our savior? This time you're not hiding behind the annoying seer, trembling?"
Facing the already familiar sarcasm, Harry didn't react, just said, "Professor Snape, I've already seen the memories about my parents."
"All the memories."
"As the son of Lily Evans and James Potter, I'm here this time to say something to you."
When Harry's voice fell, Snape's face, which was originally mocking, completely changed.
