We were walking towards the station, which was only a ten-minute walk from my house.

“Do you have something you want to eat, Sara?”

I asked Sara, who was walking next to me.

“Well, … what do you want … I might want to eat some meat.”

“Meat. Then how about some yakiniku1 ? I think there’s one in front of the station.”

“Are you sure!?”

Sara’s eyes were shining.

“Yeah, since we’re here. Is it called a Welcome Party? Because I want to deepen my friendship with Sara for that kind of thing as well.”

“Then, I’ll take your word for it and have grilled meat, please.”

“Sure.”

We arrived in front of a yakiniku chain restaurant that my dad and I used to go to sometimes.

“Are you okay here?”

“Yes, I’m fine!”

The restaurant was on the second floor, so we walked up the stairs.

‘Welcome!”

The waitress welcomed us with a pleasant greeting.

“There are two of us, do you have seats?”

“Yes, we have. I’ll show you the way.”

The waitress guided us to our seats.

“Please take this seat.”

We were shown a table for four.

‘Yes, thank you. Sara, you take the seat on the other side.”

“Ah, thank you very much.”

I gave the seat on the other side to Sara, and I took the seat in front of her.

“Here’s a hand towel.”

The waitress handed us each a hand towel.

“Would you like to order a single meal or all-you-can-eat today?”

“Sara, which one do you prefer?”

“Then, all-you-can-eat.”

“Can I decide the course?”

Sara nodded her head.

Apparently, Sara was not very good at conversing with waitresses.

“Then, I’d like the all-you-can-eat, standard course, please.”

“Very well, sir. We have two people for the standard all-you-can-eat course. This has a time limit of 90 minutes. The last order will be taken 30 minutes before the 90-minute is up.”

“Yes, I understand.”

“Please place your order via the tablet. Please take your time.”

Recently, more and more places started using tablets to order.

I thought this was a very convenient system.

“You can order whatever you want.”

I said and handed the tablet to Sara.

“Yes, thank you.”

Sara navigated through the tablet and decided on her order.

“Can I just order whatever meat I want?”

“Sure, I’ll leave it up to you.”

“All right. I’ll take two servings.”

“Thank you.”

Sara ordered the standard items such as kalbi2 , harami3  and Horumonyaki4 .

“What would you like for drinks, Nii-San?”

“I’ll have a Cola.”

“Yeah, alright. Then I’ll have a Cola too.”

Sara then ordered and put down her tablet.

“Sorry for leaving it to you.”

“It’s fine. And I said I wanted to eat. This will be easier since I don’t have to talk to the waitress.”

“Yes, thank you.”

We waited for our order to arrive.
