It had been a week since summer vacation ended.

I was just getting used to school life when I got a call from my editor, Yuka Asagiri.

“Yes, hello?”

“I’m sorry to bother you. I’m calling about a meeting.”

Yuka’s mature, feminine voice came through the phone.

“Yes, it’s fine.”

“Thank you. So, how about this weekend?”

“Just a moment, please.”

I put the call on speaker and check my calendar.

I didn’t have any plans for the weekend either, though I was a little depressed to hear myself admit it.

“I don’t have any plans for Saturday or Sunday either, so I’m fine with either.”

“I’m not in my youth. You’re a high school student. So, can we do it on Saturday?”

""

一I thought it was an unnecessary comment, but I agreed to the meeting on Saturday.

“Saturday, right? I understand.”

“Then I’ll pick you up at your nearest station at 1:00 PM on Saturday.”

“Okay.”

I was grateful she was coming to pick me up.

“Then, I look forward to working with you on that day.”

“Yes, my pleasure.”

After saying that, I ended the call.

“Well, that’s enough work for today.”

I muttered to myself, put away my tools and went down to the living room.

Sara was sitting there, watching TV.

“Oh, Nii-San, is your work going well?”

She had a happy expression on her face when she looked at me. Apparently, she was getting tired of watching TV by herself.

If you show me an expression like that, your Onii-Chan will fall in love with you, you know?

“Yeah, I’m done for today.”

I said and sat down next to Sara.

“You’ve been very busy lately.”

“Yeah, I’ve got anime stuff and my own publication to deal with.”

To be honest, I had a lot of work to do.

“I’m going to a meeting this Saturday.”

“Please don’t work too hard.”

Sara showed an anxious and worried look.

“Thank you. I’ll be fine.”

I said and gently patted her head.

*****

It was Saturday, the day of the meeting.

I arrived at the station 10 minutes before our meeting time.

“I am sorry, Sensei. Did I keep you waiting?”

Five minutes before the meeting time, my supervisor, Yuka Asagiri, showed up.

“It’s okay. It’s only been five minutes.”

I said while showing her the dial of my watch.

“Good. Now let’s go to the meeting.”

“Yes, can we go somewhere, like a coffee shop?” Asagiri said.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I know a good coffee shop, let’s go there.”

“Thank you.”

We headed to a coffee shop a few minutes walk from here. It was the place where I had tea with Sara before.

“Here it is.”

“O~o, it really feels like a coffee shop.”

Asagiri was impressed.

“It’s quiet here, so it’s quite relaxed/cozy.”

When we walked in, the Cafe shop was relatively empty.

The manager/owner seemed to be alone today.

“Please take any seat you like.”

The manager/owner said in a stern/serious voice.

On a side note, the manager/owner of this coffee shop was a dandy of an old man who would fit the occupation of a coffee shop master. Looking at the gray hair on his head, he must be close to sixty years old. By the way, the blend of coffee he brewed was really good.

“Shall we do it here?”

“Yes.”

Asagiri-san and I sat down at an empty table.

“Sir, please order whatever you like.”

He handed us a menu, but we had already decided what we wanted to order.

“Thank you. I’ve already decided what I want.”

“Oh, I see. Well then, me too.”

I ordered a blended coffee from the manager/owner.

Asagiri-san ordered an iced coffee.

“Let’s start then.”

“Yes, thank you very much.”

And so the meeting began.
