After the class, which was as boring as ever, Sara came over to my seat.

“Nii-San, do you have club activities today?

“No, we’re not doing any club activities today.”

“Then let’s go to the coffee shop together!”

“O-okay.”

Defeated by Sara’s pressure, we left the school and headed for the coffee shop. On the way, my classmates glanced at me, but I was used to it by now.

“Nii-San, you brought your tablet, right?”

“Yes, I have.”

I was carrying a tablet and a bluetooth keyboard for writing outside.

“Then work on it, I can watch. “

“Eh, is that okay with you, Sara?”

“Yes, it’s fine.”

We headed to our usual coffee shop, which was easy to use because it was fairly empty at all times.

“Welcome.”

Today, we were served by a part-time lady. I heard that she was the grandson of the manager/owner.

“Please take any seat you like.”

“Yes.”

We sat down at a table in the back, which was always relatively empty. She brought us some cold water.

“I’ll be back when you’ve decided on your order.”

After saying that, the waitress left the area/table.

“What do you want, Sara?”

“I always have tea.”

“Well, I’ll have the usual, too.”

We each ordered a cup of coffee and a cup of tea.

“I’m going to work now, is that okay?”

“Yes, feel free to do so.”

With those words, I took out my tablet and keyboard from my bag and connected them. From there, I started writing the rest of the story that I had saved this morning.

All the while, Sara was staring at my face.

“Thank you for waiting.”

A few minutes after I started writing, coffee and tea arrived.

“Thank you.”

I took a sip and proceeded to type again. Sara observed me in silence.

Came to think of it, this might be the first time I was doing my job in front of her. She looked at me with a slight grin on her face.

I wondered if it was that good. After about an hour and a half of writing, I looked up from the screen.

“How is it? Is it going well?” (Sara)

“Yeah, it’s going pretty well.” (Haruki)

“That’s good to hear.”(Sara)

It was a little embarrassing when people were watching, but it made you feel like you had to do it.

I spent the next hour or so writing.

“Oh, is it that late already?”

“Yes, it is.”

It was starting to get a little dark.

“Let’s go home. I’ve made a lot of progress.”

“Thank you for your time.”

I was able to write a little over five thousand words.

After paying the bill, we left the coffee shop.
